symlinkk··on Shopify will be smaller by about 20% and Flexport will buy Shopify Logistics
My job pays for the roof over my head and the food on my table. How am I supposed to be happy without that?

So only people who have slick enough social skills to bullshit their way through that will get hired. The quiet unassuming engineer who spend their free time programming will get passed on and the extroverted engineer who spent their free time partying will get hired.
symlinkk··on Wearing an eye mask during sleep improves episodic learning and alertness
Shutters are expensive in the US, like thousands a window. They’re basically a luxury item. Curtains and blinds are middle class.

symlinkk··on Savings and Loan Crisis 1980–1989
The prices are not similar to 2022. I’ve seen prices drop by 15% already.
symlinkk··on First clean water, now clean air
Are you talking about a fan that simply blows outside air in? Wouldn’t that basically fight what the HVAC is doing? AFAIK the only real solution is an ERV / HRV, and they are extremely expensive (like $10k in my area)
symlinkk··on Use of antibiotics in farming ‘endangering human immune system’
Organic food doesn’t use antibiotics right? Seems like another reason to go organic if you can spare the $
symlinkk··on US to start training Ukrainian troops on Abrams tanks within weeks
> Should we (by we, I mean the rest of the world) just let them annex whatever land they want, with no consequences or resistance?

Yeah why is it our problem?

symlinkk··on Most of my skills are now worth nothing, but 10% are worth 1000x
The vast majority of paid writers are just summarizing other people’s thoughts. Like people writing marketing blog posts are just writing what the CEO tells them to, etc.
symlinkk··on Mass layoffs and absentee bosses create a morale crisis at Meta
I honestly don’t understand why VR hasn’t caught on. Every time I let someone try my Quest for the first time their minds are blown. It’s very cool technology and seems like the next logical step for video games.
symlinkk··on Reddit Moderators Brace for a ChatGPT Spam Apocalypse
Wouldn’t Captcha prevent this, just as it always has?
symlinkk··on Xanax and Adderall Access Is Being Blocked by Secret Drug Limits
What’s the big deal? The definition of ADHD is extremely fuzzy anyway. Why not just let whoever take them that wants them?
symlinkk··on AI could replace equivalent of 300M jobs – report
The economic system isn’t the problem. Human nature is the problem. And it’s immutable.
symlinkk··on Senate Bill to Ban TikTok
How about I choose for myself what I want to read? Why do you think you know better than me?
symlinkk··on AI could replace equivalent of 300M jobs – report
You’re relying on the hope that the people with money and power would be willing to share that with everyone else. They wouldn’t. Our entire economic system is based on the principle that people are inherently selfish.
symlinkk··on UK: Food inflation rises to 18.2% as it hits highest rate in over 45 years
I don’t think it’s “extreme privilege” to not notice a price increase of maybe $3? I could see it if you’re living in extreme poverty but anyone middle class and above shouldn’t waste mental energy on things like that
symlinkk··on UK: Food inflation rises to 18.2% as it hits highest rate in over 45 years
I find comments like this weird, I never think about purchases that small. I honestly have no idea how much I pay for tortillas normally but $7 would not even be a blip on my mental radar
symlinkk··on GitHub Copilot X – Sign up for technical preview
Everything I have worked for is worthless. The programming knowledge I sacrificed my prime years to learn is obsolete. Everything I earned I used to buy a house which is declining in value day by day. I wonder if I would be happier and more successful if I didn’t take the responsible path in life.
symlinkk··on GitHub Copilot X – Sign up for technical preview
Lol the cope here is unbelievable. Let me guess, the people that are “just overhead” and “reduces time for main work” are everyone else, not you, right?

So what if the money is stored in assets? I don’t think anyone believes arguments like “your basic intuition is wrong, studies have been done, I can’t explain it to you but trust the experts” anymore since COVID.
