the-kenny··on Should I make this open-source?
Broken with flash-blocker. I'll never come back to a site using this.
the-kenny··on [dead]
No, just forbid guns. Kitchen knives are made to cut food. Guns are made for killing.

"Twenty-two children injured. Versus, at current count, 18 little children and nine other people shot dead. That's the difference between a knife and a gun."

the-kenny··on Kickstarter Project Pebble Leaves Backers Hanging
#4 is a BIG issue with Kickstarter and similar platforms. Especially if something get as "big" as Pebble. People read a blog and think "hey cool, I can pre-order it!". They don't even know what they're doing.
the-kenny··on Kickstarter Project Pebble Leaves Backers Hanging
That's for pre-ordered Pebbles, e.g. the "second" charge after all Kickstarter Bakers got theirs.
the-kenny··on Show HN: Convert online videos to .gif
Works pretty good: http://forgif.me/gm
the-kenny··on Another Xcode Version, Another Example of Crappy Apple QA
For the record: This bug was in Xcode 4.2 too: Labels in the Interface Builder behaved exactly like this.
the-kenny··on US teacher tracks his bike rides by GPS - and creates some stunning artwork
Nothing special, and nothing new. I think I saw more beautiful work.

As for for the pictures: I expected a human male reproduction organ...

the-kenny··on Show HN: An iPad app to teach kids how to program
I like the concept and the graphics, but I dislike "website in a webview"-apps. Why not simply release this app as a website?
the-kenny··on Private Beta Access to Geeklist for YC News Readers (code: YCREADERS1)
{"response":"ok","errors":null}
the-kenny··on Poll: Facebook usage (monday morning crowd)
To clarify this a bit: I use Facebook as a passive notification platform where people can contact me when they don't want or can't use another channel.
the-kenny··on Poll: Facebook usage (monday morning crowd)
I don't think any of the answers fit for me. I keep facebook open all the time, but don't really check very often. Only periodically when checking rss and such stuff or when I'm really bored.
the-kenny··on [dead]
It's not about the suicide of a person, it's about the suicide of a project.

I like.

the-kenny··on Show HN: gpgsend.com - encrypted emails from your browser.
Looks like it doesn't respect additional UIDs. I have one uid for my @googlemail address and one for my @gmail address. I can't send to @googlemail using your tool.
the-kenny··on Exporting VIM Syntax Highlight
In Emacs:

M-x htmlfontify-buffer or M-x htmlize

the-kenny··on Android Issue 887: Unable to launch emulator on MacOSX 10.5.
It's 10.5. Two major versions back. I can fully understand when Google doesn't want to support it.
the-kenny··on Poll: How much cell phone data do you use a month?
Ack. I use <500mb
the-kenny··on Yahoo Store now C++ (comments by pg from 2003)
"Too afraid to learn Lisp"

This is sad. Very very sad.

the-kenny··on Lion removes Java?
They don't ship it by default.

If you run `java` in the terminal, Lion detects this and automatically installs it.

the-kenny··on DuckDuckGo: Escape your search engine filter bubble
The first example is totally borked. They first search for "climate change" (notice the ") and then search for climate change (without quotes). Of course the search engine shows different results for different queries.
the-kenny··on Germany to abandon nuclear power by 2022
The government here (I come from Germany) wants to keep one nuclear power plant active if the power use spikes unexpected - they hold a loophole open.

I personally don't believe this story until the last plant is dismantled. The government promised to abandon nuclear power years ago, just to break this promise some years later.

the-kenny··on defaults write com.evernote.Evernote HideAdsInSourceList YES
For Evernote on OS X, this disables all ads. Nice example on how not to implement ads.
the-kenny··on Key signing party
Someone could man-in-the-middle the local wireless lan or spy out your passphrase.
the-kenny··on Why OS X just doesn't cut it
If you don't like it, don't use it.
the-kenny··on Block disposable emails
In Gmail, you can add arbitrary dots (.) to your email address and add filters based on it: f.o.o@gmail.com You can also append a plus-sign with arbitrary text on it: foo+asdfsdfaiugo@gmail.com Both will route mails to foo@gmail.com.

As said, you can add a filter to add a label to all mails to this address and skip inbox for them. That's what I do.

the-kenny··on I Hate Voicemail
In soviet russia, voicemail leaves messages for you.
the-kenny··on Zed's new project: Vulnerability Arbitration
Why not use GnuPG?
the-kenny··on Ask HN: An Acceptable Erlang
Are you familiar with Erlant/OTP? Real applications rarely use 'pure' message passing, but wrap everything in OTP's behaviors.
the-kenny··on Android App Secretly Forwards Text Messages
You could install it, Android allows software installation without the Market. It should just not get distributed through the Market. It's Spyware.
the-kenny··on Android App Secretly Forwards Text Messages
It's just spyware. It should be forbidden.

If you think you need something like this in your relationship, your partner deserves something better than you. If you think your partner betrays you, talk to him/her.

the-kenny··on Vim tutorial videos
Yeah, the title is misleading and it's intention is to flame... Please change it to something meaningful.
