OpenCode?
stadeschuldt··on Claude 4
Interestingly, both Claude-3.7-Sonnet and Claude-3.5-Sonnet rank better than Claude-Sonnet-4.
stadeschuldt··on Balcony solar is taking off
In Berlin, you could get it for free through the SolarPLUS[1] subsidy program. My setup (2 panels, inverter and mounts) cost less than 500€ and was fully subsidized.

stadeschuldt··on GitHub Copilot is now available for free
I've been using https://www.codegpt.ee with the Jetbrains IDEs (mainly PyCharm) and I'm pretty happy with it. You can also bring your own API key.
stadeschuldt··on Ask HN: GitHub Copilot Alternatives
I've had a great experience using the IntelliJ plugin called CodeGPT (https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/21056-codegpt). What I really like about it is that it allows you to bring your own API key for various providers like Anthropic and OpenAI.

Additionally, CodeGPT supports local LLMs, which can be useful if you're concerned about data privacy or want to work offline.

stadeschuldt··on Generation Z is unprecedentedly rich
Wouldn't the parents fall into the Gen X?

Firefox thinks that the site is a potential threat:

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to postbrainer.com. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

stadeschuldt··on Ask HN: What GPT4 frontend do you use?
I am currently using https://github.com/Bin-Huang/chatbox. It ticks some of the boxes you've mentioned.
stadeschuldt··on Loess Regression
Very nice. I’ve used Loess regression ten years ago when charting my body weight with R. Here is the blog post about it:

stadeschuldt··on How to stop a robot vacuum from getting stuck on the laundry rack
For me the solution were simple clothespins.
stadeschuldt··on One Year with R
Great stuff. Could you maybe share a bit of these "3 dozen" scripts? This could be super helpful.
stadeschuldt··on Using PostgreSQL as a Data Warehouse
In the above mentioned scenario there is no need for backups as the database (or more precisely the schema) is recreated at each run.
stadeschuldt··on Using PostgreSQL as a Data Warehouse
The tooling behind the approach has been built as a set of python package named Mara. It is available at GitHub:

https://github.com/mara/mara-pipelines

And additional packages can be found at the Mara org:

stadeschuldt··on Show HN: I made a site that aggregates entry-level positions
The Apple Software Engineering Manager - Information Security position requires 10+ years industry experience. The bar for entry level positions seems quite high.
stadeschuldt··on Show HN: Excel-like table editing for Markdown
I have recently bought an app for macOS that helped me handling tables in markdown: https://tableflipapp.com/

It does one thing and it does it well.

stadeschuldt··on Ask HN: How do people verify time put in by contractors?
I like the analogy. But I guess the "concept" of a pizza is easier to grasp. Usually, you hire a contractor because you want a highly complex solution and most of the times the expectation, especially from a non-tech savvy person, is not in sync of what the developer estimates.
stadeschuldt··on Ask HN: Best way to create a landing page?
To all the people using a static site generator. How do collect emails from interested people? Is there a way to easily integrate this into the static site? Ideally it would be a simple form, that collects the data and stores it somewhere? Google Forms comes to mind but it would integrate that nicely into the UI.
stadeschuldt··on Ask HN: Who uses SQLite database in production?
My little project http://solarpi.tafkas.net/ runs on SQLite for over five years now. Never had any issues.
stadeschuldt··on Former student destroys 59 university computers using USB Killer device
I don't buy the pen testing part. I might as well sell a hammer and call it a pen testing device. Funny enough they have the following on their website:

"A hammer used maliciously can permanently damage to a third party's device. The USB Killer, used maliciously, can permanently damage a third party's device."

Contrary to this device a hammer can be used a useful tool too.

stadeschuldt··on Former student destroys 59 university computers using USB Killer device
I am looking at https://usbkill.com/. What is the purpose of the device? The manufacturer calls it an "ESD tester" yet there is an "anonymous" version available: https://usbkill.com/products/usb-killer-v3?variant=447760856...
