t_fatus··on The Conjoined Triangles of Senior-Level Development
Make it three-dimensionalby adding a fourth circle with C-level skills and you've got the CTO diagram ! Seriously this is by far the smartest thing I've read associated with "senior developer", and can be of great use when hiring decisions need to be made.
t_fatus··on Mise en abyme
Everything looks better en Français
t_fatus··on Artem vs. Predator
Never Give Up.. This should have take SOOOOO long, with so many disaopointment ! Really nice job
t_fatus··on Do you pay the right rent? Compare all rents, all over Europe
Bit of a burden to get to the actual answer, but brilliant way to get data / display results.

Not very accurate in Paris though, my rent is actually a good deal in my neighbourhood, and it states it's overpriced. But 2km radius in paris could lead to a x3 in price for the same surface ;)

t_fatus··on LinkedIn just imported my whole gmail contact list without asking me
No, that would be really unsecure ...
t_fatus··on Apple March 2016 Keynote – 10am PDT
Your browser doesn’t support live streaming of the event.

Seriously Apple ...

'Apple refuses to stream on your browser' would be a better message

t_fatus··on Go Game Guru – Learn all about the board game Go
"Despite recent advances, computer programs are still a long way off being able to compete with the top human players." They might want to update this ;)
t_fatus··on Apple Launches Official Battery Life Enhancing Case for the iPhone 6s

t_fatus··on New Shepard: Bezos claims success on second spaceship flight
But they have to carry a lot more load which then goes to orbit, making them much more heavier, hard to control and to land. And indeed the separation velocity is Mach 6 - Mach 10 for Falcon 9, so Space-X booster needs to go faster.

OK, so one Uber driver has been molested, and it's probably not the first, but: 1. even if he did not have a dash cam, finding the guy would have been easy: he booked a ride with the app, linked to it's bank account, which is not the case for a regular taxi driver. 2. Even with the partition (it's probably not bulletproofed, neither the windows of the car) any taxi driver knows he can meet intoxicated / violent people, this is also not specific to Uber (it's probably less current with Uber since point 1.) 3. The altercation is 15s in length, what could have done a dispatcher from his booth 15km away?

Honestly this looks like some poor news story including a huge name in it, but nothing quite revealing in it.

t_fatus··on An update to UBlock Origin was rejected by the Chrome Web Store
There are a bit less than 1000 lines changed from 1.2.0 to 1.3.2 (https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/compare/1.2.0...1.3.2) I'm pretty sure google's Chrome dev team could check them by hand in less than a day and be a little more specific on what is their real problem with this submission !
t_fatus··on The most disruptive technology of the last century was home appliances
Whant happens if you try to plot the relative improvement instead of absolute reduction of working hours? Because it's much more difficult to kill the remaining ones than the ones gained by the washing machine!
t_fatus··on Structured Procrastination: Do Less, Deceive Yourself, and Succeed Long-Term
You just gave me an excuse for not doing my work and feel good about it by doing something else instead of just reading random posts on HN !
t_fatus··on 8km2 massive pyramid over Tokyo Bay in Japan
Hey it might beat MarsOne in term of credibility / feasibility! But would love to see both of them anyway.
t_fatus··on CapitaineTrain Cookies Explanation (French)
You even got a cookie recipe at the end!

Don't read French? you should learn! It explains which cookies are set / used on their website with a comparison with a lobby boy

t_fatus··on Vanar.io – Realtime multiplayer browser game: Agar.io meets Asteroids
Nice one, might be useful to add keyboard layout options !
t_fatus··on 2 Uber Managers Detained in France Over Low-Cost Service
That's nice: they will have time to (finally) explain to our government what's the difference between Uber and Uber-X services versus Uber-Pop when offered by unlicenced (for private hires) drivers. And we can hope that at least here they are safer than in the streets of Paris
t_fatus··on As Google cars roll out, Deere reminds us of its 1000s of self-driving tractors
Yeah, but the future of self-driving cars seems brighter than the one of self-driving tractors (on pre-computed routes): you can solve a massive urban problem VS help some rich farmers to save some time
t_fatus··on Multiple UberPop drivers in custody in France
This makes me sad : Taxi drivers in France are running private-hires most of the time (through radio-taxi, ambulances in rural zones, and trips booked for consulting / financial / lawyer firms over the phone...) They had abandonned the "on the streets" taxi business, unless for tourists they could rip off, and since Uber is making money and driving people back to transportation services they want to steal Uber's success. And they try to make it happen the worst way you could think of
t_fatus··on Uber lauches UberFIRST-AID
Question is: what happens when an Uber driver gets beaten in Paris, and another Uber driver comes to rescue him being called by UberFIRST-AID ?

-> The guy driving the ambulance hits him.

t_fatus··on Have you seen how taxi drivers beat up Uber drivers in France?
This is a petition to show your support to the action Uber is currently following in France, trying to overpass decades-old regulations which protect the taxi industry [or mafia] in most large cities. People and drivers have been beaten up, cars destroyed, airports are blocked, they have set up road checkpoints.
t_fatus··on GitFlow considered harmful
I think it greatly depends of the size of your team: if you're alone you have one branch, if you're two you may have 3 branches, each for one of you + master, if you're four you start to use feature-based branches..

It might be fun to compute the number of branches needed as a function of the number of devs in your team.

t_fatus··on Is It Better to Rent or Buy?
I think a good estimator would be the one taking into account the fact you're probably going to sell your place after some years to buy a new one, because you wont be able to have any cash if you don't.
t_fatus··on Use pay phone to contact Australian Secret Intelligence Service recruitment
And avoid the cops who will definitely see them as weirdo crack-adicts calling their dealer from a phone booth
t_fatus··on Show HN: Bananalert
This could be of so much help when MarsOne guys stranded on Mars will need to know if they can eat their bananas! For once there will be some science in their project.
t_fatus··on SourceForge: Third party offers will be presented with Opt-In projects only
Oh thank you SF, that's really nice.
t_fatus··on [dead]
It's funny to see how hype and number of occurences on HN are correlated, what could be even more fun would be to see if this is actually correlated with future user adoption.
t_fatus··on [dead]
React seems to be the new cool kid indeed!
t_fatus··on The Uber for Startup Taglines
