sph130··on Clockwise acquired by Salesforce, shutting down March 27, 2026
I was a reclaim.ai user but I only used it for the merging functionality - i didn't use any of the ai (in fact i found it annoying after i tried it. So I built my own and actually got it approved by google. https://www.mightycalendar.com ( I worked for Amazon for the past four years - have been a developer for like 20).. commonly fix my own problems. This was one of them.
sph130··on Ask HN: What framework/stack should I learn to get myself a job?
I wasn't referring to my startup failure, I was referring to not having interviewed or having done a resume for over 12 years. :D I'll get it done I have confidence in my ability to figure things out.
sph130··on Ask HN: What framework/stack should I learn to get myself a job?
I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Having worked 11 years in IT in the Fortune 100 Corporate World and then giving a startup a go, I find myself a little like a fish out of water back trying to get this many years being on the other side of interviewing.
sph130··on Ask HN: What framework/stack should I learn to get myself a job?
Then maybe it's my resume skills? I'm not getting the initial interviews, but then again it may be because it's around the holidays.
sph130··on Ask HN: What framework/stack should I learn to get myself a job?
Thanks for the insight - I have seen a number of React postings.
sph130··on Ask HN: Looking for Employee #3 How do I do it?
Had the same thought - I'm a tech guy not sales, will these guys work for commission and stake in the company in lieu of salary? (Bootstrapping at the moment - have 3 customers after a month and ready to ramp up)
sph130··on How and why to make your software faster
What's your thought on mongodb - i've recently started a project that is running in prod now for a customer and I spent almost two weeks deciding between mysql and mongodb. Ultimately went with mongodb but it's not my forte. And I've been thinking that at some point the calls to the database are going to slow down. And i have no idea where to start looking to improve mongodb performance. (MEAN stack application) I'm sure I'll be doing a bit of research soon on that once i get the base feature set working.
sph130··on Mike the Headless Chicken
Why is this on HN? i just read it and now feel... well i'm not sure but it's different than before when i read this article and the comments. And its not even lunch time yet. Back to work for me.
sph130··on Santa, I'll be 55YO in a few days. All I want is a better job. Thanks.
Just make sure you stay current with the latest trends, technology, usability, target demographics for your space. Kids out of college and recent grads inherently have this because it is what they learned. So when putting two people side by side regardless of their metrics - looking at what they know. Far often the person who is in the know and up to date rather than complaisant will have the edge. (At least in my experience)
sph130··on Show HN: Sweetlyclean.com – Need Advice on SEO and Feedback on Iteration 2
Thank you! - yeah i see those.. what browser were you using? Going to make some updates - that is very unclear. Probably time to just get my own hands dirty and stop relying on outsourcing. Appreciate you taking the time to give us some feedback.
sph130··on Show HN: Sweetlyclean.com – Need Advice on SEO and Feedback on Iteration 2
Thank you - that makes sense. I've have an internal struggle over design vs function. I liked the clean look of mopp.com - but you are right they stick the price right up front. Are there any sites you think are well done around cleaning.. homejoy.com, mopp.com, maidsinblack.com is the business model we are going after.
sph130··on Show HN: Sweetlyclean.com – Need Advice on SEO and Feedback on Iteration 2
Any feedback on SEO, the site, recommendations, call to actions etc? I've done a soft launch while i work on the local SEO - i.e. get on yelp, google plus etc. Looking for all and any feedback. This is my second iteration/rewrite of the website.. almost feel like I need another major tweak. I like the look, but I'm just the owner. I like everything i do.
sph130··on Ask HN: who is looking for a summer intern?
What are your skills and experience?
sph130··on Ask HN: Fastest setup for Restful Web Service
Thanks!
sph130··on Ask HN: Fastest setup for Restful Web Service
Yikes.. almost lost my post and couldn't find it again. (Is there a my posts section or should i just bookmark it?)
sph130··on Ask HN: Fastest setup for Restful Web Service
I've looked at kinvey before. Maybe worth looking back into this. Have you had any experience with their ability to scale? (I know - get users first and then scale :| but you know.. can't help but thinking it)
sph130··on Ask HN: Fastest setup for Restful Web Service
thanks mmariani : This looks very close to the model/py in django.
sph130··on Ask HN: Fastest setup for Restful Web Service
Django was basically that at the end - but its the fact that i've done it once and so until I get back into it the ramp up time is the same. I've dabbled in ruby before too. Have you had any luck with specific tutorials to get going?
sph130··on ShowHN & Ask HN: Free iOS vs Free Nook/Amazon What gives?
Any thoughts - I know there is no magic follow this guide to make money. We've been doing a lot of trial and error and I thought after two years we got the formula down to at least get the downloads... but there is something different between the markets making iOS hard. Is it just the sheer number of apps in the iOS or is the user different?
sph130··on Ask HN: Connection timed out
very productive morning.. but now an unproductive midmorning to catch up.
sph130··on How often do iOS users update? - The Pareto Distribution
Here's their decision: Update or Delete. People don't like that extra notification laying there. So you will either retain them or loose them when you update. Some who are disengaged will just update all, but those users you care about will either update or delete.
sph130··on Tiny device to track your bag. Never lose luggage again.
I usually just read and don't comment. A couple things.. Better information on the website. Even just a picture of the device. Preorder is just a mailto: - put a form on there at least, it adds to the legitimacy of the company even if it just forwards an email in the end.

And a third point - whats the status of the product? Expected Ship Date? Are you just putting this out there to see if there is interest in the product? Be honest with the consumer.

So you had the hook - there are people that clicked on the link because they want to track their bags.. but you need more.

Where is the move down button on Hacker News? I know you can give points to comments but there should be a way to quickly drop posts that seem a little sketchy.
