swader999··on Canada to order military plane fleet from Sweden in shift from US suppliers
We already have a clause in our constitution to allow for orderly withdrawal from Canada. We'd have to resolve the first Nations angle which would probably be more of a hurdle.
swader999··on Outsourcing plus local AI will soon become more economical vs. frontier labs
I'm finding sound judgment, common sense, technical depth and breadth, a feel for the UX are skills that amplify Agentic coding. Deep knowledge of the problem domain and time with the customer (or SME's or end users) are what build these. Outsourcing this will never work, you can't put someone 12 hours ahead of the timezone your serving in front of the customer.
swader999··on Rubish: A Unix shell written in pure Ruby
It is a clever title. It would be funny to have an April fool sounding hook but backed by a legit project.
swader999··on Rubish: A Unix shell written in pure Ruby
Good April 1 article.
swader999··on Alberta to hold referendum on whether to remain in Canada
They are already separate first nations not joined to Canada or Alberta. I don't understand why Alberta not wanting to participate in Federalism anymore is an issue.
swader999··on AI is just unauthorised plagiarism at a bigger scale
On one hand, there's nothing new under the sun. On the other, these llms are just copies of us and they owe the collective some due. The trajectory right now has money, power, control, policy and even free will going to a very small needle point of humanity. It's not aligned with humanity flourishing, it only makes sense if the goal is to replace the humans.
swader999··on OpenAI Is Preparing to File for an IPO Soon
Everyone forgets that Amazon, Google, eBay had tens of competitors at the time. We only remember the winners.
swader999··on Anthropic is expanding to Colossus2. Will use GB200
Or upgrade their Tesla to that bio hazard filtration level
swader999··on Google officially announces that ads will be included in AI Mode search results
Are they included in the training too? Gee I hope so!
swader999··on Anthropic Is Preparing for IPO and We Should Be Worried
It will be just fine to see other tools like opencode and pi and other models flourish as subscription benefits get increasingly nerfed.
swader999··on Eric Schmidt speech about AI booed during graduation
It's it fear or anger?
swader999··on Where Are the Vibecoded Photoshops?
I think your last half remains to be determined.
swader999··on Amazon workers under pressure to up their AI usage are making up tasks
People need to start yelling, throwing things and publicly mocking execs that do this. What is wrong with you all? I do this (except the throwing) and I get nothing but respect. If you've been a good little soldier for years, done nothing but deliver and then you raise your ire people will listen.

If you can't change your company, change your company!

swader999··on Removing the modem and GPS from my 2024 rav4 hybrid
If you get into enough trouble they'll get all your phone data and cell tower pings or your passenger's.
swader999··on Sam Altman's Business Dealings Under GOP Scrutiny Ahead of OpenAI's IPO
With worldcoin lol.
swader999··on Claude Account Suspended Seconds After Purchase?
Kudos for going public with it. Likely the only way to get it resolved.
swader999··on Making the news available at no cost is a victory
Yes and that affects all existing 'news' channels too. It comes down to general education levels and that has similar bad incentives in play.
swader999··on Making the news available at no cost is a victory
Maybe that is part of the plan, eliminate truth so that everyone just gives up.

Perhaps crowd sourced facts/news with legit upvoting, weighted upvoting based on historic 'credibility'. Top contributions get a share of add revenue.

swader999··on 50K Tahoe residents need power as utility eyes redirecting lines to data centers
Biosacks will be pushed to the margins as more GDP share is created by tokens and corporations are able to lobby for votes.
swader999··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% of its workforce
Yeah they seem to just amplify who ever was behind it.
swader999··on UK businesses brace for jet fuel rationing
It would have launched nukes already and then made the survivors take the mark of the beast.
swader999··on Appearing Productive in the Workplace
It's called a wrist watch with a moving second hand. Just put your current mouse on top of that.
swader999··on Higher usage limits for Claude and a compute deal with SpaceX
What's going to be the hit on our atmosphere when the data centers re enter? I guess it won't matter as the AI will replace the humans by then for the GDP and tax base.
swader999··on Agents can now create Cloudflare accounts, buy domains, and deploy
Who goes to websites these days?
swader999··on Zuckerberg 'Personally Authorized and Encouraged' Meta's Copyright Infringement
Yeah well then I want my robot running this crap locally in its brain so I can get it to farm my two acres and haul water for me and I'll unplug from the rest of this nonsense going forward lol.
swader999··on Zuckerberg 'Personally Authorized and Encouraged' Meta's Copyright Infringement
These models can provide citations so I don't see why they can't tick a royalty owed. I'm sure many here could help build this pipeline.
swader999··on Zuckerberg 'Personally Authorized and Encouraged' Meta's Copyright Infringement
If I perform a song in public then yes, I should pay the creator every time I play it. I fail to see the difference here.
swader999··on Zuckerberg 'Personally Authorized and Encouraged' Meta's Copyright Infringement
I take issue with the use of tense used in this framing. Its not 'infringed' its 'infringing' and to say that it happened is wrong, its happening and happening continuously in these models that are in use. To say a one time payment settles it is missing the whole scope of this theft.

Royalties are owed and continuously owed as these models are deployed and doing inference. How is it any different to paying a small pittance to someone every time a song is played?

swader999··on Lessons for Agentic Coding: What should we do when code is cheap?
Agree, and with CC my volume and quality of PR review has substantially increased since 4.5. Without CC for review we would have a ridiculous bottleneck in our dev/qa pipeline.
swader999··on Lessons for Agentic Coding: What should we do when code is cheap?
I review more thoroughly and faster with Claude than without.
