I've started doing breathing exercises by wim hof.

Also started doing ice cold baths and now i can stay in the chilled water for many minutes without feeling any cold. It feels soóoo good.

I also feel so much happier and energetic and no longer take any meds or ssri like before.

I think wim has discovered something really amazing and I have so much gratitude that he shares this knowledge on yt.

Not asking rhetorically but what's the genuine use for these things apart from generating a.i. writer type seo spam or some funny text for discussion.

I mean with openai i can certainly tell one use case: GitHub copilot. Can this be used to create something equally useful? Or maybe like an ai game like the dungeon game.. is this that powerful too?

I think normalising emails is equally important these days, esp if you are offering any sort of free trial on your website (that incurs a cost to the seller) as it has become quite common for freeloaders to create dozens of accounts using the dots and plus signs just to abuse the free services.

Laravel livewire / Phoenix liveview and a lot of new frameworks are now focusing on bridging this gap between ssr and clientside - almost trying to make it seamless.

Though only time will tell, what can of worms that will open later.

I was picturing the engineers who must have done like a 1000 iterations of this stuff before they were able to come up with a crystal clear image on the film.

What an adventure it must be to make these things and one day finally having the joy to see the whole world use your inventions like this.

Having never worked on any hardware I can only imagine how much fun (and test of patience!) it must be to use/bend the laws of physics to make such things.

Wow these are just excellent and even though it says spacecraft design most of them ring just as true for software design.. or maybe just true in general!

This one really made me laugh :D

> At the start of any design effort, the person who most wants to be team leader is least likely to be capable of it.

What an excellent link, thanks for sharing. Definitely bookmarking this.

I read an amazing quote online about any satelite company trying to create their own custom rocket to launch its satellite instead of using existing infrastructure.

The day they decide to get into that is the day they stop being a satelite company and become a rocket company instead. The person put in much more eloquent words so wish i could find that comment but its sounds similar to that.

I'm sorry if my comment came off like that but my point is we don't need such lists and more walled gardens - where is the selection criteria for this?

Who decides these domains? Why does my domain not equal to a domain of my competitor? Does it put me at a disadvantage as a small player if I'm not on this list?

And this isn't just one instance but it keeps happening over and over.. Apps getting rejected from play store due to arbitrary standards while there is news of big cos like google making secret deals with apple to get exceptions and special advantages which the small guy can't (1)

Be honest OP you were making this to actually procrastinate on whatever it is you had to be actually doing at that time, didn't you? :P nah I'm just kidding, this looks like a wonderful site and congrats on completion and launch!

Have UK courts heard of the Streisand effect? I have a strong urge to search the said tweet to find what the hell did he say and I'm pretty sure it will be like the first or second result in google images if i had enough motivation for it.

You know I let a lot of important things in Firefox slide (like the poor Webspeech API support, bad text-to-speech, some missing extensions and a lot of other things) but I still make it a habit to use it over Chrome (and recommend it to everybody) as somewhere in my mind it feels like a small revolt against the giant evil Google corp.

But stuff like this and other shenanigans in the past (like Mr.robot, misuse of funding, etc) is really off-putting sometimes. It really makes me feel naive and just drinking the support open-source kool-aid.

Why we say nothing can't go faster than speed of light when on the other hand we have quantum entanglement which shows otherwise.

I knows this is a dumb question but please pardon me as my knowledge of physics is very limited.

Oculus quest 2 no doubt about it.

Unless you are super rich and don't care about money or just hate Facebook - I don't think anything beats the hardware quality of q2.

The definition of open source is getting blurry day by day.

Just today I was looking for an infinite scroll JavaScript library and even though it's oss with 7k+ github star, you still need to buy a commercial licence to use it.

I really wish we had separate open source licence for such projects which require a commercial use licence.

Ok thank you. Sorry I'm not from the west so we don't really have such concepts here and it's very confusing. I posted some follow up questions but deleted it because I think they were too personal. But I will try to read more about this as it's quite interesting conversation.

I'm glad at least the AI is able to understand this gender/pronoun thing and even able to joke about it because I for one don't get it at all and still confused about this whole thing (1)

My biggest issue with node when I was working on it briefly was I couldn't do the 'import' statements like wepback. Are they supported too now?

I'm not a web developer so I had a very hard time understanding why there are so many different type of imports in JavaScript like require, import, umd, amd, etc and which one works in browser and which one works in node?

Also why do so many libraries have this strange 5 line header code for this umd, amd, business. Is that to make their packages work with nodejs?

Does anyone who knows enough JavaScript point me in the right direction about it. I find all this very confusing.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Learned a thing or two too! :)

Roughly speaking how much money did you invest into making this? Just curious if this is something an indie hacker can hope to do one day OR do you need some deep pockets to make a site like this?

This is content marketing done right. You taught me something first in exchange for visiting your service, should I ever need it. I'm fine with such form of advertising.

How many of you are waiting for X to happen before you can do Y? Maybe we can share that so other people can give us their insights.

For me, I naively quit my job last year joining the indie hacker movement of creating my own online business. And now I'm just obsessed with finishing it and getting it to the same mrr as my last job's salary before I can do anything else.

I used to travel all the time but now all I can think of is my daughter's future. Pretty hard to go live your life when your financial situation becomes a mess :/

That's awesome but would you mind explaining this a little bit more to those not very unix savvy? I think I get the first three parts:

1) Create a temp buffer file

2) Read the file constantly to STDOUT?

3) What does netcat httpbin.org 80 | netcat -lp 8080 do?

What would be a good use of this circular pipeline? Can you give me some example of what you use this for? Thanks

Sorry this is for my own curiosity because I know nothing about US legal system, but I was watching this documentary recently about Bikram Choudhury, a yoga guru who was being prosecuted for several sex crimes and also had an arrest warrant issued against him. But in the documentary he successfully managed flee to Thailand then Mexico. They even managed to track him but he just said fuck off and that was that. Did not face any jail time and now he is back to conducting his Yoga sessions.

My point is what stopped Elizabeth Holmes from doing something like this? She surely knew what was coming her way and she is kinda unscrupulous too, so why didn't she run?
