Personally, I think Facebook has peaked and is headed downward, so hopefully we don't have to find out what the Facebook empire would look like.

The code is overly complicated and overly extensive, I could probably rebuild it with half the code and make it so much better. But I've been delaying as it is....

I don't like it, it feels to corporate or maybe its the 'world' in the background.... maybe its just cheesy.

Apparently someone tried to do something like this in Canada, due to pressure from the telecoms the site was sacked.

naw, some are from that site, but a lot of them are just collected over time from the internet in general.

Sadly I erased my Facebook account with all my connections.

I uploaded a .gif and got a huge code dump in return.

This is probably a more practical method.

i'll comment on this so that in 9 months it will be in my comments section and ill be able to confirm or deny this speculation.

seems to be doing pretty poorly on iPhone, two and a half stars.

sharing pictures all around you, tagging your location, listening to the ambient sounds around it, centralized server.... anyone else see this as a serious privacy fail.... I'm still going try it out, but just saying.

You got to find something thats interesting to you, then it will be easier to stick to it. My friend and I have worked on various projects from start to end, but sometimes he comes up with good ideas that have nothing to do with his interests. You can get motivated for a day or two, but it drops off afterwards.

Find something you like, and force yourself to work on it in your free time. Don't give yourself to much time either, if you have 8 hours a day there is much more to waste. Once you got a good base you can spend more time (8 hours a day) cause you'll be invested by that point.

Do you think its reasonable for me to have a preference for operating in Canada? My server is currently in the USA but I do know that once there is traction(profit) ill move it to Canada and keep it here.

Should point out that I have already developed a minimum viable product. Its in version 1, I'm working on a set of updates to make it better.

Don't know how active the start-up community is here, but Toronto and Vancouver would be your best bets. As for a country, Canada is the best.

Toronto is cold during the winter, people are friendly, pretty laid back culture, which can be a bad thing when people don't get angry about the BS that goes on here sometimes. Taxes are high, but its probably worth it in the long run.

i do use jquery for some of it, also got some methods from the internet to make some tasks easier. So its not totally from scratch.

That is true, probably build out the site and extend/fix the framework as necessary.

the site is my baby, I want to make a job out of it.(building it from scratch made my skills increase 10 fold).

I suppose though, now that its been made, I do have a 'framework' to work with.

its seems to be more of a 'my framework' VS 'someone else's framework'

suppose so, maybe then the question becomes "is the product compelling enough"?
