the basic lucasarts adventure game style is there but the biggest difference apart from its style is also one of grims only problems: its controls, they are made for a gamepad and relational movement of the character as opposed to the classic point&click (with residualVM there is a hack available to make it point&click which works surprisingly well)

it can be a bit clunky to get used to it.

despite that, while TSOMI is one of the best adventuregames of all time, grims story, characters, style and music elevate it beyond just the medium of games. this is a cultural masterpiece of that time

that's the kind of user friendly killerapp that made flash so ubiquitous, because everyone and his mom were able to make animations.

While i love canvas, it's downright impossible for non-programmers to do any of the footwork that is needed to create even the most basic animation.

i will certainly keep an eye on this project, great job

op uses textblocks with extremely fast autoscrolls to convince you of something he believes in.

that doesn't mean there is no place for carousels anywhere.

take the new youtube profile pages for example.

the carousels are used to show unpredictable number of videos in specific lines (recent videos, playlist) without littering the screen with videos, not creating empty spaces where video numbers aren't divisible by 4 or 5 (depending on how many elements are supposed to be shown on one line)

this makes it much easier to scan several playlists on one page.

it's more about the perception than actual levels of freedom, the US is a country that tortures, detains people from all over the world indefinitely without trial in an offshore location, bails out bankers while promoting austerity for everyone else, spies on people worldwide, starts wars all over the world, uses remotely controlled killing machines

and most of that isn't even new, the veil of the american dream has been ripped apart.

what is most depressing is that in the next election cycle, the american people will just run back to the republicans instead of finally giving up on the charade that are political parties

the problem with xonotic and other arena fps is that they lack the killerfeature that would not only lure in a new generation of players, but also shake on the throne of quake3/quakelive, which is arguably the perfect arena fps to date (and yet humps along at under 300k players itself)

what i see is that new players will get crushed for months before they reach their first milestones and become somewhat formidable players in these games.

compare that to the new and popular fps games where you can just jump in, spray some bullets and get some nice looking plates pop up on the screen.

i don't know if there's still room for the unforgiving nature of arena fps aside from hypercompetitive people

i dont see any reason to make a simple 3 container page javascript dependent.

And even if you make a site that requires js to be functional you at least put a fallback in there.

psychonauts is one of the best games of all time, being released in 2005 on xbox it looked amazing, the artdirection is still great on the pc port today and with controller it plays amazing.

while bastion is good it's nowhere near the quality in writing, creativity and gameplay
