sul4bh··on Ask HN: Meta/FB layoffs a year later – where are you now?
Not op but, do you have any suggestion on how to go independent? How do I get my first business? What kind of companies can I reach out to?
sul4bh··on Ask HN: What $500-2500 product improved your 2022
lol my bad. I should read more carefully. I thought I saw $50.
sul4bh··on Ask HN: What $500-2500 product improved your 2022
Water bottle with time markers on it. It gamifies my water drinking habit. I am always eager to beat-the-bottle by trying to catch up to the time markers on the bottle. As a result I am not dehydrated and not perpetually hungry anymore.

Any suggestions for a good brand?
sul4bh··on How Popular Is “Sign in with Apple”?
I would rather have a delightful user experience than multi platform support. Worst service to ever come out of Apple is Apple Music because it is multi platform. Their desktop app is just a shell around their BETA web version. Sluggish UI, memory usage goes up to 4GB easily...They didn't even try...all in the name of making it easier to support multiple platforms.
sul4bh··on T-Mobile ISP
Wish I had read this comment before trying out the tool.
sul4bh··on ORMs Are Backwards
What do you use for "Auto-generated OpenAPI Typescript functions" ?
sul4bh··on User Inyerface – A worst-practice UI experiment
Brilliant! Captures every frustration I have ever had with stupid-ass, half-baked web forms. Is there a form in there that messes up with your autofill? That could be a nice addition. I couldn't make it past the 1st form. I could feel my heartbeat go up as I was trying to figure my way around it. I had to close it so that I could remain calm for the rest of the day.
sul4bh··on Another Tesla on autopilot steers towards a barrier

Previous autopilot versions didn't do this. 10.4 and 12 do this 90% of the time. I didn't post it until I got .12 and it did it a few times in case it was a bug in 10.4.
It looks like software updates will soon won't just break your workflow. They might break your spine or your head or take away your life entirely.
sul4bh··on Apple Music now has 38M paid members
I tried to switch to Spotify but came back to Apple Music after 1 day of using it.

I really liked the Spotify UI and their album list makes sense. But it does not offer any significantly different feature than made me chose it over Siri integration with Apple Music. Siri is frustrating at times but I can’t imagine not using it when I am in my car.

sul4bh··on Ask HN: Do you have a side project you want to sell?
http://psatool.com

Physical security assessment tool based on NIST and ISO standards.

Needs more work. I have some ideas if you want to discuss.

sul4bh··on Foreign Students Seen Cheating More Than Domestic Ones
Homework/project outsourcing is also rampant.
sul4bh··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (June 2016)
I sent you an email few months back. I have not heard back from you yet.
sul4bh··on Ask HN: What was your best passive income in 2015?
I conform this is bug.
sul4bh··on I am Peter Roberts, an immigration lawyer who does work for YC and startups. AMA
How does H1B and remote work? Say, can I work in Nashville remotely from home for a company in San Francisco and have a valid case for getting H1B?
sul4bh··on Sentry 8 is here
I now have 8.0 running. Thank you.
sul4bh··on Sentry 8 is here
I am running a Sentry 7 instance. How does the upgrade path to 8 look like? Will I lose any data?
sul4bh··on I met you in the rain on the last day of 1972
I read the story. Very similar to the OP. You mind sending few more links of your favourite Murakami stories?
sul4bh··on I met you in the rain on the last day of 1972
Please suggest me a Murakami book that resembles this story.
sul4bh··on Temporary Visas, Meant to Import Talent, Help Ship Jobs Abroad
I like your point. The government should provide a new visa category for students who get an advanced STEM degree from US college. Its absurd that students who got their advanced STEM degree from a college in US has to complete in the same visa category as the people applying from consulting companies.
sul4bh··on Django 1.9 alpha 1 released
I write functions to interact with the REST api in PHP and use them in theme code.

Lets say you have a page for location based doctor search. When the search form in this page is submitted, wordpress makes API calls to django backend where real search happens and a list of doctors is returned to wordpress. Wordpress then genereates html and send it to the browser.

Similar process for dislaying a specific doctor details.

The CRUD and other application logic for doctor data is handled in Django. And with rest API you can then create a web based UI or a mobile application.

sul4bh··on Django 1.9 alpha 1 released
Django is still my default goto for starting projects. I create backend data entry as an old style CRUD app. And I do the front end on wordpress and use REST API to fetch data from Django.
sul4bh··on Django 1.9 alpha 1 released
The DateTime field lookup changes are the most exciting. No more start_date and end_date calculations in the code.
sul4bh··on How Imgix Built a Stack to Serve 100k Images per Second
From the article: "Levee is capable of servicing 40K requests per second on a single machine."

How are concurrent connections simulated for testing?

sul4bh··on Hackers Remotely Attack a Jeep on the Highway
Real world scenario was used to gain more publicity and to get mainstream media sources attention. People get attracted to catchy titles and can relate the incident to themselves because it happened on a highway. Nobody bats an eye if the test was done on a parking lot.
sul4bh··on Introduction to Microservices
Thanks for your answers. I see that data warehousing is an important aspect of microservice architecture. I wish it was highlighted more often on microservice discussions.
sul4bh··on Introduction to Microservices
The article mentions using a different database for each service. Which means, you cannot join table between different databases and you lose the 'relational' aspect of RDBMS. How is this problem solved by people using micro-services? For example, how do you related trip data and driver data for reporting purpose?

sul4bh··on Paw: The ultimate REST client for Mac
The most useful feature for me is 'dynamic variables'. I can use data value from a HTTP response as a variable in the request body for another HTTP request. It makes testing API endpoints that depend on each other a breeze.

I also like the 'environment variable' feature. I can easy test the API locally and on staging server just by changing setting different environments.

This makes me think if they will repeat this all over again in Nepal.
