raw fresh meat works for us too, no supplements needed.
th0waway··on American Hunter Killed Cecil, Beloved Lion
Meanwhile, abortion is killing hundreds of children today, and no one cares. Alternatively: ISIS is killing people for not proclaiming Mohammed as their prophet. Or: an African-American person is being killed for his skin color. Getting this upset over a lion is ludicrous.

Seriuosly, the guy bought a hunting license and killed a lion with it - if you want to blame someone, blame the government that sold the license.

th0waway··on GitHub threatens to shut down a repository for using the word 'retard'
Sooo, what you're saying is that it's OK for any company to ignore any rights of yours that they don't agree with? Interesting. Of course, it isn't illegal, but does that still mean they should do it?

Category view versus inside view, as expounded upon in another link on HN today: http://edge.org/events/the-edge-master-class-2007-a-short-co...

Funny how category view seems to work for everything EXCEPT human beings </sarcasm>

th0waway··on Same-Sex Marriage Is a Right, Supreme Court Rules
holy crap! "granted by the US Constitution" - wow, where to begin?

Here, how about this: our 'rights' are not granted by the Constitution, they are emphasized, publicly proclaimed. The Constitution delineates the rights and responsibilities of the GOVERNMENT. Anything granted can be taken away.

th0waway··on Valve has put Ultimate General: Gettysburg on the Steam store main page
And then Lincoln goes and proves that the South was right to secede, by suspending parts of the Constitution in the Union as he saw fit.

If you read the secession declarations, the slavery question was just the straw that broke the camels back.

th0waway··on Why we hate Lisp
Ooops, an old link to CLASP. Here's a newer link:

th0waway··on Why we hate Lisp
The one thing that I take away from all of this is that the people complaining just don't 'get it'. I don't know whether it's a personal failing of the individuals involved or something about lisp that is orthogonal to most people's thought processes, but the page reads more like (to me) sour grapes than a reasoned discourse on why lisp sucks. Compare that to the article posted yesterday about CLASP (https://drmeister.wordpress.com/2014/09/18/announcing-clasp/) - a brilliant piece of engineering that the creator said was just not doable in other languages, and you have a huge cognitive dissonance. But then, ymmv.
th0waway··on In Turnabout, Disney Cancels Tech Worker Layoffs
nope, just means they have 12 months to get the next indentured servant lined up. lose/lose, still.
th0waway··on Spotify raises $526M at a $8.5B valuation
Spotify has helped me find new music that I don't think I would have found through my 'normal' channels. And it has resulted in the purchase of a couple of albums too.
th0waway··on Microsoft announces support for SSH
not to early to cry wolf, but given MS' history, I would not put it past them to try something.
th0waway··on Baltimore Residents Begin Clearing Debris After Night of Riots
This is what happens when you have populations that think they are above the law, and that prey on other citizens that aren't like them (FTFY)
th0waway··on EU study recommends OpenBSD
Yep, the issue was fixed (even though it took a while).
th0waway··on Apple now rejecting apps with Pebble Smartwatch support
This is a clear violation of Anti-trust laws.
