Companies do not like risk. That kind of time off has high potential recidivism. If there are 2 candidates then lower risk one wins. Years ago I had HR decline a candidate because of a messy divorce because of perceived risk that I still don't understand.
I was kind of hoping this was updated Modern C++ Design by Andrei Alexandrescu. That was my favorite C++ book and at least I thought it didn't use the STL in Loki at all. It was the better templating design though heavily at the mercy of compilers at the time.
I live in a townhouse. Its land efficient, i have a garage w/ storage its relatively affordable to houses. What i dont like are HOA fees and useless common expenses (the pool) and forced rules (only white curtains). The space 3 units take up is about one house in same neighborhood.
Elden Ring is a marvel but its not same to me. Morrowind is not typical fantasy so the alien world of mushroom houses and silt striders takes it to the next level. Skyrim and Oblivion were less interesting to me as it was standard high fantasy setting.
They are exaggerating but not all wrong. As hiring manager my job is not to train you for your next job. I'm hiring for productivity and that takes time. If you are going to jump ship before you "pay" back the company then I'd rather skip on you. There is no test but I want 2-3 years if you take 9 months or more to get going and I'd be foolish if I didn't want more.
Lots of programmers think they are 10x but few are. Even my best senior engineers took 2-3 months to settle in and contribute more than they take and juniors are bigger gamble.
The best proxy now is will you spend 1 hour on a simple set of tests, if not you are not serious or are shopping for counteroffers.
Caddy has problems with streaming gRPC (not simple request/response). So does Traefik to my understanding but Traefik might work better if reports are to be believed. Nginx has support i think but ive not verified it. I like caddy simple config when it works.
None of the proxies seem to do well with bidirectional gRPC streams as they just treat gRPC as a h2 proxy but I'd love to see that proven wrong.
Recommend book by Herman Pontzer from last year. "Burn: New Research Blows the Lid Off How We Really Burn Calories, Lose Weight, and Stay Healthy" Listened to on podcast 'Why is this happening with Chris Hayes' for 1 hour summary on it.
Maybe. You could also just be screening out loyal people or people who don't like interviewing constantly. I'll let you hire the people that jump ship every two years.
If you are not using roundup, you are still using something. "Organic" pesticides do not work better so you will generally be using more and that goes to the same places roundup does.
I really like the diploma idea. Its mostly reasonable to me but not sure its enough. Lots of people leave before getting degree. After first job the degree doesnt really matter that much.
There is very high demand from 6-10 pm and lesser in morning when solar is not available or very diminished. Also solar still needs cleaning all of those panels. Solar requires rare earths and that is surprisingly toxic manufacturing/refining process. Distribution and transmission is also not as easy as just building everything in Africa and sending it elsewhere. We need a mix of systems in practice.
He will change it to let all the toxic people back on. It will become worse and less pleasant and he will likely lose investors money ultimately but maybe not before he exits. We shall see.
This comes up for me in autocompleting editors. Have to start with "select * from table t;" then go back and then remove * and t.<ctrl-space> to get the hints to populate and then continue with joins which may require going back to select. Update and delete at least start with tables and joins.
This. I've seen a few small ones in residential areas in California and they prevent speeding because you need to slow down as you cannot go straight but still allow flow faster than stopping 5 times.
Notepad++ is a wrapper around scite using native windows apis or at least was years ago. Find a native editor using that library in same way such as SciTE itself.
Are talking about software or teaching? My accountability is quite low compared to teachers and i make significantly more. I do believe those IBM contractors because it wouldnt motivate me. I'm already doing quite well so you have to get to 1/3 my yearly salary to actually change my behavior but Im a professional so i already give it my all. I do think teachers should make more and software devs should make less but it is not the world we live apparently.
Left out are industrial programming languages for PLCs. IEC 61131 languages include function block, ladder, sequential function charts and structured text. The first three are visual. Personally preferred ST as its closest to Pascal and Ada but FB is good for real time debugging PID loops. SFC is good for state machines.
I wish we had more diversity in editing environments for different tasks but all still on one IDE for debugging. Rockwell was my favorite editing environment but expensive and specialized.
US gained a lot of world power after WW2 when other western countries were rebuilding. Do we know for certain it because of capitalism and not that US had lots of virgin resources to exploit in relative isolation while the other powers rebuilt.
Most people dont vote in primaries. That is only time choice is really an option for same party candidates. Since CU basically makes bribery legal its that much harder to remove bad incumbants since they have more campaign funds.
It solves partly managing authorized_keys files. If you have a team separate keys can be difficult to manage. Shared keys are even worse. Certs can help with this if you properly manage the cert signing server (like hashicorp vault). All of that is currently free and open source. Also can now have short expiry times if desired.
Server setup isnt hard. No need for authorized_keys files anymore as you just trust signing server instead. What is hard is user experience. Sshagent doesnt support the certs. Putty (most popular client on windows?) doesnt support certs. I want to use them but need better client support. Vault makes almost easy to create and manage certs but have to use openssh client only with extra argument every time.
Company i worked for 20 years ago had commercial engineering modelling program that did all physical types correctly and did scaling for user but it was fairly unique in scope and like you say almost all programming languages fall short here and it had its own quirks.
