thiele··on Selling Lemons
I have the MZOO sleep mask as well and it’s the best I’ve found after trying a bunch of different brands. I bought a second as a backup and would rebuy in the future if needed.
thiele··on Glassdoor updated my profile to add my real name and location
I got the same modal, but I opened up DevTools, deleted the modal and was able to then click into my account settings and delete my account.

Source?
thiele··on Be good-argument-driven, not data-driven
This is a really good analogy (gas station customers) that I haven’t heard before. I’ve often tried to describe this ‘low intent’ group but never had a good way to make it relatable.
thiele··on How will the correction in the stock market impact startup fundraising?
The linked article only looks at the time period of the last 50 years. If you believe in big cycles (like covered in Ray Dalio’s “The Changing World Order”), expand that perspective to several hundred years and market returns don’t look quite as guaranteed over a given 20 year period. I’m still formulating my own thesis but it’s a good read if you are into such things.
thiele··on Google requiring all ‘G Suite legacy free edition’ users to start paying
I forward emails for custom domains from my registrars (Namecheap and GoDaddy) to Gmail. Then you can use a free Zoho account that lets you send email from your custom domain from within you Gmail account (sent via Zoho's email servers). It's a bit of work to set up but then you can do everything from within Gmail seamlessly.

I think this is the tutorial I followed years ago: https://medium.com/@raymondgh/how-to-set-up-a-free-custom-do...

thiele··on Spotify trying to lock-in users just after IPO (2018)
I built a tool for exporting your Spotify playlists and library to CSV spreadsheets: http://www.streamexport.com/

It doesn't 'move' your playlists to other services but it gives you a record of all of your playlists that you can control and store locally.

thiele··on Thank you, Y Combinator
I don't know Garry super well but in our few conversations I found him to be one of the smartest and most generous founders I've come across.

Enjoy the time away, Garry!

thiele··on How Evernote Onboards New Users
It's interesting to see how little emphasis is placed on "Evernote, the product" on the homepage. More "Evernote, the ecosystem".
thiele··on Show HN: The HN effect on Dictionary Domains (traffic and revenue numbers)
Agreed. The scrolling function was part of the Wordpress theme. I find it kind of annoying as well.
thiele··on Show HN: The HN effect on Dictionary Domains (traffic and revenue numbers)
Great tip! I'll set that up.
thiele··on Two big announcements

thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
LUL, thanks for the bug report. I'll take a look!
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
Yeah, legit .com dictionary words are all taken. You can sometimes find really obscure ones, but none of the ones on Dictionary Domains are available as .com.
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
Yep, I plan on adding more words and some additional domain extensions. Follow me on twitter for updates: twitter.com/justinthiele
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
It definitely triggers a 'Fear Of Missing Out' response.
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
Buy early ;)
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
There's a filter button there too where you can select the TLD you want to see.
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
Ha, yeah, it'd be interesting to see which domains on there became valuable and/or successful companies.

After I made this I saw Andy Baio did a list back in 2002 too: http://waxy.org/projects/domains/

thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
That's awesome! Now build cool stuff with your new name :)
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
It's funny how product ideas pop up once you see a certain name.
thiele··on Show HN: Unregistered word.tld domain names for your project
Hey HN,

Over the weekend, I built Dictionary Domains to make it super easy to find unregistered {word}.{tld} domains for your next project.

There's some pretty great tools out there that help find domains: I really like Lean Domain Search and back in the day I used Bust A Name a ton. But really, I'm a huge fan of simple verb/noun/adjective domains. I'd happily compromise on the .com extension to get something clean and meaningful.

Here's some of my favorites from the site:

kaput.io proud.cc jud.ge measly.co quaint.io punch.cc closed.cc bubble.io stran.ge chilly.io rainy.io dama.ge puny.io quicke.st

Hopefully you find it helpful!

thiele··on Show HN: SeenDB – Remember all the concerts you've been to
Googling for concert dates does suck. I'm not sure the best way to solve it though. Building a database of concert dates is a big undertaking. It's not uncommon for modern bands to have played 500 - 1000+ concerts. Classic bands twice that amount. Multiplied by thousands of bands. Songkick seems to have done a pretty good job getting a baseline concert database together. Potential for an integration.

The auto-fill currently only suggests bands that have been entered into SeenDB.

thiele··on Show HN: SeenDB – Remember all the concerts you've been to
Yeah, exactly! My original goal was just to get my friends who I attended with to use it and upload their photos :)
thiele··on Show HN: SeenDB – Remember all the concerts you've been to
Yep, that's something I'll be looking at. Setlist.fm could definitely be interesting. Other sites often don't have data about what actually happened at the show though (setlists, photos, videos, attendees). Seems most are focused on upcoming info.

thiele··on Humans vs. Microsoft Excel: The Quest For Smart Tools
Agreed. Although you could replace 'Excel' with 'Word' and still be just as correct.
thiele··on Humans vs. Microsoft Excel: The Quest For Smart Tools
There is low hanging fruit in the problems to solve though. For example, finding and highlighting outliers in a column. It's a relatively simple feature but yields big benefits to users.
