Yeah, it's awful. Gratz! Doing it fast isn't good, if it can't do it well. Agreed on all the HTML/CSS rape comments.
thomasb··on Ask HN: Is a 27" Screen Worth It?
My 27" Imac has been a real pleasure to use. I program 80% of the time, and that much screen real estate can really help you keep everything you need for a certain development task visible at a glance. I have a larger 30" 2560x1600 screen on my linux box, and the more the merrier. It is worth it.

Also, I bought mine through apple's refurb program, and it's been running perfectly. I would suggest that as a good way to save some money.

thomasb··on Kevin Rose on the sources of Digg's problems
I totally agree. Hiring blindly like that is hazardous to say the least.
thomasb··on Kevin Rose on the sources of Digg's problems
No news here. This happens to a lot of orgs that rapidly hire. No big deal. I think Kevin's best work is ahead of him.
thomasb··on Tell HN: just made my first dollar on the Internet from my freemium web app

thomasb··on Why entrepreneurs should love rap music
Wow, these "why entrepreneurs should..." articles weren't very to good to begin with. Now, they are just outright silly.
thomasb··on Thank You HN: Deals for Hackers is on
That's great news. Definitely sounds like a good service. I can't wait!
thomasb··on Ask HN: What have you built? (not software related)
"That's beautiful, man." - Snowball
thomasb··on The secret to 4 letter domains: include one (and only one) digit
Just registered ftw1.com... I like this idea. I think there could be a few interesting applications.
thomasb··on Ask HN: PHP for Python programmers
Amen.... I've started to use more than one language, and it's made me a better programmer and far more understanding of how different languages approach problems.

PHP does have problems, but it's easy to pick up. I don't know that learning it will make you a better programmer, but a good programmer can definitely make it solve problems efficiently enough.
