thewavelength··on Bootstrap 4's mobile-first flexbox grid system, now used by default
Laughed at this one:

  styleElement.appendChild(document.createTextNode(styleContent.replace(/;/g, ' !important;')));
thewavelength··on Want to Build a Side Business? Just Buy Great Domain Name
Lucky you. Even informatics students go further:

1. Type google.com into the address bar. They don't know that modern browsers can directly redirect search input to your favorite search engine. 2. Type the domain (including extension) to the google search input. 3. Click on the first link.

I honestly fear the future.

thewavelength··on Our continuing commitment to your privacy with Windows 10
Iirc, in an update end of 2016 the full telemetry weapons have been pushed to W7 and W8 by default. All three OS now include the same level of telemetry. Just wanted to let you know.
thewavelength··on 33rd Chaos Communication Congress Livestreams
Or you just simply have to accept the fact that congress is more than 100%-always-correct-scientific-talks but rather is about entertainment too. And that is a thing Rubin can bring to congress.
thewavelength··on Writing C software without the standard library
What is necessary to do this with C++? Is there a tutorial available on the web?
thewavelength··on Rosetta ends its mission
I wonder why they uploaded a special software which disallows any communication prior to the impact [1]. Why don't they just let Rosetta impact and have a look if it still works? Why is it necessary to shut it down to disallow command instructions from earth?

thewavelength··on What It Costs to Run Let's Encrypt
Funny to see that some of the sponsors on the Let's Encrypt website are linked without https even though they offer https.

thewavelength··on HTTPS' massive speed advantage
Works for me.
thewavelength··on US Declaration of Independence first and final drafts as GitHub diffs
The comment from bertilda-lovejoy just summarizes the first-world problems very well.
thewavelength··on Google collects metadata from Android phones
Does someone really wonder about that?
thewavelength··on New technique produces real randomness
Interesting idea but I wonder why this technique is stated new since it looks very easy and comprehensive to me just by reading some sentences. Is this really new or is this just a bloated message containing something that isn't that hot?

Another side note: the article contains very much sentences (more than 2/3) not directly explaining the new technique. The read was not that great for me, and I guess this counts for most of the readers since it should be well known that random numbers are a hard thing. Don't get me wrong. Explaining things is great but the title doesn't match the most of the content.

thewavelength··on 95 years after disappearance, the USS Conestoga is found
Believing [1], the wreck has already been found in 2009 and identified to be the USS Conestoga in October 2015. Only the official announcement was made now.

thewavelength··on Twitter's missing manual
Way too complex stuff for a minimalistic service like Twitter.
thewavelength··on Pawn: a fast, embeddable, typeless, bytecode-compiled scripting language
You may also have a look at SourcePawn from AlliedModders who enhanced it a lot.
