tendencydriven··on Show HN: Tmux-IDE, OSS agent-first terminal IDE
I'm yet to try this, but does it overwrite my existing tmux config? I'd love a world where I can have both in parallel as I use tmux a lot and am married to my workflow I've built over the last decade.
tendencydriven··on Asbestosis
Oof, this one hits home.

I lost my Dad when I was 27, he had just turned 60. Also lung cancer, also smoking since a child, also had never visited the doctor.

In the 5 years since then, I've met the love of my life, gotten engaged, and planning a family. All of this without my Dad, without his advice, without his support. It hurts, a lot. Whenever big moments in my life happen, my first instinct is always to give him a call.

Rename the repo, why is it too late to change it?
tendencydriven··on Show HN: I Built an AI-Powered Headshot Generator
I'm out of the loop, who are Bending Spoons and why does it require a warning?
tendencydriven··on Beeper Mini users find Macs banned from iMessage network
The obsession with iMessage and the "blue bubble" seems to be a US only thing, no? All group chats I've ever been part of, and 99% of all other messaging, in the UK and every European country I've been in happens on WhatsApp.
tendencydriven··on Show HN: I Am Become Meme
The phoenix dashboard image only shows on smaller screen resolutions - https://iambecomememe.xyz/static/img/bg/bg-30.png is the image.
tendencydriven··on Show HN: Kuvastin – An E Ink art piece that displays AI art from Google cal
This is fantastic work! Well done, I love how you were able to do it on the cheap - I think this might become my christmas break project.

Seriously, this is fantastic!

tendencydriven··on Ask HN: Are you actively fundraising? How has it been?
Building software in the manufacturing space. It's been hard.
tendencydriven··on Show HN: LookAway – My first native macOS app to combat digital eye strain
I'm not sure if this is possible at all, but perhaps detecting if the user's microphone or webcam is in use could be a good way of detecting meetings.
tendencydriven··on Show HN: Owner Draw Pay Stub
While I also struggle to see the value in a service like this, I think the comment regarding a grandmother and google sheets is a tad unnecessary. Sometimes people build things just because they want to, or it brings some value to them. It doesn’t have to appeal to a wider market, and that’s fine.
tendencydriven··on Show HN: Relume Site Builder – The fastest way to design and build a website
Typing a prompt and pressing Generate take you to a 404 page
tendencydriven··on Show HN: OppenheimerGPT – use Bard and ChatGPT side-by-side (macOS menubar app)
The images are incredibly stretched on mobile browsers.

This looks great though!

tendencydriven··on Nour: Play with Your Food (from Panic)
What's the context behind this? What junk have Panic produced before?
tendencydriven··on Show HN: In the next hour I will
You’re relying on a lot of trust from your users here, if you’re the person that decides if they have kept their pledge or not. Also, not having a list of supported charities and just writing a blog post to prove where the money has gone is also asking a lot.

Instead, I would rather have your other users vote on whether a pledge was actually fulfilled, and have some better method of distributing the money to charities.

tendencydriven··on Show HN: Contact Form Delivery
Yeah there would be absolutely no benefit to doing this other than just to be a nuisance.
tendencydriven··on Show HN: Contact Form Delivery
I don't think you're quite answering the question they've asked.

They want to know if you're doing any domain validation for requests sent to your URL, otherwise someone could quite easily eat up their quota by sending POST requests to the URL in the form.

tendencydriven··on Show HN: Komorebi – A tiling window manager for Windows written in Rust (v0.1.6)
No, you cannot. I believe that the person you are replying to is stating the reasons for why they switched (and stayed with) i3 on Linux.
tendencydriven··on Ask HN: What does one look for in a laptop these days?
I wasn't aware there were any laptops like that, I wonder what the reason for that design choice is?
tendencydriven··on Ask HN: What does one look for in a laptop these days?
What do you mean by nose cam? I initially thought you meant "no noise" but you mention nose twice so I'm curious.
tendencydriven··on Ask HN: What does one look for in a laptop these days?
I often wonder about the experience of using an eGPU. What are the tradeoffs? I travel a bit for work now and I'd like to have a more mobile gaming setup.
tendencydriven··on Ask HN: What does one look for in a laptop these days?
It's US only currently, but they are looking at a global rollout (I'm patiently waiting in the UK).
tendencydriven··on Show HN: Got rejected by Hotjar, decided to build my own
We just moved from Hotjar to Microsoft Clarity but we'll definitely take a look at Squeaky.

Your features page currently has the same description for "Anonymous by default" as it does for "Form masking".

tendencydriven··on Dot Browser – privacy-conscious web browser
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Dot Gecko/Firefox based, not Chromium based?
tendencydriven··on Show HN: LunarVim – An opinionated, extensible, and fast IDE layer for Neovim
NvChad[0] another nvim distribution has instructions for running in docker (very basic though).

Because they wanted to build something.
tendencydriven··on KrebsOnSecurity Hit by Huge New IoT Botnet “Meris”
Reminds me a lot of "Unauthorized Bread"[0] by Cory Doctorow, worth a read (or listen).

tendencydriven··on NFT(s) are just money laundering
> It’s confusing why this angle is not being covered when it’s full-stop the entirety of all reasons behind these transactions

This is a bold claim that I would love to see some evidence of. The vast majority of the transactions are people trying to make a quick buck, not people involved in the trade of drugs or weapons. I don't doubt that this is taking place, but I highly doubt that it is the "entirety of all reasons behind these transactions".

tendencydriven··on Show HN: Web browser to help programmers think clearly
I'm happy to beta test a Linux version if you have anything in the works, this looks fantastic.
tendencydriven··on Show HN: VentScape – Minimalistic site to vent, chat and see others do the same
I think some rate limiting would help but the app is great
tendencydriven··on Fastly Outage
