tdkl··on Chrome 56 Beta: “Not Secure” Warning, Web Bluetooth, and CSS Position: Sticky
Google fix = buy a bigger phone, so you'll see same amount of content then 4 years ago.

And in case if someone from Google is listening, give the option to opt out of this AMP crap, I'll gladly pay for extra bandwidth.

tdkl··on Chrome 56 Beta: “Not Secure” Warning, Web Bluetooth, and CSS Position: Sticky
Yeah, can't wait till my CV and project descriptions (not hosted there) static Jekyll site is somehow insecure and dangerous.

[edit] I'll guess I'll have to find a new host then, since Github pages doesn't support https on custom domains. Perhaps Netlify, seems to support Github hooks.

For anyone wondering - this is an example of an ad posing as an article.

I always said that sport watches will become smarter sooner then smart watches sportier.
tdkl··on Google Trusted Contacts
This comment thread is full of proof why infantilized "adults" are demanding safe-spaces everywhere nowadays.
tdkl··on What's wrong with Software nowadays and how we can fix it
> Literacy isn't about forcing people to learn things, it's about ensuring that everyone has the baseline exposure to help them discover if they have an interest in a topic, and then the resources to explore that topic if they choose.

That sounds hilariously naive. If we'd let people decide themselves what they want to learn the majority would still be in the sandbox making castles and playing with toys all day.

tdkl··on Chrome 55 uses 30% less memory than 54
Sadly they aren't bookmarks and then people moan about memory usage, when they should get a reality check instead.
tdkl··on CyanogenMod Inc. Reorganizes, Severs Ties with Project Founder
You could do a bit of research first.

CyanogenMod = Android project started by cyanogen (Steve Kondik)

Cyanogen = company started later by cyanogen (Steve Kondik) and others. The main selling idea was to provide vendors with it.

CyanogenMod project was still operating all this time.

I think you can sideload them since 1607 (or even 1511?), there's a developer switch in new Control panel for that.
tdkl··on More Than 1M Google Accounts Breached by Gooligan
I'm not exactly a fan of those, but I think MS is already doing that with UWP, which apps weren't exactly greeted with rejoice.
tdkl··on More Than 1M Google Accounts Breached by Gooligan
What's "insane" about explicitly having to opt-in to 3rd party application installs in Android ? That switch existed for years and was praised upon. The media opinion only shifted after Android becoming most widely distributed phone OS. It's just easy clicks.

Android is fine.

"Windows is a mess because you can install a virus executable on it."

"You can't install Windows software outside App Store anymore, MS is taking muh freedoms."

You can't win.

tdkl··on Facebook has cut off Prisma’s Live Video access
Rather the opposite : start to campaign that corporations in size and influence as FB and Google aren't a public utility, nevertheless they're marketed as being such.
tdkl··on Reddit Gearing Up to Ban or Quarantine the Alt Right Subreddit
Someone should explain the author the difference between racism and a stereotype (linked meme picture).
tdkl··on War Is a Racket by General Smedley D. Butler (1933)
No, it isn't and that's typical USA thinking pattern - we have to be the best and control everything, then we're "safe" (oh and we'll earn some might good ol' $ too).
tdkl··on War Is a Racket by General Smedley D. Butler (1933)
> order to win a war.

What war ? That's the war Butler is talking about. There's no winning or loosing endgame in that kind of war, because the most positive (for the initiators) is being done with prolonging it.

tdkl··on Show HN: Simple Minimal YouTube Alternative Player (no ads...with powers)
Hm, since usage of playlists is available now through Google Account login and with G+ removed, is this somehow different in their API for 3rd party apps ?
tdkl··on Show HN: Simple Minimal YouTube Alternative Player (no ads...with powers)
I need G+ for this ? Skip.
tdkl··on The Untouchables – Apple’s new OS “activation” for Touch Bar MacBook Pros
Their revenue comes from ads and cloud. They have 0 incentive doing anything for desktop OS.
tdkl··on Windows 10 in-place upgrades are a severe security risk
LTSB was launched being stable in mind, which Edge at the time certainly wasn't. Nothing strange here.
tdkl··on Google’s AMP is a gilded cage
Google just place the opt-out for AMP search results in the search settings - thank you.

tdkl··on Brew commands send data to Google Analytics
> and most of the users would not opt-in

Which means users have chosen what they prefer and silently extracting despite that choice isn't exactly trustful.

tdkl··on Brew commands send data to Google Analytics
>Data is being sent to Google everytime you do almost anything in almost all websites, using the same technology. So what?

This still doesn't mean we should just shut up and take it for desktop software. What anyone does on its OS shouldn't leave the LAN - same critique stands for recent MS endeavour with Windows 10.

Lets hope Zuckerberg doesn't snap then, but I'm sure "dumb fucks"* will find an apology for that too.

tdkl··on Reddit’s CEO edited comments that criticized him
They made sure in the media they are.
tdkl··on Reddit’s CEO edited comments that criticized him
They shouldn't though, if they want to be credible and the site they own/market. Now this is lost.
