spaceguillotine··on Starship Flight 7
Musk've had Cybertruck QA team on this one.
spaceguillotine··on Google is making AI in Gmail and Docs free, but raising the price of Workspace
i cancelled prime over a year ago and i still get packages in the same time frame, i think once they nixed a lot of next day deliveries that it didnt matter anymore.

The downside is quality of products still keeps going downhill and not even mcmaster had the parts i needed.

spaceguillotine··on Apple starts pushing AirPods owners into Transparency mode, with no easy opt out
sounds like a microphone is broken or clogged up with human skin goo
spaceguillotine··on 43K fewer drivers on Manhattan roads after congestion pricing turned on
This problem has been solved by equipment designed for narrower roads. It is not a hard problem to solve and cities like this have been around a very long time.

There are literally solutions to every issue you bring up that are already on the market.

spaceguillotine··on Meta's memo to employees rolling back DEI programs
MLK was a communist who was killed for his views by the US Government.

He was not the harmony flowers and rainbows he was white washed into.

Rights are never given, they have to be taken by force.

spaceguillotine··on Meta is killing off its AI-powered Instagram and Facebook profiles
oh no, they killed off digital blackface!!!

Meta really doesn't think things through when the come up with an idea like this, they just see potential revenue numbers with no thought to cultural impact.

Regulate them.

You are wrong and hiding behind a throw away account you made 9 hours ago because you know you are wrong
spaceguillotine··on BioTerrorism Will Save Your Life with the 4 Thieves Vinegar Collective [video]

spaceguillotine··on Happy 400th birthday to the world’s oldest bond
i have to laugh at their proposition that Bonds built the modern world... that was slavery buddy, all that stolen labor funded the markets of the world.
spaceguillotine··on How much do I need to change my face to avoid facial recognition?
according to the DMV and Passport office just having bangs is enough to fool the system
spaceguillotine··on Why America's economy is soaring ahead of its rivals
I've never known more homeless people before in my life in America, seems like its only the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer and less healthy.
spaceguillotine··on Is Chrome the New IE? (2023)
I think it might be worse. Google has lied about Chrome and privacy so much that you can just assume it phones everything back to Alphabet even if you set it not to.
spaceguillotine··on Sin taxes are suffering from a shortage of sinners
You can view all of Washington's weed revenue https://502data.com/ $2,600,919,507 seems like a lil bit of money in tax revenue

sadly it looks like most of the current data went behind a pay wall

spaceguillotine··on Stop saying "just" (2019)
When femme presenting people stop saying 'Just' in their emails, they get called into HR for being aggressive.
spaceguillotine··on FDA Authorizes First Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Software
Sounds like a feature and not a bug.
spaceguillotine··on AnandTech Farewell
up next slashdot?

feels like the old internet is nearly gone

spaceguillotine··on DOJ sues realpage for algorithmic pricing scheme that harms renters
Recently in used car shopping i've found KBB only gets used when they are pricing trade ins but the cars for sale on the lot have been much higher than the book value and they scoff when you ask them to come down to the KBB used car value that matches, no wonder so many car lots are closing shop.
spaceguillotine··on Show HN: YTHunt, App for recommending/discovering interesting videos
feels like i stumbled upon a 13 year old edgelords curated feed, transparent lingerie try on videos and then secret nazi symbology mixed with weird AI voiced propaganda videos full of anti-communist talking points followed by videos on why capitalism and venture capital is a good thing (as we keep seeing private equity kill and strip more companies)

interesting idea but the New For You tab on YT does a better job.

spaceguillotine··on FDA warns top U.S. bakery not to claim foods contain allergens when they don't
Having allergies in the USA is already hell thanks to the media, so many people will think you're full of it but no really i'll be bed ridden for a day with nausea and a migraine, which means i just never go out to eat now due to the awkwardness of explaining it all.
spaceguillotine··on FDA warns top U.S. bakery not to claim foods contain allergens when they don't
Bimbo-core is actually on trend right now
spaceguillotine··on Living Computers Museum to permanently close, auction vintage items
Paul Allen sure didn't have great foresight for post death. First Cinerama and now the computer museum. The current sentiment with seattle lifers is that he used Seattle as a playground and didn't actually care about the longevity.

EMP now MoPop just keeps hanging on by a thread as well and has gone through lots of turmoil.

spaceguillotine··on Comparing the Framework Laptop with the MacBook Air M2: A Detailed Review
why do they always choose the Air and not a laptop that also has active cooling like the Framework.

I want framework to succeed because i like the idea of modularity but c'mon, go against a MacBook Pro at least.

spaceguillotine··on Amazon fined $5.9M for breaking labor law in California
This is pretty close to what temp agencies do at tech companies, i witnessed it at Google with multiple agencies and production quotas.
spaceguillotine··on Building an AI game studio: what we've learned so far
shhh you will scare the VC bros and their dreams of doing nothing and making billions off others work.
spaceguillotine··on Shipbreaking
If you haven't played Hardspace Shipbreakers yet, you should. I honestly wish they would make it a required play for high schoolers learning about workers rights. Its a similar story just set in space.
spaceguillotine··on Updating from macOS Ventura to Sonoma Silently Enables iCloud Keychain
if you have an iPhone, iPad or any other logged in device with the wifi password it will auto grab it from that device without you doing anything.
spaceguillotine··on Lithium-free sodium batteries exit the lab and enter US production
that much range currently costs about $6000 for a Nissan replacement. Rumors are a longer range current EV battery like in the Ioniq is $50k to replace.
spaceguillotine··on FCC votes to restore net neutrality rules
They published the plan and its pretty much what the parent comment said.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025

The GOP wants fascism everywhere

spaceguillotine··on AI Is Smoke and Mirrors
I do think they are right about AI corrupting infrastructure of the internet, Google is pretty much useless if you aren't trying to buy a product and is full of SEO'd to hell AI generated content that is just terrible or completely lacking information.

It has made job seeking a pain in the ass and is leading to tools of manipulation on every side, nothing is real, everything is a grift now seeking short term gains while playing scorched earth with everything long term.

spaceguillotine··on Meta Llama 3
how can anyone doubt Ballmer's passion after his sweaty stage march. He ain't in charge anymore anyway. Gates was more methodical evil than passionate and his big moves were all just stabbing someone else to take their place.
