tedmundy··on Ask HN: How do you handle iOS app submissions?
Thanks for responding!!

This is what we currently are going for. How do you guys handle bounce-backs from Apple? Are those handled in the next cycle, or picked up urgently: e.g they don't like X feature, take it out or adjust it

tedmundy··on Suggestions on how to develop a tech recruitment platform using Claude?
Not sure where you're based, but data protection laws are probably similar around the world.

CVs usually have quite a lot of sensitive information that people don't want leaking out. If people can upload their phone numbers, locations etc then that is quite a good target for attackers, or even just accidental vibecoded mistakes.

You can make a decent enough start on it, but I wouldn't start using it for real applicants until it has been thoroughly scrutinised by a professional, a pentest would be good and also just getting some experienced programmer to skim the codebase

tedmundy··on How can a junior dev get better when they have to use AI in their job?
> It does not make sense to write code yourself when AI can do i insanely fast

For me, it is about more than just writing the code. It's understanding it, it's understanding what it affects, it's understanding where it lives amongst the other systems that are already in place - and what systems could be in place. AI is not very good at picking this up. It can tell you what it affects, probably, but the rest I have found it to be quite ineffective.

Writing the code was never the hard part

Being honest, companies always want to squeeze you for as much as they can get. You have to roll with it a little bit, take a bit of time for yourself. I'm sure they won't be opposed to you spending an hour or so every day figuring something out.

If they just want you to churn out tokens, then chances are it's a) not a great job (although I suppose you have to take what you can get) and b) probably not very future-proofed?

What do you want your product to do? Is it handling any sensitive data (GDPR, etc)?

I am naturally a bit of a skeptic when it comes to new tools, but platforms exist to "vibecode" a piece of software. From my experience, it gets about 75% of the way there very quickly, but never quite gets it perfect. If you're content with being "alright", then you will be alright.

It might be a good idea to see if there are any whitelabelled/pre-existing tools for you. Unless you're doing anything revolutionary I imagine there will be

tedmundy··on Show HN: Bribes.fyi – Built something to report bribes
time to report FIFA ;)
tedmundy··on Cloudflare Global Network experiencing issues
I think everyone is in the same boat with thinking they took something offline :^)

Concerning though how much the web relies on one (great) service.

tedmundy··on Simplifying programming with AI-tutors
i've done a few on coursera, and they've added an AI to talk with, which seems OK.

can't say much about other sites.

GL with your course :)
