syaz1··on Python-Dev: Adding braces to __future__
I think that was sarcasm because OP posted it in -patch instead of -ideas list.
syaz1··on Python-Dev: Adding braces to __future__
I'm curious what is your definition of troll.
syaz1··on [dead]
You are correct.

This is Ask Me Anything request. Normally done but not always successful.

What you can see is only potential questions to be asked if the request is answered by Mr. Khan.

syaz1··on John Resig: JavaScript as a First Language
Almost everything comes with installer these days, yet some refused to install better, secure browsers since they already have IE by default.

Barrier of entry is a problem.

syaz1··on Ask HN: Does this kind of arrogance get job applications?
Not sure why I was downvoted. I meant to say I found GP's post to be profound:

The ad is a window into the soul of their company, unfortunate perhaps, but hardly arrogant.
syaz1··on Ask HN: Does this kind of arrogance get job applications?
I find this very profound.
syaz1··on Skyrim sells 3.5 million copies in 48hrs
Oblivion was kinda okay to me. Morrowind didn't hook me up. Fall Out NV was okay too. But this game, got me looking forward to clock out and get home.

It is productivity-killer. Heed what he said.

syaz1··on DAE think CoffeeScript is ridiculously overrated?
It is very popular acronym in Reddit. Similar like AMA "ask me anything".
syaz1··on I want to code, not configure mail servers
How true. Very recently I tried to setup SMTP for intranet and gave up 2 days after. There is just no simple enough guides. Most of them make assumptions of my knowledge, when I had 0 of DNS/SMTP servers.
syaz1··on WhatsApp users now send over 1 billion messages each day
Someone on HN mentioned before that some of the folks behind WA were ex-Yahoo! coders. So I suspect scaling is nothing new to them.
syaz1··on Famous Logos Designed Entirely in CSS
Steve Jobs looks like Gandhi.
syaz1··on Tell PG: Thanks for the change to the "title" on each page
I knew something changed, but I can't figure out what. This made me realized. Nice indeed for tab hoarders like me.
syaz1··on If I had more time I would have written less code
And of course it's left there for ages to come, never to see the light of day, ever again.
syaz1··on Piwik, open source analytics, a great alternative to Google Analytics
How long ago did you use it? They've redesigned the UI which is far better than the old one. Although it is true they're not as good as GA yet, it's only because the team is small. The codebase is a pleasure to work with should you need to customize anything, which you cannot do in GA.

In short, Piwik wins in terms of control hands down. If you don't need live analytics, don't want to store the data, want somebody else to blame if anything goes wrong, then go for GA. Not that I hate GA, I use both; normally GA to be my go-to backup if anything went wrong with my analytics server.

syaz1··on Piwik, open source analytics, a great alternative to Google Analytics
What do you mean no IP information? You get to store everything. Then there's filter plugin to mask IPs if your law requires you to do so.
syaz1··on Search for your name in pi
That's profound.
syaz1··on Why do Windows functions all begin with a pointless MOV EDI, EDI instruction?
I thought I'm the only one doing this. Raymond Chen is worth subscribing to just for his knowledge alone, regardless of what platform you program for.
syaz1··on Arch Linux – "It is what you make it"
The great thing is there are other package managers built on top to be more friendly such as yaourt. So if you think pacman is too primitive then you have options.
syaz1··on Show HN: Color Picker Pro, Open Source Color Picker for Mac Os X
Naming Product X Pro is the de facto for a version that requires payment...
syaz1··on How to “see” your automated cron jobs
Great all-around reasoning and counter arguments. Now this is HN.
syaz1··on Vim Cheat Sheet - For Programmers By Programmers
Why the need to stress For Programmers by Programmers? Isn't it obvious?

The sheet itself is really messy. I'd appreciate if anyone know a sheet that separates typical-editing and advanced-usage.

syaz1··on Increased performance ten-fold by switching to a superior language
Well done sir, nicely put.

"Use the right tool for the right job" is also highly contextual. For the same job the right tool for you may be Python, for me PHP.

syaz1··on Realistic Skin Rendering in WebGL
I actually think it's better to use imperfect skin for the purpose of showing off rendering engines. I really like how you can see some spots, scars, small details on the skin rather than a smooth silky pretty girl skin.
syaz1··on Arch Linux moves up to Linux 3.0
So true man. Big updates always screw my system over... everytime I change certain hardware there are bound to be problems that require lurking around wiki/forums.

Nontheless I've been using it for many years, I've yet to find a better and feel-at-home replacements.

syaz1··on [dead]
About the title, it's a trend by the media to claim something absurd and justify it with a question mark to avoid accountability. I do think it makes your title more silly.

"ASK HN: What do you think of this unsubscribe page?" is a lot more welcoming, I think.

syaz1··on [dead]
I'm gonna keep it short since there's already a lot of replies to posts such as yours on other submissions.

Down-vote it if you don't like it. Flag it if it's silly.

syaz1··on Hey, Bethesda Let’s settle this
I am baffled by this behavior. Everytime, and I mean everytime, I see IceFrog given credit to DotA, there will always be that guy who tries to discredit him in one form or another. You gotta give that guy credit for putting things together. He may be a shrewd person in real life from what I've heard, but at least he did a fine job at what he does.

A fine analogy, I think, is Linux kernel. Would you not give Linus credit for being in charge (accepting/rejecting patches etc) eventhough he admitted more than once that he doesn't do much nowadays; everything is mostly from the community.

syaz1··on Was .NET All a Mistake?
True enough. I have not unsubscribe yet but I've stopped reading it for over a month now. Poor signal:noise ratio and people seems to fight over getting 5 Funny.

Now I read HN and Reddit's daily top.

syaz1··on Decaptcher
Assuming you need 5 seconds to solve a captcha, solving 1000 non-stop will require 1 hour 23 minutes. (Assuming no mistakes are made, everything else being constant)

$6 = 4 hours nonstop, no mistake. Depressing job.

syaz1··on Secure Apache and PHP, hide version numbers
