subarctic··on Adult Film Producer Unmasks Prolific 'John DOE' Torrent Pirate as Meta Executive
> arguing that a Reality Labs executive downloaded nearly 20,000 files at his home for work purposes, not for personal use

So is it a Reality Labs executive or a Meta executive? Is the headline lying?

subarctic··on Discontinuation of third level domain registrations for the .name TLD [pdf]
Wait, if it was only firstname.lastname.name, how was he able to register firstnamelastname.name? Does it let you register 2nd level domains if you get there before someone else registers a 3rd level domain that uses the 2nd level domain that you want to register?
subarctic··on Breaking Claude Code Opus 5 Auto Mode
Thanks. I know about that sandbox but I'm asking about if I were to use another harness like pi instead
subarctic··on Discontinuation of third level domain registrations for the .name TLD [pdf]
Can someone explain what this is, to someone who has never heard of the .name tld before?

subarctic··on Evidence of Fraud in an Influential Study About Procrastination
There's a bit of irony that probably 50% of us are procrastinating while reading this
subarctic··on Reverse engineering my ADHD test
Why is it so life changing to get help? What kind of help is there besides meds?
subarctic··on Breaking Claude Code Opus 5 Auto Mode
For someone that's used to the convenience of leaving claude code running unattended in auto mode, how would you recommend I change my setup so that agents are sandboxed? Looking for something that's safer than unsandboxed auto mode but just as convenient, or at least very close to as convenient.
subarctic··on Apple caught off guard by AI demand for Mac Mini and Mac Studio
You have the m4 pro right? I thought the m5 pro mac mini was only just announced
subarctic··on GLM-5.3 is now open-weight
I was going to try out pi and I set it up with some of the recent big open weights models, but then I realized that if I just use pi the way I use claude code, it doesn't have an auto mode so it's basically just --dangerously-skip-permissions and you're supposed to sandbox everything yourself. What's your sandboxing setup like?
subarctic··on “It works better in the app”
I used to feel similarly but recently i started defaulting to installing apps more, and it's been way better for my quality of life lol. They just tend to work way better. There are some exceptions though, usually for apps that have ads that make them too annoying to use or that require you to have an account that I don't want to create / don't want to sign in with. E.g. youtube, reddit
subarctic··on The Twelve-Factor App (2025)
How is this only from 2025? I thought this was a thing back in 2015
subarctic··on Trade (and Tariffs)
I'd love it if chicken breast in Canada was cheaper. I think maybe there need to be some controls or regulation so meat coming from the US isn't lower quality than what we currently have but if the price went down i wouldn't complain
subarctic··on New Mac mini, featuring M6 and M5 Pro
That selling point is probably more about using a claude code subscription than running your own models. Because of apple's lockin there are certain things you can only do on apple devices and a mac mini is useful for that
subarctic··on Rural Village in Spain Is Welcoming Digital Nomads with Open Arms

subarctic··on The August 17 outage

subarctic··on Apple announces changes for apps in the European Union
Apple and google essentially own 99%+ of the smartphone market, so it's not that different from a monopoly
subarctic··on Tiny satellite will use the dark side of the Moon as a shield
Dark side of the moon = the side opposite the sun, doesn't change here
subarctic··on AI usage patterns in software teams
Can't tell if you mean the people the article is talking about or the article itself
subarctic··on Pixel Watch 5
I canceled my pebble preorder when I found out it can only record audio for a couple minutes at a time. A big use case for me is to record voice notes without going into the distraction center that is my phone, but often they can be 20+ minutes
subarctic··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
I mean, of course it was a matter of being at the right place and right time, and being able to execute. He definitely was lucky but that alone isn't enough
subarctic··on Adults over 65 will outnumber children by 2029
What even is retirement age and what practical impact would changing it have on society? People can retire or keep working at whatever age they want as long as they can afford to

subarctic··on What happens if you put work into the second dimension?
Is it odd that i was disappointed this wasn't about physics?
subarctic··on Zed DeltaDB
Thankfully it's been working well for me when i use it, which tbh hasn't been that much lately since I'm getting an agent to write code for me more and more.

One thing they need to add is a way to double click on file names in agent output to navigate to it. It works in the bottom terminal but not the agent terminal panes or built in agents

subarctic··on Zed DeltaDB
Whoever on the zed team came up with this must be coding with agents way more than i am, because it hasn't come up for me as something I'd really need yet. But it sounds cool anyway. I guess it's kind of like undo history but persistent and with more visibility, and with branching? Anyone from zed here to comment?
subarctic··on Apps for Kobo
