srameshc··on Show HN: DuckDB for Kafka Stream Processing
This looks brilliant, thank you. I love DuckDB and use it for lot of local data processing jobs. We have a data stream, not to the size where we need to push to BigQuery or elsewhere. I was thinking of trying something like sql-flow but I am glad now it makes the job very easy.
srameshc··on Thoughts on Go vs. Rust vs. Zig
I started using Rust out of a need , it's tough and I thought I can learn any language easily. But I think from my short experience , Rust teaches how to be a good and thoughtful programmer. My reason to continue learning Rust.
srameshc··on Netflix to Acquire Warner Bros
I never imagined that a service that ships DVD via mail would one day buy Warner Brothers. It is amazing how innovation and focus can change the game. Someday a new startup will piggy bank on Netflix and probably buy it later.
srameshc··on Ghostty is now non-profit
I never realize Ghostty is a project by Mitchell Hashimoto. I am very happy with tmux and never seriously looked at it , now I really curious what is it about and how it is different than say tmux ?
srameshc··on Mapping the US healthcare system’s financial flows
I think the author seems to be using sarcasm when he said innovation.
srameshc··on Mapping the US healthcare system’s financial flows
One of the best explanations I have ever read about American Healthcare. Even after such good infographic it is still hard to comprehend such complexity.

> The $441B in prescription drugs - the story of incentivizing American innovation over price controls.

This itself speaks for how messedup the entire design is.

srameshc··on DeepSeek-v3.2: Pushing the frontier of open large language models [pdf]
As much I agree with your sentiment, but I doubt the intention is singular.
srameshc··on Leak confirms OpenAI is preparing ads on ChatGPT for public roll out
This is the new search and OpenAI is at the forefront, probably they want to become the biggest ad network.
srameshc··on Refrag: Rethinking RAG Based Decoding
This LLM-generated abstract contains instances of pleonasm. While I am unsure if there is a required minimum word count for abstracts, the current version could be improved. Specifically, the abstract could more clearly described that it is an "efficient decoding framework that compresses, senses, and expands to improve latency in RAG applications."
srameshc··on Show HN: Stun LLMs with thousands of invisible Unicode characters
It's funny, as I currently fixed a bug caused by a trademark Unicode character after spending entire weekend. These characters can break LLM driven extraction processes.
srameshc··on Agent design is still hard
I still feel there is no sure shot way to build an abstraction yet. Probably that is why Loveable decided to build on Gemini AI rather than giving options of choosing model. On the other hand I like Pydantic AI framework and got myself a decent working solution where my preference is to stick with cheaper models by default and only use expensive only in cases where failure rate is too high.
srameshc··on Private Equity's New Venture: Youth Sports
Anywhere there is money, making an everyday man some money, these pests creep in. I generally dislike what has become of recreational sports and how the parents are either forced to spend for things that really don't matter, when learning to play. But learning Private Equity is eyeing this give me creeps. There must be some guy who observed how families are spending and decided it would be the next destination for PE.
srameshc··on Nano Banana Pro
My experience with Nano Banana is to constantly get consistent image when dealing with muliple objects in a image, I mean creating consistent sequence etc.

We spent a lot of money trying but eventully gave up. If it is easier in Pro, then probably it stands a chance.

srameshc··on Gemini 3
I think I am in this AI fatigue phase. I am past all hype with models, tools and agents and back to problem and solution approach, sometimes code gen with AI , sometimes think and ask for a piece of code. But not offloading to AI and buying all the bs, waiting it to do magic with my codebase.
srameshc··on Peter Thiel sells off all Nvidia stock, stirring bubble fears
Could it all be triggered by the study : Gartner Says Agentic AI Supply Exceeds Demand, Market Correction Looms ?

srameshc··on Heretic: Automatic censorship removal for language models
So does that mean if Heretic is used for models like Deepseek and Qwen it can talk about subjects 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, Uyghur forced labor claims, or the political status of Taiwan. I am trying to understand the broader goals around such tools.
srameshc··on Go's Sweet 16
Go is my favorite programming language. I remember when I first found Go and it was because I was using Java back then and learnign Akka framework for concurrent programming . I realized Go was so much less code compared to Java and I could understand it effortlessly. Since then I have been using it very regularly but still I don't feel I am good at this language. But it helps me get the work done. Cheers to the 16th anniversary of Go.
srameshc··on New study finds users are marrying and having virtual children with AI chatbots
AI if unregulated could be a lot more worse than social media. My kid after his first chat with AI said, he is my new friend. I was alarmed and explain him but what about the parents and guardians who are unaware how the kids are befriending the AI. Part of the problem is also how it is trained to be nice and encouraging. I am sure there are researchers who are talking about it but the question is are the policy makers listening to them ?
srameshc··on Adk-go: code-first Go toolkit for building, evaluating, and deploying AI agents
Why not Go ? AI agents are not just scripts, they are the same as any other application that needs to scale. Java or Go, if application can perform better then it is always good to have an option.
srameshc··on The Parallel Search API
I like Parallel and been using it for tests but I am not sure about the terms.

srameshc··on Oldest woman to finish Ironman World Championship in Kona
I wokeup to read this and I am inspired. I am a late starter, could barely run for 5 minutes, but now I can do 5 miles. I was thinking to myself few days back, "how can people run a marathon and 100K run". After learning about this lady, I think if I try , I can as well.
srameshc··on Carice TC2 – A non-digital electric car
This is how it should be if the user prefers not to be connected.
srameshc··on TruthWave – A platform for corporate whistleblowers
Trying to understand who you are but not a single name listed in there ? https://www.truthwave.com/about-us https://www.truthwave.com/our-team

Mission is good, but how do you protect those people who disclose information to you ?

srameshc··on Uv is the best thing to happen to the Python ecosystem in a decade
I am still learning and I have the same feeling as someone who don't consider myself good with python. At least I can keep my venv in control now is all I can feel with Uv approach.
srameshc··on EuroLLM: LLM made in Europe built to support all 24 official EU languages
I was thinking the same, why are so many superior models coming from only countries like US and China. And why are European countries not in the list other than France with Mistral. Why are so few companies in India, Japan, South Korea even close to a promising new model like what Chinese companies did ?
srameshc··on Designing EventQL, an Event Query Language
> From the beginning, we wrote EventSourcingDB's storage engine ourselves. It's not built on top of an existing database; it's a purpose-built event store.

I am trying to understand EventSourcingDB but I don't get the concept.

https://www.thenativeweb.io/products/eventsourcingdb

Is this a new approach or designed something like Temporal ?

srameshc··on The Rapper 50 Cent, Adjusted for Inflation
the images at the top is the best part, we get a little over 2 50 Cents. Makes it so much easier to understand inflation
srameshc··on Show HN: Inkeep (YC W23) – Agent Builder to create agents in code or visually
Inkeep SDK – Elastic License 2.0 with Supplemental Terms https://github.com/inkeep/agents?tab=License-1-ov-file#readm...
srameshc··on Just talk to it – A way of agentic engineering
Everytime I read something like this, I question myself, what I am doing wrong ? And I tried all kinds of AI tools. But I am not even close to claiming that AI writes 50% of my code. My work which sometimes include feature enhancements and maintenance is where I get even less. I have to be extremely careful and make sure nothing unwanted or addition that I am unaware of has been added. Maybe it's me and I am not good yet to get to 100% AI code generation.
