suyash··on Another AI company wrote us and here’s our response
I think the problem is because AI is mostly created by engineers who have no clue about 'art', all they know is how to automate and optimise for the sole purpose of efficiency which has been the cause of AI eating creative fields including programming ironically as there an art to coding as well.
suyash··on Record 4 Camera Angles at Once Using Only iPhones and iPads
Anyone know similar setup and app for Android device?
suyash··on Male dance moves that catch a woman's eye (2010)
Any link to read the article for free ?
suyash··on Show HN: I created an After Effects alternative
You start by building your knowledge around computer graphics and modern web development, basically WebGL and modern web APIs have made doing sophisticated graphic applications on the browser. Only limitation right now I see is single threaded limitation on the browser.
suyash··on How Alexa dropped the ball on being the top conversational system
Siri dropped the ball even before Alexa, it had the golden opportunity to become ChatGPT about 10 years ago.
suyash··on AI in software engineering at Google: Progress and the path ahead
So how long till AI will be fully replacing a SWE at Google? That is where the drive for productivity at organizations like Google are leading towards.
suyash··on pg_timeseries: Open-source time-series extension for PostgreSQL
Interesting, how does it compare to proper (open source) time series database like InfluxDB other than being 'Postgres' like ?
suyash··on Popover API
I quite like these two examples:

1. Pop up menu like those on Windows/Ubuntu : https://mdn.github.io/dom-examples/popover-api/nested-popove...

2. Android style toast notifications: https://mdn.github.io/dom-examples/popover-api/toast-popover...

suyash··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
That can be said for most of all tech companies who are just trying to sell you shiny app that will supposedly fix all your problems.
suyash··on Airline keeps mistaking 101-year-old woman for 1-year-old baby

suyash··on Biden signs TikTok bill into law, starting clock for ByteDance to divest
Tell that to China, it's worst over there, no reason given just a great firewall ban shows up for your app/service. They have banned so many popular services there for decades, it's time for other countries to do tit for tat.
suyash··on Humane AI – Pico Laser Projection – AI Twist on an Old Scam (2023)
hand is just a surface bro, I don't think it has anything to do with hand, light will bounce back on any opaque surface, just think of it as a mini projector and it's not even full RGB spectrum colour.
suyash··on Collection of notebooks showcasing some fun and effective ways of using Claude
Is there any open source multimodal LLM one can play with for free?
suyash··on Humane AI – Pico Laser Projection – AI Twist on an Old Scam (2023)
Yes, that is bit much but the main point being this projection technology is nowhere novel, I have been playing with pico projectors and modern ones comes with Android OS so it's just a mini projector. However the only thing innovative here is natural voice interaction powered by modern AI but that also seems to be very slow for any practical purpose.
suyash··on We cut costs by 70% by moving from GCP and CockroachDB to Hetzner and PostgreSQL
Kubernetes - is that thing still around?
suyash··on Can you really explain the difference? Subtle nuances of English words
Moral: these are very personal rules and beliefs that we rarely break/change.

Ethics: these are societal rules and beliefs that we sometimes disregard depending on context (society/group etc)

suyash··on Can you really explain the difference? Subtle nuances of English words
+1 to what @mholt said haha
suyash··on Show HN: Sonauto – A more controllable AI music creator
It's quite the opposite for professional audience, most people don't want to give away their Google credentials to a 3rd party website that can get hacked tomorrow.
suyash··on Show HN: Sonauto – A more controllable AI music creator
I bet that's only becuase you know it's created by AI. If no one told you that and you hear someone sing that song and play along bet you will feel. AI is only getting better, it will be just as good as any human and only way we will be able to tell is when it's disclosed if it's AI-generated or not.
suyash··on Show HN: Sonauto – A more controllable AI music creator
That is just 'marketing speak' so as long you are their customers, they need to make money from users who will be using their service to make music.
suyash··on After AI beat them, professional Go players got better and more creative
It's just a little boost, AI will keep getting better and better at faster pace, humans will have to figure out a different strategy all together.
suyash··on After AI beat them, professional Go players got better and more creative
That's the next one on the chopping block, wait till Sora and related services comes out, it's all going to be digitally generated and will look just as real so yes it will be content about humans but without human doing/creating much of it.
