superchink··on Is this Batman equation for real? - Mathematics - Stack Exchange
Explanation: submissions on the move. I found something I thought was worth sharing and posted it.

Typically I've had good luck with not being able to post duplicates (i.e., it'll just upvote the existing post). I assure you that I in no way intended to pollute the new stream and that whenever possible I read everything on the front page.

Please accept my humble apology.

superchink··on Sublime Text 2 Build 2091
Wow, this is nice! Even the dark theme is an improvement over the default.
superchink··on An amazing crossword puzzle
I kinda liked that the explanation was hidden behind another link, but it led to a literal violation of the guidelines, and for that I apologize.

I'll strive to do better, but hopefully I can be forgiven.

I think the OP's link is actually to the PDF. HN adds the automatic Scribd link whenever someone posts a link to a PDF.
superchink··on The Google+ Project - Content Policy
I'm surprised at how straightforward this policy is. It's written in layman's terms, rather than legalese.

E.g., “Your Profile Picture cannot include mature or offensive content. For example, do not use a photo that is a close-up of a person’s buttocks or cleavage.”

superchink··on Why Not Tumblr
http://cl.ly/3s1g0z2S3Y2n3e1L0q3U

Someone else might find this screenshot quite ironic. A response article, "Why Tumblr" and Tumblr failing to display it.

superchink··on [dead]
They've released their pricing and are now open to the public.
superchink··on Voice search enabled on Google homepage (Chrome)
I managed to dig up this blog post (http://mikepultz.com/2011/03/accessing-google-speech-api-chr...) that seems to explain how to use it for your own purposes.
superchink··on Pi explained
Random speculation: Maybe pi was chosen because the symbol for tau (τ) is hard to distinguish from a ‘T’ when hand-written?

BTW, I don't mean to take anything away from your comment; that link was awesome.

superchink··on Square’s Disruptive New iPad Payments Service Will Replace Cash Registers
I believe those types of comments are referring to Square drastically lowering the barrier of entry for accepting credit card payments.

superchink··on New iPhone app identifies trees from photos of their leaves

superchink··on Linode - IPv6 Status and FAQ
Not sure if this was cleared up previously, but it looks like they are giving free additional IPv6 addresses.
superchink··on Django support for Sublime Text 2
Anyone try this yet? I haven't used ST (are people calling it that?) enough yet to consider switching from vim, but I'm always looking to try new things…
superchink··on What the hell happened to Apple guys?
Wait… Apple was collecting the location data? I thought it was just being synced to your computer. Anyone know either way? A reference would help, as well.
superchink··on The Cloud is not a Silver Bullet
Also relevant: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4179027/99-99-durability-...
superchink··on The Cloud is not a Silver Bullet
Their explanation is here: http://aws.amazon.com/s3/#protecting

Looks like they're differentiating between durability ("99.999999999%") and availability ("99.99%").

So it's not uptime that has 11 9s…my mistake. Should have checked the documentation.

superchink··on Thoughts About Sparrow UI
I apologize for missing the point. You're right; that is annoying and no, they should not do that by default.

Side-note: I just re-read my comment and I sounded like a jerk. I would also like to apologize for that. The sarcasm didn't age well (to my ear anyway).

superchink··on The Cloud is not a Silver Bullet
99.999999999% uptime?
superchink··on Thoughts About Sparrow UI
It's a new pricing model. I think they're calling it "shareware." The idea is that they release "free" versions of software that are almost fully functional but have small nags or annoyances to encourage you to purchase if you enjoy using them…
superchink··on Thoughts About Sparrow UI
I also do this. Not everyone agrees with this method though. They like to actually login to separate accounts and have separate silos of email. Trust me, I've tried changing minds…
superchink··on Google kicks GrooveShark out of the Android Market
And you can also get it on an iPhone (jailbroken) via Cydia. It's a great app…
superchink··on Goodbye Apple, hello Amazon for music?

superchink··on Stupid is better than smart
In case not everyone is aware, this is a campaign for Diesel. I first saw this as a storefront display in Santa Monica saying "BE STUPID" in big bold letters, which led me to a quick search and to: http://www.diesel.com/be-stupid/

Clever campaign. I don't know of many clothing companies that have marketing slogans that get discussed on HN.

superchink··on ITerm 2
The date is actually January 09, 2011 rather than January, 2009. It's not very clear, but if you click through it shows the full date.
superchink··on Son, as soon as someone puts their hands on you...
I guess I made my comment as someone who doesn't currently carry a firearm. I suppose the situation changes when you're capable of disabling the attacker outright by shooting him.

I was speaking mainly to a situation where you'd be inciting some sort of a fight or a struggle with someone crazy enough to attempt a mugging. In this case, I still stand by my feeling that you're better off complying.

If you're able, by all means, protect yourself. You'll find no objections from me there.
