spaceguillotine··on Everyone in Seattle hates AI
the author makes the connection, people see AI as Asbestos, shoved in everything by profit hungry corps that don't care about what damage it will do in the long term.

Seattle has been screwed over so many times in the last 20 years that its a shell of itself.

spaceguillotine··on The feds want to make it illegal to even possess an anarchist zine
if they followed the content of the bible they would ban it for being anti-fascist too
spaceguillotine··on Dissecting Flock Safety: The Cameras Tracking You Are a Security Nightmare [video]
hey, while I have you here Mr CEO, why are you comfortable allowing abusive cops the tech to stalk and harass former partners, I've met women that had ex husbands in the FBI that kept chasing them across country to continue the abuse and your camera systems help enable those acts.

I hope you lose sleep like those women do.

spaceguillotine··on Apple takes down ICE tracking apps after pressure from DOJ
the only time apple fights the government is when they want to keep illegally firing people and then the NLRB just goes, well sorry they just have too much money to stop them. They use bribe money for everything else.
spaceguillotine··on Proposal to Ban Ghost Jobs
i'm so glad that companies don't have feelings tho. Would you mind sharing with everyone else what you are talking about, its very vague with the descriptor of "something similar" doubly questionable with you use of calling humans leeches, when the only leeches i've seen in the business world were the companies that require labor to make money and then pay back a less than equitable amount to the people doing work.
spaceguillotine··on Giving people money helped less than I thought it would
Nah you gotta work for the rich or they WILL kill you by denying health care, shelter, and food.
spaceguillotine··on Giving people money helped less than I thought it would
money does nothing without stable housing and community
spaceguillotine··on Did California's fast food minimum wage reduce employment?
so is not opening a service based business
spaceguillotine··on Electric cars produce less brake dust pollution than combustion-engine cars
87k miles on my Leaf and it still has lots of brake pad left on the original pads.
spaceguillotine··on Ex-Waymo engineers launch Bedrock Robotics to automate construction
nah, i went from apprentice to lead installer in under 3 years, there is full training programs for the trades, but you will most likely get injured out before retirement so a lot of people won't even go that route. Until the trades are capped at 30 hours a week, you're going to injure out most of your workforce.

It is really hard on bodies.

spaceguillotine··on The librarian immediately attempts to sell you a vuvuzela
this is a perfect example of the VC churn, they hope to get unattainable and unsustainable results and don't care what happens to anyone that was doing it sustainably before they came around.

The internet has become total garbage now all because a few men wanted to make a bunch of money by making silicon do the thinking for them.

AI is the quickest route to ruin and ending up with humans like in Idiocracy devoid of critical thinking, and the output of LLMs is so bad to read, students are just turning in the worst papers using LLMs and learning nothing.

At first my school banned use of them but then Microsoft tipped their hand because they donate a lot of money and now everyone is allowed to use AI and they got rid of the requirement to use MLA Citations so everything turned into slop.

i feel the same about your name too, imo

spaceguillotine··on Two new PebbleOS watches
i like you use NFC via watch way more than by Phone. I don't wanna take out my phone all the time, i'd like to look at my phone screen less and less as time goes on.
spaceguillotine··on Two new PebbleOS watches
Former Pebble and Pebble Time owner and these kinda feel, meh in 2025. The Pebble roadmap seemed like it had more potential back in the day with experimental bands that didn't really materialize.

Hoping once they actually release and we find out if the targets are hit or not with battery life and water resistance.

I just hope they don't release limited color cases again and not have any left for warranty support as happened with my Blue Pebble and all they could offer was a Black one.

spaceguillotine··on I'm Peter Roberts, immigration attorney who does work for YC and startups. AMA
They gotta keep the criminals out somehow. I know quite a few well to do white men with DUIs that kept them out of Canada and I can't blame Canada for it. I think any Felony will keep them from letting you in.

Which is why Trump should be banned from entering as he is a convicted felon.

spaceguillotine··on OpenAI asks White House for relief from state AI rules
Bottom is about to drop out thats why, ethics are out the window already and its gonna be worse as they claw to stay relevant.

Its a niche product that tried to go mainstream and the general public doesn't want it, just look at iPhone 16 sales and Windows 11, everyone is happier with the last version without AI.

spaceguillotine··on Walt Disney's MultiPlane Camera (Filmed Feb. 13, 1957) [video]
You can go see one in person, it sticks through the floor of the Disney Family Museum in the Presidio. There is lots of animation history in that building. If you just wanna see the camera the top part pokes into the gift shop which you don't need admission to go into
spaceguillotine··on How did places like Bell Labs know how to ask the right questions? (2023)
and a ton of government cash doesn't hurt either. Post war science boom was nearly all funded from government grants that have mostly dried up and are extinct under Trump, its why America started falling behind post Reagan.

spaceguillotine··on Y Combinator Supports AI Startup Dehumanizing Factory Workers
it got so bad i got junk mail from amazon to resident today looking for warehouse workers
spaceguillotine··on Y Combinator Supports AI Startup Dehumanizing Factory Workers
This is the kind of AI that leads to turnover like Amazon that is so bad they are so desperate for warehouse staff they took to mass junk mailing people to try and find new hires because they fired all the eligible ones.

serious late stage capitalism stuff right here and goes against the advice of successful business leaders that you have to instill trust and confidence in your team to get them to perform.

Whoever made that AI should read Ricardo Semler and Paul Orfalea and stop drinking the tech bro get rich kool-aid and build a business that makes the world better, not worse.
