There's also the classic "Tufte" solutions, here's one: https://jamstackthemes.dev/theme/tufte/
Middle-school (and higher) students can't learn exclusively from books any longer. They need interactive engagement with a person (read: celebrity) on the internet. Children are reading less overall, and any parent that tries otherwise has to first push against the "personal portable tech is integral" wall (which was absent only a decade and half ago).
>fear and complacency
Not everyone wants to live in a big city, or away from people they know.
Not even remotely true. And yes, as de-facto "management", most of the blame is on these "institutions".
RMS has nothing good to say about children.
Overpopulation is not an issue. The real issue is logistics. If someone says they won't have children because they "wouldn't want to miss sleeping" or "clean up after a baby", they clearly are using an excuse. For whatever reason, they deem themselves unfit to be parents. Let them be. People on the fence don't stay there very long, and people rarely switch sides. Better one pair of good parents than five negligent pairs.
They're mediocre at best
I don't have an opinion on collaboration, because collaborating without proper organization is like running away from the problem. With proper organization, collaboration is easy.
GPT-3 et al are a different thing though, and I reckon when they're good enough to be frictionless, the majority of people will stop taking notes altogether. The popularity of this field is solely based on how long it takes for people at OpenAI and others (Stability) to drive down costs to deliver ~1M words/mo to the average customer.
These will all go the way of the phonebook. There'll be "look how my model tears your markdown notes" contests.
