> The problem: thinking models think too much

I see that with Opus 5, it started thinking like crazy in the last few days , I don't think my workflow is that complicated, still it gets into thinking mode and stays there

srameshc··on Laya the open source version of Jev
from https://huggingface.co/convaiinnovations/laya > The policy reports a distribution; exploration adds zero-mean Gaussian noise to the logits; the reward is a strictly proper scoring rule (log + spherical, plus ranked probability score for ordinal questions). Expected reward is maximised only by reporting honest probabilities.
srameshc··on Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously
That is the what our corporations are aiming for !!! I think that is more important question is what is the cost to run all those Agents ?
srameshc··on Haiku R1/beta6 has been released
Has anyone tried installing Haiku on old mac 2012 intel and older ? How challenging would that be ?
srameshc··on AWS Acquires DuckDB
I am happy for the team's success but I am sad and anxious for what may become of the DuckDB. It is my favorite tool. Like other comments mentioned, DuckDB is open source and MIT license so I hope it will survive and evolve further the way it did.
srameshc··on Show HN: LatticeDB – Like SQLite but for graph databases
LatticeDB looks good, just curious how useful is duckpgq

https://duckdb.org/community_extensions/extensions/duckpgq

srameshc··on Andreessen Horowitz is investing billions into a bleak future
The founders of these starups make Mark Zuckerberg look good. I think this is how we are moving forward as a society generation after generation.
srameshc··on Opus 5.0 drives incoherence into the stratosphere
I am glad I am not the only one. I thought I simply didn't understand English literature well enough to interpret it Claude correctly.
srameshc··on OpenRouter is joining Stripe
It is amazing how we watch from the sidelines these aquisitions and think .... why such big bill ? But it takes a good team to sell and everytime someone is successful it is because probably they have great sellers who believe in their value and demand a price. It is certainly not an easy task to get to the finish line for a startup and pay back their investors.
srameshc··on Cursor launches Origin, GitHub alternative
OpenAI did a good one by owning a product called Codex
srameshc··on A Preview of DuckDB v2.0
I <3 DuckDB. It has become one of my go to tools for storing, data processing , integrations and now even graph. More importantly it's fun to use because it is so portable. Looking forward to v2.
srameshc··on TypeStax: A type scale generator with vintage audio hardware interface
Love it , I am using it , thanks
srameshc··on Show HN: Mu – Tools for Agents
I admire your grit Asim, you never stop :) This looks great !! but what are we using for searching news here, I mean the sources ?
srameshc··on Introducing selfie for sign-in: a new way to access your Google Account
Sounds like a bad idea on so many layers. I don't want to give more selfies for training, feels like a disaster about to happen
srameshc··on Why I Left Google DeepMind
I did not know about TurnTrout till now and thanks to HN community now I know. I am beyond impressed as to how he lives by his principles. I don't think I have this kind of courgae or confidence and thankfully I don't work for Google or have to quit it. On the other hand we have smart people who have choose to work for companies like Palantir and are proud of it.
srameshc··on LAPD lets contract with surveillance giant Flock expire
Thanks !! It is so easy to assume that ending contract means turning off the cameras. Hopefully ciities can fight back harder for them to remove them, specially when people don't want that surveillance.
srameshc··on How to hide from killer drones
This title scared me, not for myself but more thinking about how kids will probably need to learn these things next. We are such strange 'intelligent' creatures who have figured out everything but not to be at peace with each other.
srameshc··on The Vespa at 80
Grew up in India riding my Vespa (LML Vespa). A 150cc scooter. It was very old technology I guess but I never had problems with it. The new Vespa looks very cool and seems to have much better balance. It makes me very happy to see Vespa now on the roads at times where I live. I always think, someday I will buy one.
srameshc··on Haystack: Open-Source AI Framework for Production Ready Agents, RAG
> deepset? more like deadseek. Just curious, why say that ?
srameshc··on Tesla allegedly in autopilot mode crashes into Texas house, woman killed
Many Tesla owners I know are 100% convinced Assited Driving is 100% safe and reliable and can not go wrong.
srameshc··on Show HN: Gerrymandle - Daily puzzle game where you redraw electoral districts
I love the idea .. how you changed an important issue into a game and probably that would bring awareness. I am not an expert but such decisions probably affect a lot of people and no one spend time and learn about it. This is a fun way to learn. Thank you !!
srameshc··on SpaceX to buy Cursor for $60B
At this point, money and rationality does not make sense to me, rather beyond my ability to understand. But I feel it is all about accounting and writing off eventually and a few profiting from it, not the retail investors for sure. Again I am just saying what I think and there could be no rational to my thought process.
srameshc··on DaVinci Resolve 21
Does someone know if Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is a good camera since it comes with the resolve studio ? Instead of buying a separate camera in the same price rangen (sony) for studio or indoor recording ?
srameshc··on OpenRouter raises $113M Series B
https://aistudio.google.com/spend ? Monthly spend cap
srameshc··on Ebola Outbreak Now Third Largest Recorded and "Spreading Rapidly"
> headlines screaming apocalypse. Same bat country, same fear cycle

From the article "deaths reported at 177, and around 1,400 contacts now being traced". People are dying on the planet we all belong to.

srameshc··on Seattle Shield, an intelligence-sharing network operated by the Seattle police
I love this comment, I just couldn't ever frame it so well :)
srameshc··on Gemini CLI will stop working from June 18, 2026
Whoever is in charge of these decisions, is absolutely disconnected with the reality. First they sent a message saying the Ultra plan is ending, with no other option for a Workspace use to buy an equivalent plan. It was suppose to be active tilll June or July 7 , that's all. So the users are not suppose to know how they will need to plan or budget and just guess. I read once that after a certain level , the managers need to make their own decisions. Seems like someone just came in and decided that all the Gemini CLI and Antigravity needs to be one , because some other manager thought Antigravity was a better name than Gemini or whatever and started this mess in the first place. I am loosing my faith in these managers and Google.
srameshc··on Waymo updates 3,800 robotaxis after they 'drive into standing water'
Does anyone with a better understanding about LIDAR vs camera approach to autonomous drivng explain how would Tesla handle such situation ?
srameshc··on Some kids are bypassing age verification checks with a fake mustache
It did not take them too long to figure out this simple hack :) I know a few companies that work on age verification for online stores etc. But they ask for age proof via id etc. This seem to be via image and a bad idea. Unless there is a better idea , privacy focused age verification system, they should stop doing it .
srameshc··on DeepSeek v4
As much I apprecite the sentiment, I think it is too early to declare that the well guareded monopoly is over. Yes, these models have answers, but don't expect all the large enterprises to switch to these models. The other aspect is scaling to serve these models will need a lot of time even if Huawei succeeds. Not all the Governments trust China and there will be a lot of resistance to work with these models eventually, even if cheaper.
