Did $100 average per transaction + 500 transactions annual (made up numbers) and I got the following fees PER TRANSACTION:
$125 | $1375 | $1600 | $1850
That's clearly not right...
That said, they can at least recommend you something if nothing else. Those guys are required to wear suits all day too.
2. Given the situation with everything described above, I STRONGLY recommend you move on and find a different name regardless of any emotional attachment you may have with this one if you want to avoid issues later on. It's simply not worth it.
3. Asking to do a lawyer fight on this now doesn't make any sense. Unless you got a ton of money to burn for the sake of burning it, let go of this.
You may not like hearing what I have to say but honestly, its not worth it. Keep building, compete, etc... Just rebrand.
Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. Merely my own personal thoughts as an entrepreneur.
As long as you can get the .com, it easy to spell, relatively short enough, and people can pronounce it, and it isn't trademarked or going to infringe on any such issue, you're more than halfway towards an okay name.
2. If its on Github (on a public repo), why are you upset? Apart from them using your analytics code, that seems to be a given that you're letting the code be available to others for use.
3. I agree with adding a license if you haven't already as someone else suggested.
4. At the end of the day, clones happen (even if the code was taken from you). It sucks but best thing to do is to keep moving forward.
Just playing devils advocate here.
2. I disagree that it presents no new compelling idea. What is not new to you and me maybe new to someone else. Helpful or not is very much in the eye of the reader and what they end up doing with that information and how they interpret and manage it. There are merits to the post whether or not you agree with them or whether you think there are any to begin with.
3. While I totally agree that at the end of the day, the decision to do something resides with the decision maker, I also acknowledge that what the author points out as "me too" syndrome do exist to an extent and in many ways that can in fact be harmful as well.
4. I do agree its never good to be condescending but I don't believe that was the intention here. You asked where would we on our own startup journey if our friends were not so supportive. While I do agree as a whole, I also believe that a great friend doesn't always blindly support their friend. Sometimes being a friend simply means having the courage to point out where your concerns are and why you are concerned. In the end, the support is to allow your friend to take that information and go about making the choices he or she needs to make. While the author didn't dive into this (what he did or didn't discuss with his friend beyond what was posted), I have a hard time believing they made this post with a condescending tone over trying to help others (the readers) see what may be obvious to you and me but may not be to many.
2. Have you looked on PadMapper? There doesn't seem to be may listings in the Morgan Hill area but there are some.
2. Between the two, currently Dropbox has more value for me both in terms of overall storage space and in terms of users I have shared folders with.
3. Free on both. I haven't had a need to upgrade to the paid version yet due to limited need to use the service. Possibly later if I ever end up needing more space.
