superskierpat··on TypeScript Won
On the topic of typescript vs purescript and similar projects, I believe these projects are more for people who want to stay in the same mindset across the whole stack. So haskell with ghjs or purescript and scala with scalajs... I dont think they are really in competition with typescript.
superskierpat··on H.P. Lovecraft – Against the World, Against Life (2004) [pdf]
That or a video game. Could easily be a mix of adventure / puzzle with some action thrown in (Places like the forest, the moon, the underdream and kadath)
superskierpat··on An Open Letter to CloudFare, a company who has broken the entire Internet
It can really be annoying.. They break so many simple static websites that I can only use my phone for a limited ammount of websites (I use orfox with orbot and noscript, as I'm a little paranoid phone-wise)
superskierpat··on H.P. Lovecraft – Against the World, Against Life (2004) [pdf]
Dream Quest felt really different from the rest, but I really liked it as well. I was reading a collection of all his short stories at the time and it's pretty cool to see little stories that tie in to this storie's dreamverse from time to time.
superskierpat··on Books Recommended by Time 100 Most Influential People
Interesting, though unfortunately they seem to be mostly adverts from the author's eg: Ronda Rousey, Donald Trump.. or adverts for friend's of the author eg Julia Louis-Dreyfus..

Bernie Sanders suggesting you read a book on the constitution made me chuckle, he really does seem different from the usa norm.

superskierpat··on Dtags: directory tags for lazy programmers v3
I like this, a little bit like what a relational filesystem would feel like.
superskierpat··on Ask HN: Can you show me how fast coding is in vim?
Though vim (and neovim) has the same plugins these days. I've been using paredit and it works great.
superskierpat··on CopperheadOS: A hardened open-source operating system based on Android
This makes the project alot more interesting to me.
superskierpat··on Vim 8.0 is coming
Well except for the code cleanup and the more extensive scripting options ;)

I've been a happy neovim user for a few months now, but I'm still glad to see that vim is keeping itself up to date.

superskierpat··on Why Lisp is now an acceptable scripting language
I recently rewrote many of my shell scripts in guile, a really fun experience. And tail call recursion makes it pretty easy to reason about the code, no more looking up bash cheat sheets every time I write a script
superskierpat··on Jenkins 2.0 Beta
Thats mostly why I use hakyll, it's just a library that gives functions to build your own generator, so you can write out your own rules in haskell (Pretty simply for the most part) And then compile it to get your static website generator.
superskierpat··on The Search for the Perfect To-do List
Hmm not sure if it tallies all the dependencie times, but taskwarrior has dependency management
superskierpat··on The Search for the Perfect To-do List
Suprised nobody has mentionned taskwarrior[1] yet! Its very flexible and can even be kept on a server. For example I've got it set up so giving it a link automatically puts in the pages title as a description and puts it in my reading list.

superskierpat··on How the New York Times Sandbagged Bernie Sanders
Makes it look like there is still a big difference between the north and the south.
superskierpat··on How the New York Times Sandbagged Bernie Sanders
Sorry I'm from quebec, I'll be more careful.
superskierpat··on How the New York Times Sandbagged Bernie Sanders
Can someone explain to me why the media constantly uses the word landslide to describe hillaries victories? I mean, looking at the results, I see that, superdelegates aside, most of the primaries seem to show a 5 to 10% difference between sanders and clinton.

I call that a rather close victory. (Even if 1% can mean thousands of people)

superskierpat··on Hannibal: An AI/bot for 0 A.D
From my experience, modding implies a lot of experimentation, you're often playing with unknown rules as there are very often big gaps in the documentation and you only have other mods (Which very often make their own errors) as examples. An api to an open source game must be much easier to understand.
superskierpat··on HaxeDevelop: A Haxe IDE on Windows
Hmm havent done any python since I've installed it, have you tried using it in conjuncture with jedi-vim?
superskierpat··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (March 2016)

superskierpat··on HaxeDevelop: A Haxe IDE on Windows
Well either run the swf file in the git repo or compile it yourself (Youll need the openfl library)

Fair warning, it's pretty rubish, being my first experience building a game and having used no actual game focused frameworks like haxelflixel.

superskierpat··on HaxeDevelop: A Haxe IDE on Windows
Cool! I've mostly switched to neovim these days (Even wrote a blog post about it: http://patrickmarchand.com/posts/neovim-tuto.html)

Thanks for the good work.

superskierpat··on HaxeDevelop: A Haxe IDE on Windows
I remember convincing my teacher to let me use haxe instead of flash for a multimedia course. It went pretty well (Got an A) and it allowed me to use vim (with the vaxe plugin)

Heres the game: https://github.com/Superpat/haxefighting-game

superskierpat··on On the growing, intentional uselessness of Google search results
Duckduckgo has a safe filter that blocks porn and a few other things from showing up in the search results that works pretty well, you can decide to take it off at any time too. They have the same kind of filter for looking for country specific results.

superskierpat··on The Joy and Agony of Haskell in Production
For those looking at the where to start (http://www.haskellforall.com/2015/08/state-of-haskell-ecosys...) link in the post, here is the more up to date github repository (https://github.com/Gabriel439/post-rfc/blob/master/sotu.md).
superskierpat··on A Better Vim – How to Configure Neovim
My first blog post after a request on lobsters. Commentaries, suggestions and insults welcome.
superskierpat··on FlingOS: An educational operating system
I like these kinds of projects, but have thus far been unlucky with mono projects on linux.. I might try it out anyways.
superskierpat··on Hi, I’m from the games industry. Governments, please stop us
There is a difference between most games and "whale hunting" games, generally a game will be an interactive experience with a slightly addictive edge to it, but these games are generally between 15$ and 80$ and are a one time buy.

Whale hunters are often free to play games that have an ingame shop where you can buy either cosmetic or game boosts. Examples: Mobas are on the small scale here, they profit from whales but could do without them while facebook games, mmo's or phone games are generally a little more shameless about it.

But nowadays, the line is thinning due to expensive games starting to offer more and more minor downloadable content, which isnt priced high, but can quickly accumulate.

superskierpat··on Faber boss says future of book publishing is mobile
I get the advantages of an ebook, but they are intrinsic to the medium, I'm guessing the cost to produce a book higher than the one to produce an ebook. (Especially if they use pandoc or something similar)
superskierpat··on Faber boss says future of book publishing is mobile
Maybe books resiliency has more to do with the aberrant prices for ebooks? They are rarely cheaper than physical books and I often find them to be even more expensive!

Either way, I hope that phones do not become the preferred way to read books, I really like my e-reader, if only the technology seemed a little more modern (Its hardly changed in 5+ years) I think they would have no problem becoming more popular.
