Suppose web ads were banned tomorrow. How would sites adapt?

Many sites will shut down. A few sites would probably go Wikipedia style and ask for donations, run by the generosity of a few.

But I think the vast majority of remaining sites will become paid walled gardens, kind of like what we have with TV these days. I don't think this is a better web.

It is viable. Just not in a way that you accept.

This isn't how any of my workplaces have worked. When someone leaves, they or their boss sends an email announcing the role changes. Which companies practice the role@ method?

It's like how no one cares about which chip is in their smart TV, regardless of price range. They just want to watch Netflix without UI bugs.

They do this because they get penalized by email service companies for sending emails that people don't open, so they have to guess.

The optimal strategy would probably have been radio silence, and then the blog disappearing without an explanation after a few weeks.

As your pseudonym's popularity grows, chances increase that someone will be interested in unmasking your identity. The only solutions are to reduce your pseudonym's visibility or staying fully anonymous in the first place.

Privacy isn't binary. It's a spectrum. A light and sometimes remembering to close the camera cover is better than a light and no cover.

The light only tells them after their camera turns on, so it doesn't address their concern.

You can have both the light and cover.
