tnzk··on Haystack: Open-Source AI Framework for Production Ready Agents, RAG
Why Ruby? It seems to be a Python framework.

tnzk··on Video: A Language for Making Movies
Even videolang is just a letter away from VideoLAN. I love the idea as I built something similar in the past though.
tnzk··on SVG Triangle of Compromise
This is actually what popped out of my head as I read the article. Did you observe other trade-offs with this approach?
tnzk··on Crooks Bypassed Google's Email Verification to Create Workspace Accounts, Acces
I've checked 2.0 Security BCP, 2.1 draft and OIDC and none of them seemed to cover that. Perhaps I could be in ongoing discussion in the mailing list of 2.1? I only checked their GitHub issues and found nothing relevant.
tnzk··on Crooks Bypassed Google's Email Verification to Create Workspace Accounts, Acces
Curious, which part in RFC 6749 do you refer to or other ones?
tnzk··on OpenAI Announces SearchGPT
this is really a common misconception mostly caused due to confusing UI in the app. See https://simonwillison.net/2024/May/15/chatgpt-in-4o-mode/
tnzk··on AI trained on AI garbage spits out AI garbage
Apparently different articles?
tnzk··on Apple Maps on the web launches in beta
Do you regularly use one of them? I've been aware of them for years but I've been never motivated to activity use them due to overall poor UX. Sign-in is already a hassle there. Yet I appreciate them maintaining them because I once had recovered my access to my devices when I was almost locked out of Apple ID (don't quite remember the detail though).
tnzk··on Node.js adds experimental support for TypeScript
This seems very interesting approach to scripting. Does it basically provides with an alias to child_process.exec as $ and besides that I can write in the same way I'd do in Node?

> Node.js standard library requires additional hassle before using

I read the hassle as having to setup Node runtime in advance, but zx requires npm to install so I'm not sure.

tnzk··on Jiff: Datetime library for Rust
Recently I came across "Theory and pragmatics of the tz code and data" (*) and really enjoyed as a primer on how timezone names are picked and what made tz the current form.

tnzk··on Itsy-gitsy – A static site generator for Git repositories
Awesome, generating pages for the Linux kernel repository in less than 7 mie sounds great.

> Only indexes history of one branch.

I wonder if this means it only generates pages for one branch or it does for all the branches but indexes only one in search efficiency sense (although it might be irrelevant as it is for static sites). Some of the demo sites have a "branches" page with more than one branch.

tnzk··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (June 2024)

tnzk··on Fair coins tend to land on the same side they started
fact(1015)?
tnzk··on Migrating Netflix to GraphQL safely
Could you please provide some pointers?
tnzk··on Goodbye, Twilio
I assume parent is talking about when SendGrid got acquired by Twillio. I had the similar experience with it at that time.
tnzk··on YC Interview Questions Gamified
You mean llm, large language models? Would be fascinating if a compile backend could generate follow-up questions though :)
tnzk··on Ligatures in programming fonts: hell no (2019)
Flash also come with a proportional font by default in the ActionScript editor if I remember correctly. I believe Adobe has changed its mind for other products with scripting support.
tnzk··on A Readable Techcrunch Feed
You mean the parent is written by ChatGPT? How did you know that? I'm an ESL speaker and feel nothing wrong with the parent (beside being a bit too dense). Curious how natives or more fluent speakers would feel out of it.
tnzk··on AI is just someone else's intelligence
Obviously self-awareness means beieg conscious, isn't it?
tnzk··on Automakers are starting to admit that drivers hate touchscreens
But I hate "push the volumn knob N times to intiate BT pairing, read carefully the alnum code displayed in 7 segment LED" ...
tnzk··on Universities should return to oral exams in the AI and ChatGPT era
...which in turn allows students to submit AI generated video now.
tnzk··on March 20 ChatGPT outage: Here’s what happened
It might be redis-py originally and someone at public relations advised to replace it with something more general so that it would sound being nice.
tnzk··on AI is making it easier to create more noise, when all I want is good search
I have seen this once in the issues in sveltejs/svelte (couldn't find the link though.) It had been closed by moderators fairly soon, I wonder how long it will take for the amount of this thing to surpass the capacity of voluntary efforts.
tnzk··on Fork of Facebook’s LLaMa model to run on CPU
Indeed, except for processing graphics.
tnzk··on Don't believe ChatGPT – we do not offer a "phone lookup" service
No, as the article mentions, there already seem to be bunch of posts and videos that claim one can use this feature. GPT just has been trained with them, not invented anything themselves.

If this was new market opportunity, just publishing a falsehood would do the same job.

tnzk··on Don't believe ChatGPT – we do not offer a "phone lookup" service
It just predicts what a statistically "normal" person is likely to say right now, not in the future. The article even mentions there's an YouTube video that explains how to use this (non existent) feature already.
tnzk··on Prompt Engineering Guide: Guides, papers, and resources for prompt engineering
Agree, it's such a word people here have strong opinions about.

But what is your suggestion? I feel it would be recieved easily if it was LLM Prompt Cheat sheet or something, though I wouldn't have seen it on HN.

tnzk··on Four ways to build web apps
I love Render, have been using it heavily personally as well as professionally. I like it for fulfilling my demands efficiently. But I sometimes find the name is a pain point, it is really hard to search especially combined with some generic words. It seems fixed now but I remember at some point of time even "render status" wouldn't lead me to the right place.
