thirtythree··on Ask HN: I've had an idea for a company; my current employer wants me to build it
I was nearly in the same position as you once but it never came to reality within the company. I never left and did it myself either. If I was in your shoes I would stay within the company and do it.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: How does one lead a team in a hackathon?
I've never taken part in a Hackathon but I thought it was all about building something. Creating a story seems very much like fluff. That's not something I would be interested in
thirtythree··on Ask HN: I'm a terrible developer, what now?
Csn you provide more details on what you're doing now and how you made that transition?
thirtythree··on Ask HN: I'm a terrible developer, what now?
These posts come up often on HN and I always comment in agreement. I am the same. I have 7+ years experience and have worked on successful projects. I rarely have bugs in production (I can't remember any actually). I maintain projects that are 5+ years old so I know my code stands the test of time. (5 years might not be a lot to some I guess). I've mentored junior programmers and I spend my time reading about tech/programming stuff. I've probably listened to most of the software engineering daily podcasts.

I would still fail a programming interview.

thirtythree··on Ask HN: What technology to chose for a web app in 2020?
Angular for the frontend makes the most sense to me. React and Svelte are good but you need to bring in a lot more supporting libraries for more complex libraries.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: Do you think this is a good startup idea?
It's a good idea but you will run into the following issues:

* Your users won't have enough data

* Your users will have bad data

* Your users will have sensitive data that they can't upload

* Your model would need to be tweaked for best outcomes

thirtythree··on Ask HN: What is your unpopular opinion about tech?
Angular is better than React
thirtythree··on Ask HN: Ideas on creating passive income streams
I looked at the site and there doesn't seem to be ads. How much does it cost to host?
thirtythree··on Ash HN: Is it worth investing in paid email services hey/superhuman?
I am going to pay for hey. I like the concept and it is one less thing on Google
thirtythree··on Ask HN: How to care about work again?
What?
thirtythree··on Ask HN: You cannot delete comments posts or your account on HN. Concerned?
Unfair to commenters who replied. Why do you have to be fair?
thirtythree··on Ask HN: You cannot delete comments posts or your account on HN. Concerned?
While I like the moderation on HN that's a joke answer. Have you ever had a discussion internally on this? Lots of comments don't fall under 'co-creation' whatever that means. Some comments reveal personal information and should be deletable by the poster.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: What Practices Has Helped You Reach Productivity Zen/Flow?
I've tried to plan and work like this but I end up getting interrupted and it goes all wrong.
thirtythree··on A grandmaster who got Twitch hooked on chess
I have similar feelings about memorising in chess. It gets to the point where it's boring for me
thirtythree··on Coronavirus: Dexamethasone proves first life-saving drug?
I can say, with no politics involved (I'm probably not even in the same country as you) that the WHO messed up to much to have any authority
thirtythree··on Hey: A wildly opinionated new email service from BaseCamp
I think it looks great.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: How to care about work again?
You consider building a website a menial task? I can't understand that mindset at all.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: When, if ever, will it be safe to travel again?
Restrictions on normal life are pretty much gone in my country and most people I encounter are ignoring them. I plan to travel this year after August.
thirtythree··on Facebook establishing a venture arm to invest in startups
Is it worth the ride though? If your goal is to spend your time building something you love then it's a win.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: What language is the most fun to learn
I'm learning Elixir at the moment. I've mainly done OO programming so there's a few new things.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: Is working as a developer on technical route until retirement feasible?
I'm interested in how you moved from architect back to engineer. That's the path I want to take at the moment but I feel I've been out of the game too long now.
thirtythree··on Ask HN: Why did Amazon buy Alexa?
I was wondering how Amazon can afford Alexa. Running the service must cost a lot and it's not like they can show ads
thirtythree··on Ask HN: Did you work too hard in your 20s?
I worked hard but I also travelled a lot. I was in a commited relationship throughout my 20s which made it all the more enjoyable.

But it did seem to go fast. Career wise I have progressed but I've always fantasied about doing the start-up thing. I've never even launched a proper (personal project) website

thirtythree··on What to write down when you’re reading to learn
Do you know of any android app that I can take notes of what is on the screen?
thirtythree··on A Facebook crawler was making 7M requests per day to my stupid website
Curiousity question: does FB use Gmail/Google suite?
thirtythree··on First U.S. woman to walk in space dives to deepest point in the ocean
Has anyone ever "floated" away in space?
thirtythree··on Ask HN: I implemented the life I designed: perfect but I feel lost. What now?
How financially secure are you? I would day invest in people's small companies if you had the money to.
thirtythree··on I was frustrated with reading Twitter threads until today
I actually hate this app and bot. It always pollutes the normal twitter threads which seem to have been greatly improved recently
thirtythree··on Special.fish
You may, it doesn't change my comment though.
thirtythree··on Saying “All Lives Matter” to Siri Now Redirects You to Blacklivesmatter.com
Logically if people have forgotten black lives matter then they have forgotten that all lives matter. I think people who get caught up arguing against logic are purposefully being devisive.
