th0br0··on The warp drive will have to wait
The more scientific posts seem to be at https://hackaday.io/project/5596-em-drive
th0br0··on How to Compromise the Enterprise Endpoint
Thanks for that lenghty reply! Interesting to hear that NOD32 is still the best.
th0br0··on How to Compromise the Enterprise Endpoint
Any proof for this claim?
th0br0··on StartSSL starts LetsEncrypt competitor product
Their ... 'English' is just atrocious to read.

  Install and https enabled, no any coding, support Windows server and Linux server;
  DV SSL certificate that up to 5 domains with one year period;
th0br0··on Germany Runs Up Against the Limits of Renewables
Because we have got a serious issue with finding long-term storage solutions for nuclear waste. And past commission(s) on solving this issue have often ended in a rather public and politically bad fiasco.
th0br0··on Android No Longer Fragmented
The OS version doesn't matter as much here. There is a huge gap in API functionality betwen 2.3.x and >4.x That's the only thing that matters for a developer as the official Android support libraries hide most of the remaining >4.x API differences.
th0br0··on Secret airplane bedrooms where flight attendants sleep
I knew that these exist, but have never seen pictures of them until now - so thanks!
th0br0··on GCHQ's Boiling Frogs paper on software development
The sad thing is that they seem to be developing Gaffer on Windows. At least most files in the repo have the +x bit set...
th0br0··on WhatsApp Message Hacked by John McAfee and Crew
The user has to allow the app to listen to all notifications manually. It can't be done automatically / from within the app and is part of the Settings app on Android.

That said, this is quite useful for services like PushBullet for forwarding your notifications etc.

th0br0··on Toil – A Python Workflow Engine
I believe SCL refers to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_Linux

It's an unusual abbreviation though.

th0br0··on The DAO Hub is now live
So many buzzwords. What is a DAO?
th0br0··on Emacs for Data Science
No spacemacs love? It's by far the most noob-friendly way to get started with emacs.
th0br0··on Heroku Kafka
I wonder whether this will also support the upcoming Kafka Streaming?
th0br0··on Dropbox Project Infinite
So this is similar to Cern VMFS presented a few days ago here with the FS being mutable? Neat!
th0br0··on Docker Goes native on non-Linux OS with latest beta
I'm confused. Why is this hailed as a private beta? The binaries are there for everyone to download ... https://github.com/docker/docker/releases for the client & https://master.dockerproject.org/ for the master
th0br0··on When Wifi goes down: Transfer files from Air gapped machines using QR codes
The maximum storage capacity seems to be 2953 bytes ([1]). Although that's with error correction level L, so you can only read it as long as you have 93% of all codewords.

th0br0··on How I hacked my local ISP and some general learnings
Good old qwerty!
th0br0··on Skylake's Linux power management is dreadful you shouldn't buy until it's fixed
This is probably a slightly different configuration, but I also see support for low Cstates on my Skylake processor (running 4.6.0 rc2)

th0br0··on Statement on LambdaConf 2016
There's one sentence that stands out:

LambdaConf cannot live up to its goal of being a “friendly community of like-minded souls” when it does not protect current and potential members of that community who are vulnerable to those who would deny their humanity.
I would love to know how those members of that community are supposedly vulnerable. In the end, it is one voice against many. That voice will, in a big group, be drowned out. And the speaker this statement is aimed against is at the conference for his technological/theoretical knowledge - not to spread his non-technical opinions. Therefore, any likely violation of the community members' personality(?!?) is simply an assumption.

Furthermore, the speaker was previously banned from another conference. I have yet to find accounts that such violations have actually taken place at a conference where he gave a talk. Shouldn't the basic assumption in a system based on the rule of law, that you're innocent until proven guilty be the case here as well?

th0br0··on ES6 is beautiful
Without knowing the type of what you're destructuring though, that's quick to land you in some type of undefined hell.
th0br0··on Need to take something apart and don't know how? This is the website for you
I thought there was ifixit.com for that?
th0br0··on Google launches Public Datasets program

th0br0··on Building My Connected Shower
It's not a matter of water consumption, but of cost due to power consumption.
th0br0··on Nike E.A.R.L. – HyperAdapt 1.0

th0br0··on Airbnb for physical goods, lease your items to others
- The item detail page doesn't show the distance. The actual location is hidden on the map tab.

- Show information on packaging? If I rent an Xbox with 60 games. Do I get that in multiple bags. In a sport bag. In a case ... ?

- I found objects by the same user in vastly different locations (i.e. London + Rio de Janeiro)

- AirBnb only shows a rough location. Never a specific location due to security. It seems that you show the precise user location.

- You expose quite a bit of server information through HTTP headers... X-Powered-By: PHP/5.5.9-1ubuntu4.14

th0br0··on Android's new bottom navigation
Finally. This is so much more intuitive than the slide-in menu in my opinion.
th0br0··on Never buy Epson printers
The same goes for HP OfficeJets (or at least mine ... 8600 Pro)
th0br0··on Dell’s Skylake XPS 13, Precision workstations now come with Ubuntu preinstalled
I've got a new XPS13 edition. There's a few downsides like I absolutely have to run the latest kernel - 4.5.0-rc7 - to not have iGPU issues and not all WMI keys being supported properly (running Fedora rawhide). But other than that, I get about a 7w/s power consumption without optimising anything. That makes for 9-10hrs of usage, even under Linux!

Oh, and repairing them seems to be dead cheap as well. My XPS13 took a little dive, replacing pretty much the whole ultrabook put me back 320 EUR.

th0br0··on Dealing with releases of single page applications
Why not simply edit the HTML5 appcache manifest? (i.e. add a commented-out timestamp)
