Near earth orbit will be a field of debris until gravity takes over.
For any long-lived code base, dynamic piles up invisible problems over time.
It's great for short-lived throwaway stuff, but as soon as you know you'll be maintaining a large code base for a long time, the "easier" part of dynamic actually becomes harder than just spelling stuff out.
It's obviously a trade-off and not everyone agrees, but that's my personal experience having run large eng teams for both types.
I tried... but it looked like it would take awhile...
Our software industry has specialized, for decades, in "rug pulling" / changing / "disrupting" other industries on a massive scale.
I find it pretty ironic when engineers make these statements in that context.

One night, dad was on duty, probably smoking pot with his student residents.
The phones all stop working.
So dad goes down to the maintenance closet, opens it up... and sure enough, there's Woz digging around the building's phone wiring. Woz immediately says "I'll fix it, I'll fix it!!".
He was down there installing one of those phreaking devices for free long-distance phone calls for everyone in the dorms.
My dad let him do his thing.
On the other hand, they've only recently penetrated my greater social circle, so I'm not so certain as this author that the trend has ended.

Suggesting people are "out of their mind" is not really appropriate on this forum, especially so in this circumstance.
I've had to adjust my UX usage so that I don't get billed for every character I type, rather than the string I'm looking for.
It definitely isn't always for the love of academics.
As a founder, I'd always though that >1x was predatory with no excuses, but your #2 really clarified that an appropriate situation.
Say I want to log all http requests to the server (I know I said a keyword of log) and then process those logs into aggregates, stick them in a time series.
Would it be insane to "log" everything into kafka? Or what would be the more "correct" tool for that job?
