tipsysquid··on Ask HN: What payment processor can a private individual use to offer a service?
My company Gilded[1] can help small businesses or individual contractors get paid with cryptocurrency (stable coins), Stripe (local fiat currencies) integration, or wire transfers.

Setting up a Coinbase account and getting paid with Gilded would be fairly easy. Also, USDC (stablecoin) can be exchanged 1:1 on Coinbase and can be quickly exchange for fiat in your bank account.

Happy to help or discuss specific scenarios.

tipsysquid··on Apple changes default MacBook charging behavior to improve battery health
For Dell users, you can do this as well in the BIOS if you run Linux, and the Dell battery utility in Windows 10
tipsysquid··on Facebook's PR feels broken
I'm no fan of Facebook, but this comment demonstrates the complexity of the situation in ways many entrepreneurs can appreciate
tipsysquid··on The latest version of Slack has a setting to disable the WYSIWYG editor
I like threads for this purpose. I really wish I could see a filtered chain of conversation as a subtopic of a main channel. Not sure how UX or exposure to this feature would look, but that wont stop me from dreaming.
tipsysquid··on Upgrading Messaging on Android in the U.S. with RCS
iMessage is the implied feature that Apple never has to mention but everyone knows about.

They have no incentive to bring it up more, the green bubbles are burned into the psyche of every Apple user.

tipsysquid··on America’s largest milk producer files for bankruptcy
The effect of the market ordering is more interesting than I anticipated.

On one hand, this is encouraging decentralization of milk production. Which at first sounds neat.

But that probably isnt more efficient; the market is distorted.

tipsysquid··on Gmail marking email from me as spam
For those of us that can, we must vote with our dollars. To divorce ourselves from Google is expensive and painful, but to ignore it is catastrophe
tipsysquid··on Qt for Android better than ever before
I've been getting more and more interested with qt development. As a linux user, I'm exhausted from the bloat and cycle stealing electron apps ( with VSCode being a notable exception to this rule). But more recently, the idea of writing one app in Qt, running it everywhere between Android, a Librem 5, and desktop platfoms is really exciting.
tipsysquid··on EasyOS: An experimental Linux distribution designed from scratch for containers
I have been wanting something like you describe for forever. Honestly, the closest thing that I've found to this that works-out-the-box is Crostini in ChromeOS. I don't love ChromeOS, but if I started building what you're looking for, I'd look at Crostini for inspiration.

Crostini can spawn gui apps through Wayland instead of pure X. That takes effort and I wish they would contribute it back.

tipsysquid··on Device vanishes on command after military missions
I'd love to read the collection of short stories this appears in, Ogon Diabła, but I cannot seem to find a published edition in English. Any suggestions?
tipsysquid··on US government approves T-Mobile/Sprint merger
I used to think nearly the same way. But consider this systemic risk to wireless competition: If T-Mobile is not allowed to buyout/merge with Sprint, and Sprint continues the spiral that they are currently in, there is a possibility that AT&T and/or Verizon end up with more spectrum in the end. T-Mobile isn't nearly as capitalized to buy Sprint's premium spectrum on the open market like the other 2 competitors are.
tipsysquid··on CVE-2019-9193: Not a Security Vulnerability
I assume you mean this Raymond Chen of Microsoft[0]
