The chinese will go and suck in all of your laptop and everything else from your network when you install this ;)
tobi_bsf··on Cloud in a Bottle: making self-hosting accessible to everyone
accessible self hosting is already here, its called 'claude' or 'codex' you basically start it and tell it what you need, dont even have to know any software names.
tobi_bsf··on The Real Luxuries In Life
Im only 45, but this is very true.
tobi_bsf··on My BC-250 Journey (With 40 CUs Unlocked)
Hard to find these for under $300 these days.
tobi_bsf··on More German than many Germans
Welcome to my home country, glad it worked well for you. Regarding the far rights and how they are againts immigrants, this is 100% not against immigrants like you who integrate and are a valuable member of the german community. There are still a lot of illegal immigrants who have no intention of working here, just want to take benefit of the social system and send the money home or just come to germany to be criminal, sadly that is still a real problem.
tobi_bsf··on More German than many Germans
Would be the same.
tobi_bsf··on Knoppix
man i thought the guy died when i saw the post. glad he seems well. also he is surprisingly young.
tobi_bsf··on Fidonet: Technology, Use, Tools, and History (1993)
Was a great time, completely free of spam, ai slop and mostly even political stuff. the world is really developing backwards.
tobi_bsf··on London to Calcutta by Bus (2022)
Back then, people taking those buses enjoyed life more than most do today.
tobi_bsf··on State of Homelab 2026
I will never get why the F people are putting all this stuff into the public internet vs just using tailscale.
tobi_bsf··on Show HN: Stop paying for Dropbox/Google Drive, use your own S3 bucket instead
The magic of Dropbox lies in its local app and sync, this is a nicer webinterface for s3 storage?
tobi_bsf··on Claude Code for Infrastructure
Whats wrong with just using claude code for infrastructure? Works great tbh.
tobi_bsf··on San Francisco to offer free childcare to people making up to $230k
nice to see the city supporting the lower class.
tobi_bsf··on Stop Doom Scrolling, Start Doom Coding: Build via the terminal from your phone
If you need this article to get the idea of using Claude Code from your phone, you won’t build anything substantial anyway.
tobi_bsf··on Claude Code On-the-Go
Has not discovered Clawdbot yet.
tobi_bsf··on Asahi Linux with Sway on the MacBook Air M2 (2024)
too bad they archived this level of compatibility only on hardware you cannot easily access anymore.
tobi_bsf··on Fahrplan – 39C3
Interesting, the same came to my mind when reading the fahrplan.
tobi_bsf··on Pebble, Rebble, and a path forward
My goodness, these people are fighting as if it were about controlling the next Apple App Store. These are just a few watch faces for a watch that only a few thousand people will ever use—how can they lose perspective like that?
tobi_bsf··on My Impressions of the MacBook Pro M4
I do not like the Apple Nano Texture. 5% of the time it really helps but 100% of the time it just reduces the picture fidelity somehow. When doing visual tasks like video editing, it is just not good.
tobi_bsf··on My Impressions of the MacBook Pro M4
Same, thankfully its now completely gone in phones. But i like the MBA 13 for its form factor but the screen feels broken to me.
tobi_bsf··on Show HN: Learn German with Games
Nice, not sure if "Guess the Artikel" makes sense this way. Sometimes it’s not clear whether the word is singular or plural, which affects the article. For example, I got "Ausländer," which can either be "die" for plural or "der" for singular.
tobi_bsf··on M5 MacBook Pro
Not sure about that. I never use my official charger and the magsafe cable but man, how did we arrive here. Some things just belong to a laptop.
tobi_bsf··on The RSS feed reader landscape
I use Reeder Classic on Mac and iOS, synced via Feedly. I also use the Feedly app on Android and the web app on Windows, but this article made me discover folo.is, which could probably unify my experience across all these platforms. I’ll give it a try.
tobi_bsf··on OpenCut: The open-source CapCut alternative
Not sure if they have a feeling for what makes CapCut. Mostly it’s the remote AI features like magical background removal, instant TikTok style captions, templates, cross platform cloud sync..

No need to make a good, free video editor. We have davinci for that.

tobi_bsf··on YouTube No Translation
It’s unbelievable how broken YouTube is when it comes to language. I’m German. I want to see German content in German, and obviously I want to see English content in English. How is this not possible—especially when it worked perfectly for years? Is there a Chrome Variant of this?
tobi_bsf··on Framework Laptop 12 review
Good point. They don’t really seem to care about actual user needs — their products feel more like they’re built around what’s easy to implement. I would’ve loved to see a Snapdragon motherboard focused on battery life and quiet operation too.
tobi_bsf··on Show HN: Using YOLO to Detect Office Chairs in 40M Hotel Photos
You should remove pictures that contain multiple office chairs, i saw a lot of pictures that got properties marked as postive beeing their business centers or conference rooms.
tobi_bsf··on Show HN: Using YOLO to Detect Office Chairs in 40M Hotel Photos
I travel extensively for work, and in Europe this is a real Problem. I stayed in Steigenberger Hotels in a "Business Suite" that does not had a chair and a desk. Marriot properties like moxy for instance are guaranteed to have no desk in the room.
tobi_bsf··on I failed moving my Google calendar to Proton
In my experience, these proprietary encrypted systems like Proton or Tutanota all have their shortcomings caused by their mandatory client software.
