tayo42··on Will vibe coding end like the maker movement?
Do people build to impress with an implementation that no one cares about really? Or to share the end product?

I think now you are freed up to make a shooter that people will actually want to play. Or at least attempt it.

We probably need to come to terms with the idea that no one cares about those details. Really, 2 years ago no one would have cared about your hand crafted 3d shooter either I think.

tayo42··on Why Developers Keep Choosing Claude over Every Other AI
Could be both?

I've been leaning more towards claude. A lot of the LLM tropes seem to be ChatGPT really? I feel like claude doesn't do as much of the overly intense "its this -- not that" pattern and isn't constantly acting like my hype man. Claude code has been nice 90% of the time. I haven't tried to many competitors though.

tayo42··on Claude Code Remote Control
These coding tools work better when you think and play first before doing...
tayo42··on Code has always been the easy part
If you switch directions with hand crafted code you have a mess too and a large amount of tedious refactoring work to do.

Which should be perfect work for Ai.

tayo42··on Code has always been the easy part
Do you think someone un fammilar with coding can sit down with one of these agents that write software and end up with a running phone app?
tayo42··on Study shows two child household must earn $400k/year to afford childcare
Idk if your selling it well. Plenty of other careers will pay more and give you health insurance and stability. Probably with alot less work too.
tayo42··on Study shows two child household must earn $400k/year to afford childcare
Day care and pre schools charge like 2k/mo for full time care and 5 days a week.
tayo42··on How I use Claude Code: Separation of planning and execution
We're just slowly reinventing agile for telling Ai agents what to do lol

Just skip to the Ai stand-ups

tayo42··on How far back in time can you understand English?
Who taught you Mexican Spanish in school? Im always hearing about how Spanish speakers not from Spain struggle with Spanish in school. You didn't learn vosostros?
tayo42··on A16z partner says that the theory that we’ll vibe code everything is wrong
Are the infrastructure tools available already not easy enough to build on? We have all these serverless options already.
tayo42··on Claws are now a new layer on top of LLM agents
We know that he knows what he is talking about based on all of the educational content he's produced. What's with the low effort posts and comments?
tayo42··on Claws are now a new layer on top of LLM agents
Docker and k8s didn't deliver?
tayo42··on Trump's global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court
I agree, I think recall votes, term limits, higher pay, fixing election funding would help with that.

We need changes that address the kind of people that are running for these spots and winning then go on to do a bad job. Congress isn't incentived to be effective.

tayo42··on Trump's global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court
Fix some of the ambiguities that allowed power to be concentrated in the executive branch. Automatically start elected officials so things like avoiding swearing in don't happen. Limit the power of these executive orders. Introduce recall votes. Switch to public funding for all elections.

Theres plenty we can do. That's off the top if my head. I'm sure if smart people sat down to think about it there are lots of practical and clever ideas.

The majority didn't ask for this. 49% of voters did.

tayo42··on Overall, the colorectal cancer story is encouraging
How do you make them taste good? I need to put sugar on oatmeal... Lol
tayo42··on AI adoption and Solow's productivity paradox
Ime a team or project lead does that and the rest of the engineers maybe do that on a smaller scale but mostly implement.
tayo42··on Semantic ablation: Why AI writing is generic and boring
People felt this was already happening. I remenber reading filter world which described this pre Ai
tayo42··on Privilege is bad grammar
The emoji use is general is weird. It's like the flair thing from office space, like everyone tries hard to be quirky or something idk.
tayo42··on AI is destroying open source, and it's not even good yet
Llms are already better then most people at coding for typical tasks imo.

I finally got around to Claude code and the code it generates and the debugging it does is pretty good.

Inb4 some random accuses me of being an idiot or shit engineer lol

tayo42··on Why I don't think AGI is imminent
Can llms manipulate spread sheets?
tayo42··on I need AI that scans every PR and issue and de-dupes
For 3k issues it's 3000x3000 checks to find duplicates? Can you cache similarity?
tayo42··on AI is going to kill app subscriptions
Generating code isn't the bottleneck for selling software.

Those apps aren't that bad, it's just internet people complaining about things like react.

Imo "higher quality" isn't a way to sell software

tayo42··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
The original rant is nonsense though if you read it. It's almost like some mental illness rambling.
tayo42··on The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline
With the housing market competitive as it is you don't really get to much of a choice and it's not like there's yelp reviews for neighbors.
tayo42··on The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline
Ivf is way more frequent then it used to be
tayo42··on The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline
>so the residents (and businesses) are super accommodating of families with kids. To the point where if I have to take a little one to the bathroom in a restaurant, people often invite my big one (5 year old) to hang out at their table so I don't have to worry about it.

My experience so far with a kid is most people will just tolerate your child. I'm surprised your running into that attitude.

Other new parents I know that are in the suburbs aren't all surrounded by family's either. I think aging people aren't downsizing their houses and moving around. Careers scattered and cheap homes scattered everyone around.

Maybe NYC is just different. I mean I'm 100% sure it's different. I'm grew up in a NYC suburb lol

tayo42··on The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline
Do you live in the US?
tayo42··on The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline
How many kids do you have?
tayo42··on The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline
Agree with the statement,

Don't agree with the supporting statements though.

Parenting is just really hard, families need two parents working, birthing itself is expensive, even with good insurance, day care is 2k a month and it's not a good idea to skip it. Houses are expensive, raising a kid in a tiny apartment is hard, renting brings instability to your life. There is no serious parental leave for new parents.

tayo42··on Another GitHub outage in the same day
Sort of I think. There's a culture aspect to it too. Everything is blameless, there's no reason to not mess up.
