tibbydudeza··on Utah to let AI examine patients and prescribe medication without human oversight
I have severe backpain - some opioid will do nicely.
tibbydudeza··on Nearly 200 people under observation after Irkutsk lab worker dies from plague
Pangolins actually - they carried a strain of the virus that had the ability to infect human cells via ACE2 receptor.

The bat variant did not have that - wet market - close proximity - a fortuitous gene swap and hey presto.

tibbydudeza··on Amazon seeks to offload $8B of Nvidia chips to investors
2008 is calling again - SPV's of subprime mortages.
tibbydudeza··on Classified F-35 stealth parts diverted to Hong Kong by shipper, gone missing
Commercial shipping - oh dear.
tibbydudeza··on South Africa is at risk of becoming a mafia state
We have a vigilant free press reporting on scandals and a court system which holds the govt fully accountable.

I see far more corruption evident in the US right now with Trump and his family and their crypto investments and dodgy govt deals - perhaps the Economist should do an article.

People being pardoned by paying for it.

tibbydudeza··on Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland now all have nationalist first ministers
It is inevitable that NI will join the Irish Republic in some manner as a special devolved state, but it will happen naturally as the demographics shift from the Unionist to the Republican side as per voting and the younger generations identifying as unionist will care less about the parades and bonfires and far more pressing things like economy and opportunities in Ireland and EU.

Nobody wants to go back to the "troubles" except for the hardcore old timers who are slowly dying out on both sides.

tibbydudeza··on Automattic's board forces CEO Matt Mullenweg into leave of absence
Spend more time with my family :).
tibbydudeza··on Automattic's board forces CEO Matt Mullenweg into leave of absence
Finally.
tibbydudeza··on Homeschooling Explodes 200% in NYC
One daughter was on the spectrum and could not deal with high school - we tried finding her an alternative school but they are scarce and too far away - we enrolled her in a home-schooling program with certification and gateway to school leaving certificate but had her go in daily to a tutoring center to work at her own pace but a tutor checking if she is on track.

Kids will goof off if you don't check on them and parents make for terrible teachers - seen so many admiring the lesson materials when it arrives and start with gusto with mom taking more off days and eventually it all fizzles out and the kids end up without a school leaving certificate.

tibbydudeza··on Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B
Time to fork it and build a new place for true open source.
tibbydudeza··on Git at any scale
Clearly you either don't read the news or a fanboy or some of his stunts and lies does not bother you.
tibbydudeza··on US Military's cyber command unit grapples with cluster of deaths by suicide
I am not watching the cartel or ISIS ones - they are staged and frankly rather disturbing to me.

I saw one with an aftermath of a HIMARS strike with anti-personal warheads (ball bearings) on a Russian drone training camp in a forest, the heaps of bodies did not bother me at all - was more wondering about the trees and how above a certain height there were no branches or leaves.

On a visceral level I understand the why of the killing from the Ukrainian side - it is morally just.

tibbydudeza··on US Navy sailors try to throw themselves overboard after 250 days at sea
Like in Vietnam and fragging their commanding officers.
tibbydudeza··on US Military's cyber command unit grapples with cluster of deaths by suicide
I have always wondered how the Ukrainian FPV drone operators cope - some of footage is pretty gruesome - esp when the drone chases some hapless Russian running away before zeroing in and then blowing him up.

Some even shows double tap mortar rounds being dropped on Russians and then gravely wounded they drop another one to finish them off.

tibbydudeza··on Black lung rates in Appalachia are high as the 1970s, thousands of miners sick
Come on - coal mining - nonunion rules for health/safety = black lung.
tibbydudeza··on In Memory of My Wife, Elise Cawley, with Thanks for 36 Wonderful Years
A beloved wife and mother and a brilliant partner as well. My condolences to the family.
tibbydudeza··on U.S. used 'virtually all' of its long-range precision missiles during Iran war
To no farking effect - Iran is still as bellicose as ever.
tibbydudeza··on Intel unveiled its iconic Core 2 Duo family 20 years ago – dethroned AMD Athlon
Good times - we will not mention the short lived single core Core Solo used in the Macbook Air.

E8500 was a gem.

tibbydudeza··on Goodbye POSIX, Hello Tea Room: Inside MinervaOS Architecture
Arggh why the anime font - loath it.
tibbydudeza··on IRGC claims it destroyed Amazon's Bahrain data center
A show army - the monarchy don't trust an army of rural peasants - they might get ideas and stage a coup.
tibbydudeza··on Ghost Cut – or why Cut and Paste is broken everywhere
I just want a universal clipboard that works.
tibbydudeza··on Unlimited AI tokens aren't unlimited after all as US Army burns through supply
How do I launch a Tomahawk strike against an IRGC base even though there are satellite imagery of kids playing during Iranian school break.
tibbydudeza··on “We have information that Moonshot distilled Fable for the development of K3”
Proof - they also claimed that China has an ASML UEV machine - crickets when ASML said it was impossible due to all the safeguards and assistance needed to operate one.

The current US administration is known to be collection of BS artists and liars.

tibbydudeza··on The Computer at the Bottom of a Canal
I read about them in Byte Magazine - the names were memorable - Objek - Numerik and a third chip - there were no silicon afaik but jsut emulator circuit boards run by a Sun workstation.
tibbydudeza··on My midlife crisis Corolla is fast, furious, and modded
A few burned out - a high compression turbo charged 1.3L 3 cylinder engine is not a good idea.

VW has one on their Polo GTI but it is the iconic 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine (EA888) - the normal Polo has 1L turbo charged 3 cylinder but even they did not try high boost.

tibbydudeza··on Syria's solar boom is redefining Middle East's energy model
We had to do the same here in South Africa - 2 hourly blackouts and innovative financing packages and cheap panels and inverters from China - you pay a monthly rent to own fee and they cover the maintenance.

Nearly every third house has panels, but we don't feed back to the grid - the idiotic local authority lost the plot here and wanted to charge an enormous fee for a feedback meter.

tibbydudeza··on Resetting Xbox
That is retailer margins.
tibbydudeza··on Microsoft fire idTech team at Id software
Unreal Engine has become a commodity, and it is easier to recruit people with experience - even CD Projekt Red gave up.

The only major studios doing their own thing is Rockstar and Bethesda.

I would not include Cloud Imperium here because they are forever in a beta state with no clear ship date in the future for their two games.

tibbydudeza··on Claude has the worst pricing – but people want it
DeepSeek - way cheaper and performant- still waiting for the awesome apps Fable enabled.

I doubt it.

tibbydudeza··on I used Claude Code to get a second opinion on my MRI
I would trust a doctor with decades of experience and his diagnosis and treatment plan than some LLM.

It like using WebMD for any ache and pain and it is saying it might either be Lupus or cancer.
