superfunny··on 1999 Repeal of Glass-Steagall was the worst deregulation enacted in US history
Why is this posted here? If this were a well-reasoned, thoughtful and thorough discussion of the Glass-Steagall Act, that might be interesting. Too bad this isn't. The original poster's understanding of economic and financial history is extremely poor, almost juvenile. For example, s/he does not mention the Federal Reserve at all and the role it played both during the Great Depression up and the run-up in asset prices we've seen over the last 25 years.
superfunny··on Increasing Politicization and Homogeneity in Scientific Funding
How is this bullshit?
superfunny··on I’m a public school teacher – the kids aren’t alright
But Twitter has this annoying tendency to cancel the accounts of people who say things they don't agree with, irrespective of whether those things are true.
superfunny··on I’m a public school teacher – the kids aren’t alright
Don't socialize in school. Don't play sports. Go to the prom wearing a mask. Yeah, this is not difficult.
superfunny··on 20 year study of global wealth demolishes the myth of ‘trickle-down’
Are the workers slaves? Are they forced to work for the offering company, or do they choose to do so?
superfunny··on CFTC Orders JPMorgan to Pay Record $920M for Spoofing and Manipulation (2020)
This took place over a year ago - why is it being posted now?
superfunny··on The Impact of Vitamin D Level on Covid-19: Systematic Review Meta-Analysis
From what I understand, individuals with naturally darker skin tend to be at greater risk from vitamin D deficiency. This is because naturally darker skin reduces the absorption of UV rays. I wonder to what extent vitamin D deficiency could be a contributing factor to the disparate impact that Covid-19 has had on different ethnic communities (at least in the United States). Is anyone aware of any studies done in this regard?
superfunny··on The ER charged him $6,589.77 for 6 stitches, cost that led his wife to avoid ER
"The state-provided health care is free"

Today I learned that doctors and nurses in Russia work for nothing. No? So where does the money to pay them come from?

superfunny··on U.S. house prices are rising exponentially faster than income
In America, the size of the median home has increased from under 1,500 square feet in 1973 to over 2,400 square feet today, an increase of 60%. Perhaps that has some impact on the increase in home prices?
superfunny··on U.S. house prices are rising exponentially faster than income
For point (4), people who live out of state still have to pay property taxes on the property they own in another state.
superfunny··on $1M bounty for details on Tether’s backing
I think the better trade would be to do a hedged short against bitcoin, perhaps using futures; if Tether collapses, Bitcoin is going to get hurt as well.
superfunny··on $1M bounty for details on Tether’s backing
Or that the person from whom you borrowed Tether to put on your short position won't demand it back while it is collapsing.
superfunny··on Grand jury indicts Trevor Milton, Nikola founder, on three counts of fraud
It sounds a lot like Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos - some investors want to find the next Steve Jobs so badly that they get blinded by the sophistry.
superfunny··on Grand jury indicts Trevor Milton, Nikola founder, on three counts of fraud
I doubt that he had to put up $100 million to be released - probably more like $1m to $2m. When Tom Barack was released on a $250m bond earlier this month, it was secured by $5m in cash.
superfunny··on Coober Pedy, the Australian mining town where residents live underground (2020)
Scenes from the 1980s movie "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" were filmed at Coober Pedy
superfunny··on DisneyMustPay Alan Dean Foster
Why doesn't ADF sell the royalty rights at a discount to a third party who then will fund the lawsuit against Disney with the aim of recovering the full amount? It's like accounts receivable factoring.
superfunny··on Disclosure: Unlimited Chase Ultimate Rewards Points
This story will hurt the bank's ability to hire talented programmers and developers in the future.
