What do mouse and keystrokes have to do with eyestrain, though? I guess it could be an indicator on how active you are using your computer, but I could imagine plenty activities that involve using your computer without actually interacting with it.

I can't even begin to comprehend why people would think that using a word in a fictional software name given by a developer causes "alienation". It's depressing that people take the time, effort and stress that goes into these rants and succeed. Possibly because those people are the only ones who care about something so.. worthless? useless? I mean, if people get murdered or locked up over this shit I could wrap my head around this

edit: It seems a user on Github[0] called 'maxkwallace' addressed the naming issue. This particular user had an encounter with his female colleague which he found to be very awkward:

"(...) at one point, I was going through some code with a female engineer, and noticing the name FactoryGirl led to an awkward exchange (...)"

Later, he gets asked how the conversation was awkward. He added:

"(...) The woman I was working with didn't explicitly say that she felt uncomfortable (people almost never do), but my subjective impression was that she felt uncomfortable. I also felt uncomfortable."

Isn't some R documentation only accessible via pdf files? I couldn't provide a clear example, but months ago when I used R intensively I stumbled upon very extensible documentation via PDF only

Amen to that. I still have that reflex of "blaming" others (thinking something happens because THEY believe something instead of what I am doing) and I really have to step back from the situation and think about it. Absolutely hate it when my brain does this

This is a good development. This proves the point that a lot of ads found on these websites are extremely shady and dangerous, and that we - as users - don't desire these crazy amount of ads on every single fucking website. These cases strengthen the need of a good adblocker because this story will hopefully spread around, causing an increase in adblock usage thus causing an overall decrease in ad revenue and hopefully we will see a decline of websites filled with advertisements
