symlinkk··on 'Too many employees, but few work': Pichai, Zuckerberg sound the alarm
Creating a VR game that your friends and family can play? Adding an API to React that shapes the course of frontend development for millions of people?
symlinkk··on Wet/Dry Vacuum Buying Guide (2019)
Same, I bought a house recently and wanted to get the walls painted white. Turns out there are hundreds of different whites that are ever so slightly different from one another, various sheens that determine how reflective and glossy the paint is, various levels of durability, various schools of thought on what color goes where (i.e. one theory is glossy plain white on trim and doors, beige ish off white on walls, flat white on ceiling).

I ended up getting everything in a single shade of white, just varying levels of glossy depending on if it’s trim or ceiling. And I am not really that happy with the outcome to be honest.

symlinkk··on Axios Sells for $525M
What are they paying for here? The Axios “brand” is not well known enough to justify that much money. The “tech” is your standard CMS, anyone can build that. The “talent” is just average writers, in fact I can’t name a single one. How is this worth half a billion?

Why do you like this device so much?
symlinkk··on The true costs of inflation in small-town Texas

Why are all the pictures young women?
symlinkk··on Mpv – A free, open source, and cross-platform media player
Has no one made a library that abstracts away the complexity of the ffmpeg api?
symlinkk··on “A Mild Recession”
What do you consider to be a real emergency fund?
symlinkk··on Ultra-flat timepiece, the RM UP-01 Ferrari, is 1.75 millimetres thick watch
You must be new to watches, all luxury watches sell a story along with the watch. Look at the webpage for the Omega Speedmaster. They will beat it over your head that the Speedmaster was worn by astronauts on the moon. Look at the webpage for the Rolex Submariner. They will describe, in great detail, how effective the watch is at deep sea diving, despite the fact that almost no one that buys one will even wear it in the shower.
symlinkk··on I analyzed hospital price lists so you didn't have to
What ineligibility window are you talking about?
symlinkk··on Ask HN: What type of lamp (or light/lumen) do you use in your home office?
Some of these recommendations are insane, over 1000 lumen per bulb must look like a nuclear bomb went off in your office. I have 3x 300 lumen bulbs at 2700k.
symlinkk··on An Ubuntu kernel bug causes container crashes
Wow, another buggy Ubuntu patch breaks something. Why don’t they just stick to what’s upstream?
symlinkk··on How much health insurers pay for almost everything is about to go public
Come on. We can put a price on a house, that has thousands of materials, contractors, and other variables like property taxes and mortgage rates. But we can’t put a price on a medical procedure? Give me a break.
symlinkk··on Germany’s move to legalise cannabis expected to create ‘domino effect’
+1, I need help.
symlinkk··on Logitech MX Products are incompatible with AirPods
I use both together on my MPB every day and have no issues. Where does it say they aren’t compatible?
symlinkk··on Show HN: Movably – Protect your health, move more while you work
I don’t get how this is better than a standing desk. People will make the same positions as they are here naturally when using a standing desk, and it costs $500 instead of $2000, and it doesn’t look silly.
symlinkk··on Unity is laying off hundreds of employees
He’s extremely competent at lying to make the company look good
symlinkk··on Why America can’t build
Can you blame the neighbors for not wanting to live next to a frat house? That’s pretty much the embodiment of partying, booze, loud music
symlinkk··on ‘Blade Runner’ at 40
So what does the ending mean then?
symlinkk··on Twitter Notes
This is terrible, the entire point of Twitter is that each tweet is short and easy to digest. The constraints forced authors to cut out all fluff. They’re diluting the one thing about their platform that made it special.
symlinkk··on Sex is going out of fashion?
Ugly women can get laid as much as they want on dating apps
symlinkk··on Federal Reserve raises rates by 0.75%
Through their actions they’re revealing that all of the excuses thus far were a lie. “Chip shortage”, “wood shortage”, “salmon shortage”, were all fake and overblown, and the real problem was too much money the whole time.
symlinkk··on Coinbase Announces 18% Layoffs
I have never heard of FTX until reading your comment just now. Is it really crushing Coinbase?
symlinkk··on Diet Coke probably isn't a cognitive performance enhancer
It sounds like you’re confusing the effects of eating unhealthy food with the effects of drinking soda
symlinkk··on Americans are poorly served by their grocery stores
Why don’t we just teach that in schools? Instead of learning that the interior angles of triangles add up to 180 degrees maybe we could learn to cook healthy meals for ourselves?
symlinkk··on Food security and the coming storm
Comments like this are incredibly useful. A simple statement, backed up by a link with graph that verifies it. I’m not being sarcastic, I know it kind of reads that way. Comments like this teach me more about the world than 1,000 word rambling news articles.
symlinkk··on The Life of a Backpacker in Asia in the 1970s (2018)
Yeah this is the elephant in the room that no one talks about. And it’s not just about old guys going over there and picking up prostitutes, young guys will go over there and pick up regular girls on Tinder, just because it’s way easier to get laid there than in the West, for a bunch of controversial reasons that we aren’t allowed to talk about.

symlinkk··on How This Ends
The “chip shortage” was fake. The actual issue was inflation since the start.
symlinkk··on Lavender's Game: Silexan for Anxiety
None of this shit works. If it did it would be called medicine.
