tocomment··on FDA: Antibacterial soaps could pose health risks
Why are they doing this now? What has changed?
tocomment··on AngularJS 1.3: a new release approaches
If the documentation is so bad. Are there any books available that would help?
tocomment··on US military reveals laser can down drones, mortar rounds
Wouldn't it change all modern warfare? Aren't mortars a big part of all land battles?
tocomment··on The microhydro plant
Thanks for all the answers? So I'm wondering couldn't we do a lot more hydroelectric in the US by running pipes alongside rivers?

Why do large hydro electric projects always use dams? It seems like a dam wastes a ton of land creating a lake?

So is this a box spring? Or more like a futon? Maybe add something on up your site that has a cross section picture?
tocomment··on Coinbase Raises $25 Million From Andreessen Horowitz
Very good point. But I still think the bitcoin ecosystem is missing a foolproof way to securely store bitcoins in the way that US dollars have a bank.

Paper wallets can get lost or stolen, A lot of online wallets get hacked, and DIY encryption doesn't seem like a great way to go either, especially for grandma.

I'd happily pay a fee to coinbase in exchange for some kind of insurance against them being hacked.

tocomment··on The microhydro plant
What is all of the piping and canals for? couldn't this just be built right next to the water way?
tocomment··on Coinbase Raises $25 Million From Andreessen Horowitz
Would it be possible for CoinBase to have some kind of FDIC like insurance? It seems like that's the biggest problems with bitcoins these days is that there's no safe place to store them.
tocomment··on Show HN: Bid with Bitcoin to write whatever you want on my web page
Which part is generating the keypairs? Is it bitcoin specific?

I'm curious how it's done. I'm thinking to code up something where people can have a small amount of bitcoins donated to every URL they visit. If it ever caught one if could be a way to fund content instead of ads.

tocomment··on Newly discovered greenhouse gas '7,000 times more powerful than CO2'
If the Falcon Heavy can send 14,000 kilograms to Mars [1]. How much warmer could 14,000 kilograms of this gas make mars? Anyone able to calculate?

tocomment··on Show HN: Bid with Bitcoin to write whatever you want on my web page
What if instead of going to charity, the bitcoins went to the visitors of the page?

That way it could be self perpetuating?

tocomment··on Show HN: Bid with Bitcoin to write whatever you want on my web page
How did you code up the handling of payments? Was this easy to make?

tocomment··on The main trick in machine learning
And a follow up question, what would an example of a brain over fitting something it learned?
tocomment··on The main trick in machine learning
How does the brain generalize to data it hasn't seen before? Any theories?
tocomment··on The Copenhagen Wheel [video]
Yes but does the equivalent of a Copenhagen wheel exist for a car? That sir is my question.
tocomment··on The Copenhagen Wheel [video]
Would t be possible to design something similar for a car wheel?
tocomment··on Diet Drugs Work: Why Won’t Doctors Prescribe Them?
Couldn't another part of the problem simply be lack of marketing for these drugs?

Everyone is aware there are goto drugs to toenail fungus and restless leg syndrome from all of the commercials. Shouldn't drugs like these that apply to even more people be all over the airwaves?

tocomment··on Diet Drugs Work: Why Won’t Doctors Prescribe Them?
Would anyone be able to give or link to a summary of the four drugs it mentions? How would a person evaluate which would be the best one to try?
tocomment··on Diet Drugs Work: Why Won’t Doctors Prescribe Them?
I've been looking for a way to make vegetables like brocoli or green beans palatable. What's your secret?
tocomment··on The simple fix that could heal the patent system
Sorry, dumb question. What's a direct link and why can't you submit them?
tocomment··on Kima Ventures Will Allow Startups to Raise $150K Within 15 Days Via AngelList
I thought the purpose of this type of funding was to fund the idea stage, so you wouldn't need traction yet.
tocomment··on Kima Ventures Will Allow Startups to Raise $150K Within 15 Days Via AngelList
Any advice for someone in the early idea phase? What steps would one do before applying to this?
tocomment··on I will not hack on your codebase for free in an interview
A whole day is a little excessive but other wise that's exactly what an interview should be. I'd like nothing better than to see the actual code I'd be working with and see how I work together with others on the team.

In fact I once passed on a job offer because they wouldn't let me see the code until I accepted.

tocomment··on Fuel Fix » New data show ‘meteoric’ rise of Texas oil
Where did the increase come from? Is it fraking or technology related?
tocomment··on SES-8 – Falcon 9 GEO Transfer Mission
I updated my question to explain it better I think.
tocomment··on SES-8 – Falcon 9 GEO Transfer Mission
Edit: I'm going to try to rephrase this whole question since it got so unpopular. (I also said moon when I meant sun)

Lets say we fly a rocket up to earth sun L4 at a really slow speed. When we reach L4 we fire retro rockets to slow down as to not overshoot.

It seems to me that we never have to reach a high speed to stay in space at that point. The two bodies would be holding us there?

Is that correct? Is there a certain speed to fly out to L4 which uses less fuel than speeding up to 8km/s like you would need to stay in space orbiting earth?

tocomment··on Launch a Water-Propelled Satellite into Deep Space
But couldn't a version be built on the same principles that has higher thrust?
tocomment··on Launch a Water-Propelled Satellite into Deep Space
So wouldn't this build up a charge over time if its giving off electrons or am I misunderstanding?
