tiredwired··on Apple Faceshield
People are making their own masks. There is no shortage of DIY masks. They have always been able to do that but, medical people and government leaders waited months in the USA to tell them to do that. Other countries already proved that wearing masks all the time helped protect you.

Medical people are telling the public not to wear gloves. The reasons they give and examples are detached from reality. There is a video going around on Facebook where a nurse acts like paint accurately represents cross-contamination. No consideration for material properties or other types of gloves.

tiredwired··on Abandoned stores, empty homes: why San Francisco's boom looks like a crisis
The last 2 paragraphs mention venture capital and VC dollars. I think the "homeless capital" refers to funds that are not being invested and have not found a "home" in new long-term businesses.
tiredwired··on Ask HN: 40 years old and Google, is it possible?
I interviewed at Google once. They did not care about my resume or any of my experience. They only cared about how I performed on the bizarro whiteboard questions.

That's like asking the marketing/sales/CEO type people to tone down the volume of their calls.
tiredwired··on Unethical Interviewer Behavior
I usually check glassdoor.com or indeed.com for company reviews.
tiredwired··on Ask HN: How to spot a bully during an interview?
I watch out for people who repeatedly ask the same question without adding any clue or context even when I state I do not understand the question or do not have experience with the thing they are asking about. They won't let you move forward and discuss the things you do have experience with.

Watch out for interviewers who spend a lot of time talking about themselves and their accomplishments.

Watch out for interviewers who make negative comments about your current or past employer.

tiredwired··on The China Cultural Clash
No, they are not THE platforms. Billions of people are not on Twitter and do not follow the mindless babble.

Go ahead and downvote because facts make you angry.

tiredwired··on The China Cultural Clash
World superpowers and associated people should not take tweets so seriously. People read too much meaning and emotion into throwaway comments.
tiredwired··on Ask HN: Would you trade a 20 percent raise for an extra day off?
Stakeholders don't care. You still have to get X amount of work down by Y date. You should take all the money you can get.

Would you trade a 40% raise for 2 days off?

tiredwired··on The FCC Fined 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' 'The Walking Dead' for Use of Emergency Tones
The thing that startled me in the past was a woman screaming in a radio commercial. That was around Halloween though. I still had to look around and see if someone was in distress outside.
tiredwired··on Misfits Market raises $16.5M to bring ugly veggies to your door
I thought the "ugly" veggies were cut up and used in soups - not thrown out.

tiredwired··on Ask HN: How to hire when your company and Glassdoor reviews are genuinely bad?
They can try rebranding and get a clean Glassdoor profile under the new name. You don't even need to change the legal company name or move offices. They will still be a bad company though.
