timothevs··on Give Firefox a chance
Memory, and CPU on a retina MBP in my case. The bug is still open, with no signs of being fixed anytime soon. I really do want to switch back, but this is a deal breaker.
timothevs··on Much ado about Shakespeare in Indian cinema
Um India has had this tale for centuries. The story of Heer Ranjha is an immortal tale in the Punjab, and has been adapted many times over. ;/
timothevs··on Notre-Dame cathedral: Firefighters tackle blaze in Paris
Today, we are all French. As a student of European History, I want to curl up and cry. I proposed to my beautiful wife of 11 years beneath the spire of Notre Dame. We fell in love walking along the bouquinistes. There is a terrible empty feeling in my heart this afternoon. It is like losing a part of myself this day.

Yes, I know the Notre Dame will be built again. But that might not happen till after I am long gone.

timothevs··on Input: Fonts for Code
I LOVE Input. In fact, I have been using it since 2014. It quickly replaced Pragmata Pro for me when it came out. And it is free. Awesome.
timothevs··on Steve Jobs on why Xerox failed
Yes sir. Though I held on to a fair share.
timothevs··on Steve Jobs on why Xerox failed
I agree. Whatever he might have been in his personal life, his business sense, and marketing acumen really make it a pleasure to watch the keynotes, and video interviews.

Full disclaimer, I was a full-on Apple fanboi from the Nineties to the mid 2010s.

Well, if the shoe fits...

That paper was quite a fascinating read. Thank you for the recommendation.
timothevs··on Vivaldi 2.0 – includes sync, resizable tab tiling, floating web panels and more
Is it possible to load two instances - with different profiles? For instance Opera/Opera Beta can be run simultaneously with different profiles.
timothevs··on UFO spotted by US fighter jet pilots
Thanks for sharing the book.

I agree that the releases from the US Gov the last few weeks have been VERY surprising, nearly a 90 degree shift from the "deny everything" policy that they assumed for the last few decades.

Going one step further, at the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, I just wonder, what actually has changed to prompt this change in policy of denying everything

timothevs··on Ask HN: What tech were you convinced would take the world by storm but didn't?
Ha. I met my wife on ICQ, looking for people to practice my German with.
timothevs··on Monospaced Programming Fonts with Ligatures
I am a huge, huge fan of the free font “Input”[1]. Just love how customizable it is, so much so, that I’ve replaced Pragmata Pro with Input on Sublime.
