Of course the are not "taking" it either... they are issuing credit, allowing ease of purchase and providing fraud protection

Your thesis is supported by their financial statements. Their costs are indicative of a company focused on growth. As revenues continue to grow the can scale back marketing and administrative costs as a percentage of revenue to make profits potential. This company has a lot of potential based on the numbers alone... the real problem is the uncertainty in the market for ride and the tech
thedaveoflife··on A guide to difficult conversations
Trying overly hard to make something seem more objective is in a sense an obfuscation of what you really think. Sometimes you need to cut the BS and tell people what's actually on your mind.

In my experience there are two types of coworkers: those that respond well to BS (read: couched language) and those that don't. You just have to recognize who is who.

thedaveoflife··on A Beginner’s Guide to MMT
Inflation is MV = PQ... you are commenting only on the M which is money supply. You have to factor in the other variables, notably V or the rate of spending. If V remains low, then M can increase without significant inflation.
thedaveoflife··on Peak California
>It's a complex interaction of millions of individual decisions and interrelated changes over a period of decades in a way that's not reproducible.

Somewhat incidentally this is the major theme of Tolstoy's masterpiece War and Peace

thedaveoflife··on People Who Eat the Same Meal Every Day
I've eaten the same meal for lunch almost everyday for the last two months: https://www.reddit.com/r/GifRecipes/comments/8trml3/one_pan_...

I did it for health and weight loss reasons but it's also very tasty, easy to prepare and cheap! Highly recommend!

Depends how you define "sales staff". They need to sell their product in order to make money and they certainly have employees who provide a conduit for customers to buy JIRA.

Their sales costs are low, but maybe not having more sale people is negatively affecting revenue growth?

thedaveoflife··on Index Funds May Work a Little Too Well
Your theory directly contradicts the Efficient Market Hypothesis. If "dumb money" is flowing in to large cap funds, institutional investors should be able to take advantage.
thedaveoflife··on As New York Rents Soar, Public Housing Becomes Lifelong Refuge
>Personally, I think it makes the most sense to sell outright a few of the most valuable properties and use the money to make the necessary capital repairs on the rest of the system. If enough of those empty apartments can be fixed up, it might not even be a net loss of public housing

Did you miss the part about the 200,000 family waiting list for public housing?

How about simply adequately funding the Housing authority so under privileged people can live an a decent home?

thedaveoflife··on Apple Reports Record Third Quarter Results
Beats had $1.5 Billion in annual revenue in 2013. Beats + Apple Watch were < $1b revenue in Q3 alone.
thedaveoflife··on Leaked: What's in TPP’s intellectual property chapter
The reason it is kept secret is presumably because the general public has difficulty seeing the ancillary benefits (reduction of trade barriers) and pays close attention to the obvious drawbacks (IP rights for "evil" corporations). This contention is fairly well supported by a cursory read through this or any other internet thread about a trade agreement.

Whether the good in the TPP outweighs the bad is an open question that I don't have an answer to. I am just trying to provide some counter arguments to an otherwise one-sided discussion on here.

thedaveoflife··on Leaked: What's in TPP’s intellectual property chapter
Maybe the best way to ensure access to medicine is by providing economic opportunities to the worlds most impoverished citizens. In other words, if the trade off is say a 10% increase in per capita GDP in exchange for less access to generics, maybe the former is better than the latter?

thedaveoflife··on Germany’s great tuition fees U-turn
One "problem" we have occasionally in Berlin: People enrolling as students without actually attending classes to get all the added benefits of being a student in Germany. Almost everything over here carries a student discount.
