And I guess most people could not even distinct a diamond from polished glass.
Anyway it looks like they created a very tiny diamond. So it looks to me we should not expect man made diamond rings soon.
A 700kB JavaScript page can take up to 10 sec. to render on older mobile devices. And a 500kB image can contain megapixels which will slow down non-PGU browsers.
Personally I always go for a max 2 sec. limit on all devices.
But thinking about it I can't remember a single ad. Today more and more people have an ad filter in their head. This means that Google earns a lot of money from ads that have a lot of exposure but almost zero effect.
The storage and production is highly regulated. Every suspicious event must be communicated with the "Nationaal Coördinator Terrorismebestrijding" (coordinator counterterrorism).
This is what I don't get about YouTubers. They created a business with basically only one source of income. This is bad practice in every business book.
I am a freelancer. If I only had one customer my business would be instantly over when they didn't hire me anymore.
YouTubers put too much trust in an untrustworthy business partner.
Do those vaccines work on all mutations or are they like the common flu vaccines that must be adapted every year?
Is Linux a viable option as mobile OS? I've got a feeling that it is almost as a 'dumb' phone. You got your calculator and SMS app but that's about it.
Or would going to something like LineageOS be a better option?
I still miss Mercurial. Unfortunately most people moved to Git so I also moved to it.
If that control is gone there is no privacy.
It looks like a lot of people are under the assumption that enabling VPN means system wide.
The Mad Man series are about an advertisement company in the fifties.
Now I don't think Amazon is stupid so there must be a reason for this experience.
I also think they know something we don't.
As you can read in my comment I agree with you. For example working with text in Gimp is just horrible. And Inkscape is very good untill you need it for CMYK.
But this thread is about owning your PC. And then I think all those trade-offs can be overcome. Sometimes this means thinking in other directions. For example the choice to design in CSS instead of Photoshop.
I don't think you can say: 'I cannot get away from Apple'.
But you can say: 'I choose to stay at Apple because I think it is more convenient'.
The choice is yours.
The fastest wingsuit flight almost topped 400km/h so maybe the real question is how much extra speed was gained with those little EDFs.
I am programming on Ubuntu (C#, PHP, Javascript) with Jetbrains software. This works absolutely great.
For 3D work I use Blender.
But for graphical work I agree that there are still alternatives missing.
Figma is a very good alternative for Sketch. Scribus is a good alternative for Indesign. Krita is very good for concept art. But that's about it.
Inscape is a good alternative for Illustrator, but only if you work in RGB.
Gimp can do what Photoshop can but it will take you 3 times as long.
But for me the trade-offs work. I want to own my computer so I choose to work in Gimp instead of Photoshop. I also started to design websites directly with CSS. And I switched from 3DsMax to Blender (which isn't a trade-off anymore).
The choice is yours.
Linux for mobile is also not an alternative. Since there are so many apps missing it can't be compared with Android and iOS. Well at least for me this includes some banking apps that make my life just so much easier.
The only real options right now are the Android forks like LineageOS I think.
Most modern render engines render rays from the camera into the scene. This speeds up rendering a lot but also means rendering caustics will need a huge amount of samples because the probability of seeing light from a camera through glass is very low. Bi-directional path tracing fixes some of these problems.
So it can be done but always at a cost (rendering times).
In Blender I have done this a couple of times and even used different IORs for the RGB colors to get real world results.
Imho the taste is a big trade-off, but growing them on water takes way less space and also makes a failed harvest less likely.
But what seems to be the main issue here is that it must be an active Facebook account.
I don't think any judge could call that a fair policy.
After different types of exercise I believe what matters most is keeping the blood flowing and stimulating blood flow.
Strength is nice but when acids still build up it does you no good.
There are also no shortcuts. Exercise takes at least half an hour a day.
In my experience walking half an hour a day can be as good as lifting weights.
It was just that there were some holes in Windows that were exploited by bots.
So props to Sony for making this possible in a, I assume, much smaller chip.
I remember one time I installed Windows 95/98. I wanted the PC to be on internet but did not have a firewall for Windows. But I knew the internet address where I could get one.
So after installing Windows I took my chances, connected to the internet, downloaded the firewall asap, installed it, and was already too late. The PC was compromised within 10 minutes and I had to reinstall it.
But is also amazing raytrace algorithms improved over time. So both hardware and software make real-time raytracing possible.
A very nice 'guide' for papers that make software improvements possible is the YouTube channel 2 minute papers.
