tailsdog··on Jira Is Turing-Complete

tailsdog··on Claude Managed Agents
Looks great, I can't wait to use it. I imagine it could become very expensive for certain workflows, it will probably be like AWS where if you're not careful with the setup and watching what you're doing it will spin up 1000s of agents and rack up huge bills! It's going to be a massive money spinner!
tailsdog··on How Google Maps allocates survival across London's restaurants
I've had this happen to me, posted a factual restaurant review 12 months later threatened with defamation and it's auto removed by Google. It seems there are agencies that use legal framework to do bulk removal requests to Google for any low reviews no matter the content. The in-authentic Korean restaurant in Cologne went from a 1.9 to a 4.6. It's impossible to trust reviews in Germany due to these corrupt bully tactics.
tailsdog··on Zelensky leaves White House after angry meeting
I think it's actually Thiel who is in control and pulling the strings here. He essentially got Vance into his current position and is obviously still linked to Musk.
tailsdog··on I built an AI company to save my open source project
Nice project!

I am wondering if there is a risk, as it is open source, that a company with bigger marketing spend starts offering timefold in the cloud, kind like AWS with Elasticsearch? Or is there a big enough moat with the models on your cloud platform to prevent this situation?

tailsdog··on TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users
I'm pretty sure Meta apps, at least Facebook, are banned in China still. Apple complies with the Chinese government and removes banned apps otherwise it can not operate there. I think even Tiktok itself is banned in China, there is a special version just for the Chinese market so their consumers can not see global content.
tailsdog··on Jaguar Introduces Type 00
They are blatantly trying to shock people and go against the brand heritage to get publicity, looks like something from the Cybertruck playbook. Sales and reputation have been declining for a while, maybe this is a last chance gamble. It could work out for them.

tailsdog··on Comparing Auth from Supabase, Firebase, Auth.js, Ory, Clerk and Others
Am quite surprised at the auth issues apparent in Supabase considering the funding. I was looking at using this on my next project. Any official comments on the state of auth at Supabase? Anyone here had a good or bad experience with Supabase Auth?
tailsdog··on Concord had a dev culture of toxic positivity that halted any negative feedback
How did Sony drop the ball on this one? If they were the publisher then they should have been on top of the feedback loop.
tailsdog··on OpenRA – Classic strategy games rebuilt for the modern era
This I would like to see!
tailsdog··on We're going to need a lot of solar panels
The point is that in some situations it can be more cost effective to generate additional energy than implement energy saving measures such as insulation improvements. My house was built in the 1600's it's very difficult to insulate properly.
tailsdog··on Ask HN: Should I move to California or Germany as a SWE with 2 small kids?
Those property comparisons are way way off - Passau is in the middle of nowhere - if you wanted a house like that close to Munich it would cost millions and it's even a struggle to find one available.

Housing in decent locations in Bavaria is very expensive and in very short supply compared to San Diego.

tailsdog··on Fly.io: The reclaimer of Heroku's magic
They are backed by Y Combinator so that might be why they get extremely decent exposure on HN.
tailsdog··on How to Walk (12 miles a day)
> However, it would be cool if there was a way to get paid for walking.

Dog walker

tailsdog··on I found a security issue on a competitor, got fired and served a summons
This is a bad analogy - it's more like you request access to an area, there are no locks, you're invited in and told that the content is not restricted.
tailsdog··on Tesla driver dies after his Model 3 stops on highway, gets hit by two other
Phantom braking in the Tesla Model 3 is very real and can be scary, I've experienced it several times. I've noticed that it seems to occur if it sees shadows when going under bridges on the highway.

If you're alert you can override it pretty quickly by hitting acceleration. The problem is when using driving assists you get a false sense of security, you put too much trust in the system, relax, pay less attention - unfortunately this can be fatal.

tailsdog··on Why battery costs have plunged since 2010
> And with many countries moving away from gas in their electricity production, or at least moving it to peak-only, the price will go down.

If there is less consumption I would imagine the price would rather go up.

tailsdog··on UK Rail services to come under unified state control
They also apparently make a rather healthy profit
tailsdog··on Don't make customers hunt for the Sign In button on your website
Irony is there is no "Sign In" button or link on this page. I have to hunt for it by clicking the Logo to get to get back to the homepage.

I know it is a blog but still it's part of the website and as a customer I should be able to access "Sign In" with one click from any page, right?

tailsdog··on Jetbrains founders turn billionaires without VC help
As I understood it Tesla was founded by Americans and later Musk bought in.
tailsdog··on Nuxt.js over Vue.js: when should you use it and why
Out of interest, what are you using instead of Vue?
tailsdog··on Shrinking my static site
Could you elaborate on that statement, why should static site and docker not be seen together?
tailsdog··on Switching from Sketch to Figma
In Figma if you select an element and then hold the `option` key when you hover other elements it will show you the distances between them.

tailsdog··on SEO case study: 8k to 200k monthly organic traffic
Good results.

SEO is not only content there are other factors such as performance, accessibility and structure. Looking at a lighthouse audit on the landing page (https://tallyfy.com/) it looks like there can be a lot of improvement there.
