It's designed as a modern take on 20th century newspapers.
It took several over a dozen iterations spanning two months for me to settle on this one.
I realized much later that the recruiters don't really care about the portfolio, as much they do about the keywords in resume.
Personally I'm pro vaccination, but I do feel that media covers one sided opinions only.
We should hear the story why people don't want to get vaccinated than just label them in the wrong.
I respect your right to have an opinion, although it may be different from mine.
Good post, but even better design thinking and execution. Thanks for sharing, and good luck on next steps!
I agree with the idea. Miss a regular non intrusive web experience too much. The only place I usually find it is here on HN.
Each hour of interview costs a company ~$100, in the time of the interview alone, not to mention scheduling overhead, frustration and recruiter's time spent. 5 rounds for 5 candidates == $2,500 (1 week's salary on average at big tech beginner roles).
For each candidate, that's 5 * (whatever they are getting paid, let's say $50) == $250.
If companies think of it this way, they might as well get some candidates for short amount of time to see a fit, instead of countless rounds spanning months.
Ideally, they should also compensate interviewees for their time, which I doubt will ever happen.
If all private data is equal as a human right, then the cases should be filed by every country, but I doubt that's happening.
Perhaps this is because EU is in power and representative of the largest collective paying user group?
Also what happens to the fine? Does EU keep it, or actually give it out to the users who were affected?
I wonder if most of the people are working from bed not just being lazy, tired or exhausted, but also because they have no other option.
I wonder if the news outlets doing paid promotions using her name will ever respond with an apology, or a follow up post.
"It depends on the person".
Each individual has so much going on today, that you could create a billion environments and people would still not be satisfied with the weather.
The question is whether people want to be CEO, and is that what their life's calling is.
Just in case it did, it would radically deprecate a bunch of tools and simplify life of small dev teams.
Why use any other Issue tracker if Github can do this itself? Countless integrations would be replaced by this. I wonder what would happen to all those dashboard / issue tracker / project tracking apps now.
We have an API for developers to use and integrate while ordering which is free with extremely fast response.
Adoption is the key factor, if we have lot of users, it would be only a few days work for Amazon and others to integrate.
I'll share the doc I prepared and sent to Google in my consult, in one of the next posts.
Ouch, that hurt.
Thanks for sharing!
I have no idea what they did internally, but something like this was my guess. I only communicated through customer support channel and replied to emails, and shared my doc (which cited all the loopholes) with them.
It took them 10-15 days to get back and make a one-time good will contribution. The contribution didn't cover logging cost, so we did pay few hundred dollars.
Your assumption is incorrect. I haven't been in touch with anyone in Google, and used 0 internal connections. Happy to make another post with my conversation + documentation to support this.
I reached out to the GCP through their regular channels. This is not a paid post, and we are not sponsored by Google in anyway.
Maybe it comes across like that, but as somebody building a product with very limited resources, Google's documentation is one of the best so far.
The situation was our fault too. I just went with a test and fail fast attitude, just like with every things we do a dev environment.
Bankruptcy fear was real at the time. Google has at least a few thousand lawyers on payroll. They probably also have a process of handling delinquencies and sending them notices. A quick look at the lawyer fee to just manage the case, let alone fight it, is enough for bootstrapped company to raise hands.
+1 to bad actors possibility. I shared this with Google team, I'm not sure what they have done since.
We are out of that situation and I wrote the post so others, relatively new to Cloud don't make same mistakes.
Fail fast is a very bad idea with Cloud.
