szatkus··on [dead]
The article is so badly written that I thought the presentation will be in June or July, but I looked at the date.

I guess there was nothing about ARM on CES?

szatkus··on Businesses should try to be the best, not the biggest
It's expected that the population will stabilize around 10-15 billions.
szatkus··on The Endless Browser Wars
For sure if you want to use features that are only supported by Chrome. Also devtools are more comfortable and less buggy (seems that almost every React project I met would break Firefox at some point).
szatkus··on Food delivery startup Wolt raises $530M
I know some computer stores that have that. I can check on the website if a product is anywhere nearby, go for a walk and buy it.

Oh, and IKEA.

szatkus··on Food delivery startup Wolt raises $530M
I did my first online grocery order in the middle of pandemic. I needed to wait to 6 days :D
szatkus··on Food delivery startup Wolt raises $530M
Yup, even before pandemic I saw a lot of Wolt boxes in some cities, although they don't serve where I live.
szatkus··on Japanese companies fight for share of EUV chip technology sector
It's size of the wafer.

szatkus··on Need advice or assistance for son who is in prison
What is it about American companies doing background check? I only saw banks requiring it here.
szatkus··on All 104 amendments to the Constitution of India as Git commits
If it's the case shouldn't it be much simpler today?
szatkus··on ‘Seven Sisters’ Myths May Reach Back 100k Years
Doesn't look like. According to Japanese Wikipedia they used to be also called 六連星 ("group of 6 stars", I think?).
szatkus··on The Problem with Gradle
The problem is that many Java projects in the wild are... well, old. Some of them haven't migrated to Java 8 yet and even then you can stuck with a lot of code using the old API.
szatkus··on The Problem with Gradle
It's an old post, they have in Windows 10. Kinda. Many sections in Settings have options for advanced settings that would take you to the old Control Panel.
szatkus··on Moderna is announcing three new vaccine programs
Heh, I do the same for sites that have overrly aggresive GDPR-wall. Headline and comments are usually enough.
szatkus··on The account of realDonaldTrump will be locked for 12 hours
You can turn on dead comments in your preferences and see all the nice things they have to say.
szatkus··on How bad is your Spotify?
Your spotify was pour-over-coffee-too-much-symphonic metal bad.

> Thank your obsessions with Of Monsters and Men and symphonic metal (e.g., Luca Turilli and Van Canto) for that.

> Here's what else I learned in that hellscape:

You listen to these tracks too much:

[too embarrassing]

You stan these artists to an uncomfortable extent:

You are 4% basic. Мёртвые Осы and Zabili Mi Żółwia? Where do you even find this shit?.

You're too trendy for your own good. You only listen to music made in the last year like...

It's amazing that it correctly spotted objectievely shitty songs on my playlist.

szatkus··on ‘YouTube recommendations are toxic,’ says dev who worked on the algorithm (2019)
I have quite similar results in incognito and normal mode. Are you that the trending tab is profiled?
szatkus··on Google outage – resolved
It's red already.
szatkus··on TSMC confirms 3nm tech for 2022, could enable epic 80B transistor GPUs
For quite some time these nanometers is only a name. The only limitation right now is imagination of people working in TSMC and other (also money, I guess).

Here's a video of Jim Keller presenting Intel's share of tricks for a few future generations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIG9ztQw2Gc

szatkus··on How many registers does an x86-64 CPU have?
There are a lot of x86 software out there. Even games switched to x64 binary relatively recently. That alone means that you would want to emulate with performance of, let's say i5-2500, if you want a decent framerate, which would be quite chellanging given that modern CPUs are 80% faster at best.
szatkus··on New variety of apple discovered by Wiltshire runner
Autocorrect? It's HN, so OP probably write about the company more frequently than about the fruit.

Or deliberately clickbaity title :)

szatkus··on Growl in Retirement
Offtopic, but why the black stripe?
szatkus··on Java Verbal Expressions
Both are equally readable to me, but with the builder pattern you have an ability to fork a builder. Cloning objects in Java could be messy.
szatkus··on Java Verbal Expressions
It is. For most parts regexes like "\d+" are ok, but when there is something more complicated I pull Verbal Expessions into a project. To these days reactions on CR were mostly positive or netural at worst. If it was built into the standard library I would probably use it instead of regex, but adding a new dependency and interfacing it with libraries that expect Java regex objects has its cost.
szatkus··on Helsinki Relocation Package: City as a Service
If anything Finnish is much easier than Japanese for Europeans.
szatkus··on Public static final int EM_NATION_TYPE_UYGUR = 1;

I'm wondering what -1 could mean in that context.

szatkus··on World reaction to long queues of voters in US
With over one million polling booths it was about 3 booths per a square kilometer.
szatkus··on Looking at the experience of black Britons through an American lens
Most journalists knows at least their native language and English. So when they need something to write about, it's easy to import some problems from English-speaking nations.
szatkus··on Things I Was Wrong About: Types
In the end when properties are missing I usually use an interface and click "Implement all missing fields and methods" anyway. Modern Java would be good enough for solving this problem.

I could agree that error message with information which properties are missing would be helpful is some circumstances.

szatkus··on Amnesia is now open source
Does Proton have ability to convert x86 code to aarch64?
szatkus··on A Picture of Java in 2020
I was surprised how many things for Java just works in VSCode. Just few more features and I can see people leaving IntelliJ for that.
