spand··on Libtls – New TLS API from LibreSSL
From the link:

* tls_connect() connects a client context to the server named by host. The port may be numeric or a service name. If it is NULL then a host of the format "hostname:port" is permitted.

* tls_connect_fds() connects a client context to a pair of existing file descriptors.

* tls_connect_socket() connects a client context to an already established socket connection.

[3] has never been available while this seems only temporarily unavailable.
spand··on Yes, we’re being bought by Microsoft
Of course you can deny it access to JNI [1]. The Java platform has had this built in since forever. This is how applets work. Aside from sandbox exploits classes in Java can be locked down so much that they can pretty much only allocate memory and burn cycles.

How would they not be the same if they are indistinguishable by any experiment?

spand··on Smoking is Worse Than You Imagined
The substance is one thing, but volume is another. Are people smoking 'a pack' or two of marijuana every day for decades?
spand··on Extreme Programming, a Reflection
The kernel debate is a different one.

Software can easily consist of loosely coupled pieces as source code and be compiled and run as a single monolith with hardly any performance loss at runtime (versus coupled source code).

I think you missed a static keyword in that line of code.
spand··on Why I'm switching back to Firefox
You need to keep the pane open for it to have an effect. The relevant SO thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5690269/disabling-chrome-...

I actually like this behavior but obviously you need to know about it for it to seem reasonable :-)

spand··on CopBlock.org Founder Faces 21 Years in Prison for Reporting Police Brutality
Not sure if its fair to call you out on this but what would any additional "punishment" bring anyone ? 21 years is a long long time.

Extending the prison term seems like the right way to go and keep the issues of punishment and safekeeping separate.

spand··on Kid Automates Work, Is Fired, Hired Back, Automates Business
I am a Dane and this makes no sense to me. As far as I know no "benefits" like that are mandated by law. The only thing comparable I know of is during employment your employers notice will grow from 3 months to a max of 6 months (and that is after nine years of employment!). Anything in addition to that has probably been added in individual or union negotiations. Some companies may not require the employee to work during that period but many certainly do.

Edit: I am only talking about individuals. Mass layoff rules are different but I very much doubt they are any worse for the employer.

spand··on Go is amazing, period.
There is quite the difference between libraries having undefined behavior if you do not follow their contract and the language.
spand··on The Go Programming Language, or: Why all C-like languages except one suck.
There is a site dedicated to collecting them but I cannot find it atm. This one does a decent job however:
